Chapter 2102 Picking Targets
Chapter 2102 Picking Targets
Eos did not know what happened with the Luminious in the past, but there was a source where he could gain all of that information, and at the moment, the bait he had pushed out into Existence, the Beast of Final Rest, had not drawn the attention of that big fish, and he could only wait and apply pressure in a different way.
One reason the Beast had not settled down was that it was being chased by Nyxara, and so, following the character of the Temple of End, they would be determined not to interfere unless it was necessary.
Shifting his attention to the side, Rowan caught the strings of memories beside his throne that were waiting for his attention. Even though he had been away for just twenty-one thousand years, there were already a lot of messages waiting for him.
Most of them were concerned with the state of the war, which was rapidly heating up, and this was mostly happening because of the threat from Nyxara, and Eos had finally had enough.
Tracing her string of memory, he tugged upon it and spoke to her, “Your plan is a go… we are killing Elgorath.”
He was not surprised that it did not take her long to reply, “Just him, the agreement was to kill them all at once.”
Eos smiled, “Except you would agree to play a greater role in the fight, then we can kill more, but did you not forget that for the last hundred million years, all of you have been rapidly growing in strength? The Primordials we made those agreements for in the past are no longer the Primordials of today.”
Nyxara’s anger could be felt through the memory strings, “And would you say you are not the same? You may fool the others, Eos, with your pitiful attempt to remain under the radar while sitting on your precious stone, but I know you, Eos. I built you from my image, and I know you are not the same as you were.”
Eos shrugged, “I do not care what you think I have accumulated. We all hold weapons behind us, but you were the one who convinced me to work together with you on your acts of betrayal. I will not be sacrificing my power to suit your needs. We all get what we want from this deal, and if you want more, you have to place more on the table.”
“I want more deaths than just one Eos, and I am willing to assist you once against anyone you point me towards.”
Eos smiled, “That is not enough. Your help is not needed for any of my plans, when my greatest need is how to stand against you as you grow stronger.”
There was silence for a while, and yet Eos did not speak, as he knew that Nyxara was wise enough to understand what he meant, and before long she replied through gritted teeth, “You have implanted Mercy into my heart, and now you ask for more?”
“I do not know what you think I have Nyxara, but no matter how much you try to hide it, there is no way I have not realized that every one of your siblings that dies empowers you… Your needs are just too great, and you no longer hide them from me. Either you are getting desperate, or you know the benefits you are gaining are so great that you no longer care to hide your hunger any longer. Still, you have not heard my terms yet?”
After a while of extended silence that stretched for hours, Nyxara finally replied, “What are your terms?”
Eos pretended as if he was deep in thought, but he already knew what he wanted even before the conversation began. Truthfully, he did not even think he would get this far; he had expected that Nyxara would reject him at first, and another one to two million years of negotiation would go by before he would get what he wanted.
“Do not push it, Eos,” Nuxara growled, “You have the upper hand now, but you will not always have it.”
Eos smiled, not bothering to hide his deception from her, from this old monster; any action other than this would only invite mockery.
“I want you to unlock the first layer of Mercy in your heart. There are four layers to it. Unlock a single one, and we can kill two Primordials, unlock a second layer, and we will kill three, unlock everything, and we will kill them all.”
The silence that came after his words was so total that for a moment, Eos thought that Nyxara had left. This silence continued for months until a sigh emerged from the memory link,
“You know that this plan of yours… this attempt to change who I am would not work. You have to know, and yet, why do you choose to stick to this path? I tortured this damn thing for sixty-three million Cosmic Eras. Why would you ever think that something that I despise to this extent would reach any core of my being and change who I am?”
Eos shrugged, “I don’t, but I can only hope that this open secret may cause me surprise one day.” he chuckled with a note of sadness in his voice, “You have no idea what it is to be me, Nyxara, to know that despite all of your powers and your plans, that there is still so much that can go wrong at any time and everything that I know and love would be instantly gone. The chance is slim, but if there is a slight possibility in the future that I fail and I perish, then there would still be a home left for my children. and the only assurance I have is the slim hope in the fact that there would be a small mercy in your heart.”
Nyxara replied darkly, “One reason that I hate how much you have learned from me is that I no longer know when you lie. Congratulations, Eos, I accept your restriction, but I shall unlock only the first layer, and the Primordial we would be killing is up to me.”
Eos eyes lit up; of course, he was lying. There was no way he would leave the fate of his children on Nyxara’s mercy; he was playing a longer game, and he did not know when she was going to catch up.
“Who do you want to kill besides Elgorath?”
Nyxara growled, “My dear fucking brother, Xyris.”
