Chapter 718: Chapter 150: A Holy Land Love Rival Melodrama Is Coming?

Zhang Deming spread his hands. “Who knows? Anyway, if something goes wrong, the Array Department’s Fang Family will take the heat. If it goes well, we’ll share the glory. So let’s just wait and see.

I guess either they were inspired by something, or they were provoked by that Liuying of mine from before. They’re probably trying to pull some kind of stunt.

After all, the Sect hasn’t held a grand event like this in several hundred years. Respecting tradition or not… that’s all decided by a single word.”

As the two were talking, Yuee Mengsheng drifted over, with a grim-faced Guk Liancai trailing far behind him.

Yuee Mengsheng, who was already in a foul mood, frowned at the somewhat chaotic scene below. A powerful aura erupted from him as he demanded, “What is the meaning of this? If you don’t want to participate, then get out. Go back and clean the Sect grounds.”

His words rang out clearly across the plaza, bringing the shuffling crowd to an instant halt.

“Song Huidong,” Yuee Mengsheng said, his gaze sweeping over the plaza.

“This Disciple is here!” Song Huidong immediately responded with a salute.

“Get them in formation. If you can’t do it in five minutes, then you don’t need to set foot on the Array Platform. You can go rest early,” Yuee Mengsheng said softly.

“This Disciple obeys.” With that, Song Huidong spun around. He glanced at the Duality Array, which had already been in perfect formation for some time, and bellowed:

“Didn’t you hear me? Everyone from every department and section, get to your designated areas, now! If you can’t get this sorted in three minutes, then… none of you are going! Tomorrow, you can all report with me to the Spiritual Fattening post on Wanghui Peak!”

The moment Song Huidong finished roaring, the squad of over a hundred Duality cultivators instantly burst into action. No one knew who started it, but they took to the air, hovering above their respective areas.

One after another, they followed suit, all drifting into the air. While Duality Cultivators weren’t all necessarily able to fly, they had absolutely no problem hovering for a while.

The Duality Stewards hovered above the crowd.

Some barked continuous commands; some of the more hot-tempered ones dished out physical punishments; and others… well, they treated the disciples like wooden dolls, arranging them in the formation themselves. Surprisingly, this last method was the most efficient!

With the big shots overhead all throwing their weight around, the formation, which only needed minor adjustments, was quickly set right.

The hundred-plus Duality Cultivators hovered over the disciples’ heads. One by one, they reported back to Song Huidong that their sections were in formation.

Once they had all reported, Song Huidong turned back to Yuee Mengsheng and said, “Reporting, Senior Uncle. The Spirit Nurturing Peak contingent has completed its formation for the assembly.”

Yuee Mengsheng nodded. He then glanced around at the five people with him and asked, “Who will chant the rites and lead the formation?”

All five of them faltered. Normally, it would be a given for Yuee Mengsheng, as the Peak Master, to be the one to chant the rites and lead them into the assembly. But his sudden question could only mean one thing. ‘He’s not going to lead the formation?’

The other four were slightly stunned, and then they all looked at Zhang Deming. Zhang Deming froze, asking in bewilderment, “Why are you all looking at me?”

Gan Zili smiled. “Senior Brother Yuee is truly thoughtful. Junior Brother Zhang, your status isn’t formally established yet. If you lead the formation, no one at the Dao discussion assembly will dare to look down on you.

Whether you actually join the discussion is another matter, but we need to give you enough of a platform. That way, should you be moved to speak, your opponent won’t be able to say anything untoward.”

“Senior Brother, the way you’re describing this Dao discussion, you make it sound like a Buddhist Sect squabble!” Zhang Deming said, exasperated.

Gan Zili chuckled. “Of course it won’t be. But this time, we have several neighboring sects, plus every Noble Family and Noble Sect of any renown. People have even traveled thousands of miles from remote regions to be here.

At a grand event like this, we can’t rule out the possibility of unexpected incidents. If we give you a strong enough platform, then no one will dare make an issue of your Duality Cultivation.”

Zhang Deming paused. ‘Cultivation… For a major Upper Sect, you really need the solid strength of Three Talents Cultivation to have true confidence!’

Zhang Deming was silent for a moment, then nodded and said, “Fine. I’ll do it. It’s not like it’s my first time, anyway.”

Hearing this, Yuee Mengsheng looked at Zhang Deming and said, “Leading the formation is completely different from leading the rites for a welcoming party. Don’t take it lightly. If you embarrass yourself, don’t say we didn’t warn you!

Besides, you minor in the Array Dao. The Sect Protection Array is a Six-Star Array. Leading this formation will be a rare opportunity for you—the kind you stumble upon by chance, not one you can seek out.”

Zhang Deming nodded. “I understand. I’ll take it seriously…”

Before Zhang Deming could finish, Song Huidong drifted forward and said, his voice a mixture of nerves and excitement, “Sirs, it’s starting!”

Everyone turned to look. On the vast plaza of Spirit Nurturing Peak, lines of Spiritual Power began to light up, and numerous patterns emerged on the ground.

They exchanged a glance. “Let’s go,” Gan Zili said. “The array is about to activate, and the chanting of the rites should begin in a few minutes. We’d better get ready. It would be embarrassing if our side is the one to drop the ball.”

They nodded, drifted down, and each found their corresponding position on the ground below, taking their places.

Song Huidong and the Duality Stewards remained hovering over the disciples’ heads. He suppressed his own nervousness, looked out over the crowd of disciples, and announced:

“Look at the symbols at your feet. Check if they correspond to the runes you received earlier. If they don’t match up, make minor adjustments.

If you’re in the wrong group, report to your respective stewards immediately. Let them adjust your position. Don’t you dare switch places on your own within the array.

The chanting begins in five minutes. At this critical juncture, if any chaos breaks out, ask yourselves if you can bear the consequences!”

At Song Huidong’s words, the crowd on the plaza shuffled about for another thirty seconds before finally settling. Seeing that the formation was complete, Song Huidong took a deep breath. He looked at the other Duality Disciples and said, “Return to your positions.”

With that, he drifted to his own position. The Duality Disciples followed suit, each floating to their respective places. It wasn’t difficult for over a hundred Duality Disciples to find their spots.
