The Real Heiress Has an Appraisal System

Chapter 174: So Satisfying! Gu Shengsheng Slams the Foreign Reporters

  • Next Chapter

He already knew Gu Shengsheng had connections and was held in high esteem by that important figure at the State Security Bureau.

But he never imagined she actually had the man’s phone number!

Now, even Zhao Dehai was shocked.

Then he smiled and said, "That will definitely work. Shengsheng, we’re counting on you."

"We trust you."

After Gu Shengsheng hung up, Zhao Dehai received a notification, followed by an urgent directive appointing her as the temporary spokesperson and instructing everyone else to cooperate.

Zhao Dehai showed the message to Zhang Zhengyi and the others around him!

He now looked at Gu Shengsheng with outright adoration.

’Now *this* is what you call the hope for our future!’

Gu Shengsheng rose to her feet. With crisp, decisive movements, she walked toward the podium.

Seeing this unfamiliar face, the people in the crowd looked at each other in confusion.

Gu Shengsheng was a classic Eastern beauty with radiant features, and now she stood upon the stage.

The foreign reporters exchanged glances:

"Is that a Huaxian star? What’s she doing up there now?"

"Did this museum exhibition hire a celebrity to make an appearance?"

"Weird. That young woman is gorgeous. Which celebrity is she?"

The viewers in the livestream chat were boiling over:

"I was about to die of anger just now! What are these fucking idiots trying to pull?"

"Sister Gu, go get our dignity back! I seriously just want to punch someone! What is this bullshit?"

"I’m furious. I’m already on Instagram in a flame war with foreign users."

"Forget it. Our country is a nation of propriety. You can’t start a fight at a formal event like this. Sister Gu can’t do that."

"..."

By now, the number of viewers in the livestream had surpassed half a million, and many more were watching the broadcast on satellite TV.

As Gu Shengsheng stood there, she was met with a chorus of questioning voices from all around.

She smiled. "I am today’s spokesperson."

"Gu Shengsheng, an ordinary citizen of Huaxia."

As she spoke, the fact that Zhang Zhengyi, Zhao Dehai, and the others stood right behind her was a clear signal that her position had been officially recognized.

Seeing that Gu Shengsheng held no official title, the foreign reporters grew even more arrogant.

A reporter from the United States led the charge. "Miss Gu, Mr. Shang was unable to give us a reply, so they sent you instead? You have no official title. Standing here, don’t you feel you’re unworthy of your position?"

"You have an old saying in Huaxia: ’One’s virtue not matching one’s position.’ I assume you’re familiar with it?"

A reporter from Japan then chimed in to fan the flames:

"Miss Gu, we’ve heard of you. You were spouting nonsense at the United States lab before. You even made statements that affected other nations and slandered the United States’ appraisal laboratory. What are you trying to pull now?"

Hearing this, Gu Shengsheng smiled faintly, her voice gentle. "Since everyone has such high expectations of me... you may not quite understand the phrase ’spouting nonsense.’ That occasion doesn’t count, because I was simply reasoning with people."

"If you can’t understand reason, I’ll have to speak in a way you can understand."

The American reporter grew even more contemptuous. "Miss Gu, if you have something to say, say it quickly. We are mainly here to interview Mr. Shang Jinhao."

Gu Shengsheng leaned into the microphone, waiting until the crowd fell silent.

Then she said, "Fuck you, you stupid Americans."

The curse was so simple and blunt that everyone froze, forgetting how to react. Even Zhao Dehai and his group were left speechless.

The American reporter’s face instantly turned beet red.

They were absolutely furious, but before they could even retaliate, Gu Shengsheng spoke again.

"I trust everyone understood that sentence, yes? Before, you people from the United States seemed unable to understand plain language. This should be simple and clear enough for you."

She feigned a pensive look.

"My country, Huaxia, is a nation of friendship. We have always strived for amicable relations with everyone, with all nations. But what is this you’re doing?"

Gu Shengsheng spread her hands. "We gave you basic respect. Our appraisal team showed more than enough respect to the laboratory from the United States. So what, was our respect just thrown to the dogs? If this is how you want to play, then we’ll play along."

The American reporter was practically apoplectic. "Miss Gu, you call cursing at people ’respect’? That’s hilarious!"

Gu Shengsheng spread her hands again. "I never curse at people. Because I’m not cursing at people."

"Does your behavior even qualify you to be called human?" Gu Shengsheng’s eyes were crystal clear, as if she were posing a sincere question.

The American reporter clenched his fists. "Miss Gu, I suggest you apologize right this instant. Otherwise, we can condemn you. The United States will issue a strong condemnation!"

"Oh, you’re right. I’m so sorry! I really do apologize," Gu Shengsheng said. It couldn’t be helped; she was the type to take advice. "It’s just that, when dealing with you, I honestly can’t think of a language suitable for communicating with non-humans. I’ll have to go back and do some research on it."

Then, Gu Shengsheng looked at Zhang Zhengyi. "Mr. Zhang is a university professor. He’s famous in the United States too, isn’t he? How about I ask him to help me with my research?"

She wore an expression of someone modest and eager to learn.

"..." Zhang Zhengyi was desperately trying to hold back his laughter.

If it wasn’t completely inappropriate for him to laugh while standing on stage, his stomach would be aching from the effort.

Goodness knows how much he was holding back, bottling it all up. He had to think of countless sad things just to keep from bursting out laughing.

Just then, a venue assistant rushed over to Zhao Dehai’s side, his expression tense.

"With Miss Gu acting like this... should we ask her to step down?" he asked.

"I don’t know if it’s appropriate for her to talk like that..." He was already drenched in sweat.

So many people were already asking him: Can someone really say things like that in the Imperial Palace Museum?

The pressure from his superiors was immense, which was why he had braved it to come and ask Zhao Dehai, the highest-ranking official present.

Zhao Dehai didn’t know what to do either. Privately, he was thrilled that Gu Shengsheng was up there, saying what everyone was thinking.

But from the perspective of the higher-ups, this was certainly a problematic situation...

So Zhao Dehai was also at a loss.

Then, he said, "Let’s wait for instructions from above. We’ll see how this plays out."

"No," he said, his resolve hardening. "I’ll go talk to them myself. Shengsheng must be allowed to finish speaking."

Zhang Zhengyi nodded. "I’m standing right here. I’d like to see anyone try and make Gu Shengsheng step down."

The assistant was at a loss. He steeled himself and stood beside Zhao Dehai. ’Well, if anything happens, the big shots will take the heat,’ he thought. ’I’ll just be a humble grunt and keep my head down.’

While Gu Shengsheng was speaking, Lu Shijing, dressed in a black suit, was seated in a prime central location.

He turned to the American reporter and asked, "Which paper are you with?"

The reporter flashed his press pass.

"The US Times?"

Lu Shijing nodded and sent a text. A moment later, the reporter received a notification that he had been fired.

The reporter had been planning to continue harassing Gu Shengsheng, but seeing that he’d been fired, he completely fell apart.

Lu Shijing looked at him and said, "A gift for you."

The reporter’s legs were trembling uncontrollably. A colleague had just whispered to him that the man was a titan who had come up on Wall Street.

This was not someone a person like him could ever afford to provoke.
