The moment he finished speaking, Gao Liu glanced at the time and said anxiously, "I have to go now. There’s a lot I need to take care of."

"Where are you headed this late at night?"

Gao Liu gave her a questioning look as well.

"The Ghost Market," Gu Shengsheng said with a smile. "I’ve heard the Ghost Market in Beijing City has a lot of rare items lately. I want to go check it out."

"The Ghost Market? Why didn’t you invite us old-timers along?" Gao Liu said. "Neither of you has any experience. It’s best if I take you."

At this, Yang Jiao asked curiously, "Are there some kind of special rules or something? Does the Ghost Market actually have ghosts?"

"It’s so late. Is something really wrong? I suddenly feel a chill run down my spine."

Gu Shengsheng also looked at Gao Liu. She couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something profound and mysterious about him.

Gao Liu nodded. "That’s right. They sell all sorts of things at the Ghost Market. To put it bluntly, you’ll even find people selling human ashes. There are also antiques from the Ming and Qing dynasties, and of course, traditional medicinal herbs."

"However, there’s one special condition for all transactions: you can’t ask about the origin of the items."

"When we normally trade antiques, we always have to verify their provenance. If you buy something with an unknown origin, you’re just asking for trouble. You two need to be careful later."

Gao Liu had originally planned on going with them, but something urgent came up, and he really couldn’t get away.

A moment later, Gao Liu took a call. "Shengsheng," he said, sounding resigned, "I really have to go."

"Now that I’ve told you about the private museum, I’ll look into preparing the follow-up documents. We should be able to get it all settled soon."

"I’ve got something to attend to, so I can’t go to the Ghost Market with you. Just remember to keep a close eye on your things."

"Alright."

After they watched him leave, Yang Jiao grabbed Gu Shengsheng’s arm excitedly.

"Shengsheng! Did you hear that?"

"You’re qualified to open a private museum! This is huge! Oh my god, the more I think about it, the more excited I get. My best friend is going to be a museum director!"

"For now, the courtyard house should be fine for storing the artifacts. When it’s time to hold an exhibition, there will probably be a lot more paperwork, but just taking this first step is pretty good."

Then, Yang Jiao frowned. "The Double Dragon Bridge Night Market is over there, on the bridge itself. There’s nowhere to park nearby."

"Let’s grab a cab."

Just then, a Rolls-Royce pulled up beside Gu Shengsheng in a flashy stop. The person inside was wearing a yellow food delivery uniform.

"Sister Gu! Long time no see," Zhao Han greeted her enthusiastically.

"Zhao Han? Thanks for your help back in Anxi during the appraisal! And for the food delivery."

"Don’t mention it, we’re all brothers in the business!" Zhao Han said with a chuckle. "The guys who helped you take down those thugs last time are still bragging about it!"

"Sister Gu, where are you headed?"

"To the Double Dragon Bridge Night Market."

"I’ll take you! My goddess didn’t order any food today. I’ve been waiting around here for a while now, but I haven’t seen an order from her pop up," Zhao Han said, looking a bit dejected.

Gu Shengsheng said helplessly, "Linnin ate at home with us today."

Yang Jiao asked in disbelief, "This is one of Linnin’s admirers?"

Gu Shengsheng nodded in affirmation. "Linnin is his goddess."

"He’s the young master of the Zhao family. The Zhao family from Beijing City."

After hearing that, Yang Jiao pretty much understood. She just never imagined that this elusive young master of the Zhao family, who was never seen at any banquets, would be standing right here, all smiles and cheerful chatter.

And on top of that, he had a crush on Linnin.

’Interesting.’

Yang Jiao said with a laugh, "Looks like Linnin’s love life is really blossoming these days!"

"After leaving that poor kid behind, there’s a whole forest of suitors waiting for her!"

Gu Shengsheng and Yang Jiao took the ride to the Shuanglong Bridge Ghost Market.

After dropping them off, Zhao Han rushed off to make a delivery.

The traffic ahead was at a standstill, so she and Yang Jiao got out to walk. The Shuanglong Bridge Ghost Market essentially consisted of stalls lining both sides of the bridge.

People of all ages were there. Even though it was late at night, the area was bustling with activity.

It was packed with people. Gu Shengsheng looked at Yang Jiao and said, "You need to be careful. Keep a good hold on your belongings."

"It’s fine, I have everything in my purse," Yang Jiao said, patting her handbag.

The two of them walked forward, but before they had even taken ten steps, Yang Jiao said, "I can’t remember where I put my phone."

"I know I brought it. I put it in my bag, how could it be gone now?"

"You don’t think you left it back at your place, do you?"

Gu Shengsheng shook her head firmly. "You were just in Zhao Han’s car, you even had it out to play a game."

"It must have been stolen here."

Yang Jiao was still in disbelief. "But I only walked a few steps! I didn’t feel anyone touch my bag at all!"

Just then, Gu Shengsheng noticed a stall up ahead selling old brick phones as well as modern smartphones.

Beside them were other electronics, too, like rice cookers and small electric hot pots.

Gu Shengsheng remarked, "This stall has quite a wide range of products!"

Just then, Yang Jiao suddenly crouched down. "Weird, the case on this phone is the same as mine!"

She picked it up to get a closer look.

The stall owner said cheerfully, "A thousand yuan. A price you can’t beat. If you like it, it’s yours."

And then, something strange happened.

The phone unlocked using Yang Jiao’s facial recognition.

For a moment, the air grew still.

Yang Jiao started checking the apps on it, including her WeChat.

"Sir," she said, "this is my phone..."

The owner was struck speechless for a moment. "Miss, you look like you’ve got money. You can’t just say this thing is yours and expect me to believe you, can you?"

"It’s on my stall now. Did you see someone take your phone? Don’t go around making baseless accusations!"

Yang Jiao was furious, but she was never one to argue. She just looked at Gu Shengsheng, her face flushed red.

"Shengsheng! It’s really mine! It’s only been a few minutes, and it’s already being sold at a street stall."

The viewers in the live stream chat also exclaimed:

"The Ghost Market really lives up to its name. I knew something was fishy!"

"LMAO, she lost her phone just by walking around, then found it at a stall. HAHAHAHA! I have the dumbest sense of humor."

"Streamer, your friend isn’t very careful!"

"..."

Gu Shengsheng looked at the owner and said, "Sir, the phone’s ID can be traced to the user. If we get the police involved, it’s going to be a mess for everyone."

"Putting aside the waste of both our time, if this phone was in fact stolen and you get caught, you’ll go to jail, and no one will be able to help you."

"..." Sure enough, the old man selling all kinds of electronics got a little scared.

"You young people, can’t you keep track of your own things? Fine, fine, just take the phone!"

"What would I do with your phone anyway? Just don’t come back to my stall again."

Gu Shengsheng glanced at a rice cooker to the side. ’Why is it still warm?’ she wondered.

She asked, intrigued, "How much for this one?"
