Chapter 2084 The Taste of Spilled Power
Chapter 2084 The Taste of Spilled Power
Through the eyes of the Archai, Eos and the New Primordials watched the terrifying battle ongoing in the realm of Death. There was a stunned silence as the Primordials here watched scenes of such great barbarity that few among them began to grow pale.
They knew of the Ancient Primordials and understood they were the enemies, and yet there was a fundamental understanding about their power and brutality that could not be described in words; it could only be shown.
Eos had allowed the Primordials to see the face of their enemies and showed them what they did to allies. He did not know how the battle would go in the future, and it may be possible that some of the Primordials here may decide to join his enemies; they had free will after all.
However, it was a different thing to know you are just food to something monstrous, and seeing that monstrous thing treated its food.
Would this display cause fear to grow in the heart of the Primordials? The answer was yes, but Eos did not see fear as a bad thing; only through fear could true bravery be found, and he did not want paper tigers in his armies. If they were all going to their death, he wanted no man or woman to die with scars on their backs.
One other entity was here, and it was the white turtle, the Beast of Inevitability, and in its eyes was great sadness. No matter the path that Death had chosen to take, it was its siblings that were being butchered and eaten alive.
The power of the Ancient Primordials and Death sent tremors all through Existence as its endless regions were collapsing into destruction as these Primordial forces raged through it. Eos looked at the power of Nyxara and frowned. This was something he could not make any plans for, because her power was something new.
It was almost as if Nyxara was a fusion of an Ancient Primordial and a New Primordial. She was fusing these ancient Origin Forces, and what was emerging from it was something new and unknown.
It was amazing that her siblings had not yet discovered that their sister was no longer an Ancient Primordial like them; in fact, it could be argued that she was no longer a Primordial.
Still, Eos was not going to just sit here and watch the Primordials devour Death. Although he had warned this proud Beast in the past about the inevitable fate that would befall it if this partnership with the Ancient Primordials continued, the Beast had been too proud and assured of its powers. That was a grave mistake.
Eos did not want to save the Beast, as far as he was concerned, Death was as bad as the Ancient Primordials, as it still served End. However, he did not want the Ancient Primordials to grow stronger, too.
Their strength had obviously grown, and it was far greater than what it was a hundred million years ago, which only satisfied his hypothesis that the Primordials had not enjoyed a life of sanity before they grew mad with the hunger of Enoch.
A hundred million years would see them slowly discover the reaches of their power, and hence they would become more dangerous. He was not the only one rapidly improving, but Eos would bet on himself to the end that he would always outwork and outinnovate his enemies.
Yet the power of the Primordials was expected, but Death had grown far too powerful, far too quickly, and this drew Eos’s attention above all else.
He knew of Death’s obvious growth a hundred million years ago that led to the fall of Asteroath, but like the Ancient Primordials, Eos had believed that Death would sooner reach a limit, and that there could not be too many Deaths that could be harvested.
However, he was wrong. The past was more perilous than he thought.
Eos bowed his head in thought. A moment before, he had been visited by End, and not long after, this frightening battle had broken out between Death and the Ancient Primordials. Eos was smelling a hidden hand, especially when he heard the cries of the Beast, saying it had been betrayed.
The reason Eos could not allow Death to die, at least not yet, was that this technique for reaching the past had drawn great interest from him.
Originally, Eos had not been too interested in this technique, when he knew that although it was powerful, it must have severe drawbacks, and only an entity like Death could reach towards the shattered past that should no longer exist because its nature was closer to End than even the corrupted Ancient Primordials, however, the brief truth he had been able to glean from looking into End made Eos reevaluate this technique.
There was something he knew he was missing from the entire picture, and the answer may be hidden in the past. Through a loophole, Death seemed to be able to reach a place that should no longer exist.
Eos knew that every shattered Existence existed in some form inside End, and anytime Death was reaching into the past, it was reaching deep into End. Eos could not risk making the journey, but for Death, this seemed to be the right candidate for the job.
But the Beast was arrogant and filled with the lust for power; perhaps it needed to be broken down until its hubris vanished. However, Eos was aware that the Beast was part of the Temple of End. Would they really sit back and watch one of their pillars being torn apart?
For a while, it did seem so, the Beast fought back, and madness spread from the battle, but the Ancient Primordials were patient; they used the most optimum strategy and tore the Beast to pieces, not letting go of the advantage they had gained when they ambushed the Beast for the first time.
The Beast staggered, its colossal form fraying at the seams, harvested Deaths spilling out like entrails from a gutted corpse. It collapsed inward, a black hole of endings on the verge of total dissipation, its screams a spine-chilling dirge that sent tremors through Limbo’s foundations.
The six hovered above the ruin, battered and broken, wings torn, bodies weeping ethereal gore. Nyxara licked her lips, tasting the spilled power.
They were about to descend for the final cut when the heavens above them opened and a lance of light descended from it.
