Chapter 729: Chapter 152: The Essence of Communication

“How you use it is your own business. You can use it to build up a family, cultivate Spirit Fields, or develop your own assets,”

Zhang Deming’s eyes lit up. “With an option like that, anyone who isn’t a fool would know what to choose!”

Gan Zili smiled and said, “However, if you choose to claim territory, there will be many things to review. Even after it’s approved, you’ll likely have to wait a few years. After all, the Five Great Secret Realms are currently busy with their Fusion.”

Zhang Deming waved his hand. “That’s fine. I don’t plan on getting entangled in the Red Dust just yet anyway.”

“Are you saying you plan on being a Stallion later?” Guk Liancai interjected.

“Ahem…” Zhang Deming broke into a fit of coughing. He glanced at Yuee Mengsheng out of the corner of his eye before turning to Guk Liancai. “I say, Senior Brother Guk, your reading comprehension is getting worse and worse. Just because I don’t plan on getting entangled in the Red Dust now, does that automatically mean I’m going to ‘contribute to the Sect’s population growth’ later? Why are you so shallow!”

“Hmph…” Guk Liancai sneered.

Before Guk Liancai could say more, Zhang Deming quickly turned to Gan Zili. “Senior Brother, was there anything else?”

Gan Zili shook his head. “No, that’s everything. Those were the main things I wanted to tell you.”

“In that case, is the Scripture Pavilion still open?” Zhang Deming asked.

Gan Zili replied, “Of course it’s open. During the grand assembly, many departments have scaled back operations, but very few of the Scripture Pavilion’s Guardians even show their faces at the conference. How could it possibly be closed?”

Hearing this, Zhang Deming immediately said, “In that case, I’ll be on my way.”

With that, wings materialized on his back, and he shot into the sky, flying toward Celestial Spirit Peak.

“What’s the big rush? Even if he’s that interested in the Five Elements Cultivation Techniques, and even if he gets all of them, he’ll still have to wait until after the conference to study them!” Guk Liancai grumbled.

Yuee Mengsheng said, “If you’d kept your mouth shut, he probably wouldn’t have felt the need to rush off to the Scripture Pavilion.”

Gan Zili nodded in fervent agreement. “I think so too.”

Guk Liancai was speechless. “What does that have to do with me? He was the one in such a hurry.”

Yuee Mengsheng and Gan Zili paused. The two other disciples with them also stopped. The four of them exchanged a look, then turned and walked away, leaving Guk Liancai behind by unspoken agreement, standing there completely dumbfounded.

…

This was Zhang Deming’s third visit to the Celestial Spirit Scripture Pavilion. After fleecing it for all it was worth last time, he wasn’t quite as obsessed with the place anymore.

‘Well, at least I’m not staring holes into the horizon for it anymore. My current level of obsession is, at most, just a little stronger than an Ordinary Disciple’s!!!’

He skillfully flew alone to the summit of Celestial Spirit Peak. With the grand assembly underway, all the defensive wards were operating at full power. As his Identity Jade Pendant flashed at his waist, Zhang Deming passed through the various Arrays without any resistance.

He had to admit, the active recognition of a Peak Master’s Identity Jade Pendant was vastly more convenient than the passive scanning of a standard Identity Card.

After passing through layers of defenses, Zhang Deming arrived in the main hall of the Scripture Pavilion. The Guardian was still Dang Mengfu. Strangely, he wasn’t reading a novel this time, but instead seemed to be engrossed in studying an Advanced Cultivation Technique.

He could sense the peculiar Dao Essence from far away—it was a unique aura that could only come from a Cultivation Technique Dao Canon of at least the Tier Four Magic Level.

When Zhang Deming arrived, Dang Mengfu looked up in surprise, clearly not expecting anyone to visit during the grand assembly.

The moment he looked up and saw Zhang Deming, he paused in surprise, then broke into a warm, enthusiastic smile. “Junior Brother Zhang, what brings you here at a time like this? Did you not find anything worthwhile at the conference?”

Zhang Deming paused for a moment before shaking his head. “Not at all. The first round just ended, and I was notified that the rewards had been distributed, so I couldn’t wait to come over.”

“Haha,” Dang Mengfu chuckled lightly and said casually, “It seems you’re also someone who loves to study Techniques, Junior Brother Zhang. Have you considered joining us in the Guardian Tower? If you’re willing, I’m sure the Pavilion Master wouldn’t hesitate for a moment.”

Zhang Deming paused, then shook his head. “I’ll pass, but thank you for the generous offer, Senior Brother. I’m doing quite well on Spirit Nurturing Peak! Besides, if I really joined the Guardian Tower, your headquarters would be in an uproar by tomorrow. Never mind anyone else, Senior Brother Guk alone would be enough to turn the place upside down!”

“Are you suggesting our Guardian Tower can’t compare to Spirit Nurturing Peak, Junior Brother Zhang?” Dang Mengfu asked, looking at him with a faint, unreadable smile.

‘Hah! I would never underestimate the librarians of the Cultivation Realm!’

A smile touched Zhang Deming’s lips as he replied, “Senior Brother Dang, I don’t know which group of Disciples in the Sect is the strongest in Magical Combat. But when it comes to causing trouble right under the noses of the Law Enforcement Team, I think Senior Brother Guk is quite the expert!

“Forget everything else, if Senior Brother Guk found out about this little conversation we’re having, I think your Guardian Tower headquarters would be in for a year or two of non-stop chaos.”

“Er… ahem…” Reminded by Zhang Deming’s words, Dang Mengfu suddenly realized that poaching a member wasn’t the same as engaging in Magical Combat. He paused, then quickly changed the subject. “So, Junior Brother Zhang, what are you planning to choose this time?”

Zhang Deming asked, “Is my limit still ten books this time?”

Dang Mengfu nodded. “Yes, the core rule of selecting a maximum of ten tomes per visit to the Scripture Pavilion remains unchanged. However, this time, Junior Brother, you can choose any Cultivation Technique or Magic from anywhere in the entire pavilion, with no restrictions whatsoever.”

Zhang Deming’s expression flickered. “Really? Absolutely no restrictions?”

Dang Mengfu nodded in confirmation. “No restrictions. You can look at whatever you want, and you can learn whatever you want. Aside from offering our standard recommendations, the Pavilion has no objections whatsoever.”
