The Plant Master Becomes A Mute Sub-Beast: Farming And Laying Eggs
Chapter 257: Miracle
The first day arriving at Crimson, Larkspur was stuffed into the childcare class.
After life became prosperous, plus many new clan members joining, the Crimson preschool had to expand by three more classrooms.
The thing they lacked the most right now was teachers. Young Sub-Beasts all wanted to enter the military or majors having opportunities to travel everywhere, or take exams for in-depth research fields.
Older Sub-Beasts mainly worked in the kitchen or agriculture; very few people applied for the childcare school. It was not that the contribution points were not high enough, but it was too arduous they could not bear it.
These children, do not look at every single one being soft and squishy; them gathering in one place was exactly a pack of demons and monsters. One child crying caused the whole group to cry along; that demonic sound could pierce through a person’s eardrums.
The class over one year old was still tolerable; most children already knew how to walk and speak, knew how to express demands and learned independent personal hygiene. The class under one year old was miserable; entirely relying on the teachers to care for them.
Fortunately, the tribe had a rule that children must be exactly six months old to go to the nursery class; otherwise, teachers growing three heads and six arms also could not handle everything.
When Larkspur just arrived, the class under one year old coincidentally lacked an assisting teacher. Zale asked if anyone among them wanted to accept the task of taking care of children; Larkspur eagerly stepped forward saying: "I want to, I want to!"
Thus right now he was burying his head busily wiping the butt for a small Sub-Beast who just pooped; two Cat clan cubs hung on both sides of his head, using his hair as a swing. The left leg had a brown bear clan Sub-Beast baby, the right leg had a Lion clan Sub-Beast baby.
Larkspur even found taking a single step difficult. A middle-aged Sub-Beast was coaxing two children who had just rushed into a fight; looking at Larkspur’s situation, he hurriedly stepped forward to help Larkspur untangle the two brats swinging on his head.
Larkspur breathed a sigh of relief, saying: "Thank you."
The middle-aged Sub-Beast waved his hand: "You also helped me, try a bit more; at lunch time the other teachers will return. Today Kai’s group asked for a few hours off to return to visit a friend; having only the two of us is truly a bit overwhelming."
The teachers for the class under one year old were mainly the Sub-Beasts in the divergent group brought back to Crimson in the first batch; today they asked for a few hours off because they heard the news their friend comatose for many days had woken up.
Leonardo, the White Lion beastman comatose for many days, had woken up today.
The healer responsible for taking care of Leonardo was intending to wipe his body as usual. Unexpectedly, the healer just raised the towel intending to wipe Leonardo’s face when he saw a pair of pitch-black eyes staring intently at himself. In those eyes carried a bit of killing intent; the healer firmly believed that, if it was not because Leonardo could not move, Leonardo definitely would have jumped up to break his neck.
The healer was dazed for a moment, then showed a wildly joyous expression, rushing outside shouting loudly: "Leonardo is awake!!!"
The good news soon spread widely across the tribe; Zale was busy therefore could not return, the elders came to visit and encourage him. After that his former companions also visited one after another, telling Leonardo the matters that had happened after he fell into a coma.
The wariness in Leonardo’s eyes gradually faded when hearing his friends tell stories. It turned out they were picked up by a tribe named Crimson, not only providing food and shelter but also helping to cure his illness, helping his companions become tribe members, becoming Warriors and people having stable jobs.
Leonardo was still very weak; he could not sit up yet, also could not speak yet. The thing he could do was blink, nod and twitch his fingers. Everyone visiting also did not dare to sit too long, afraid of making Leonardo tired.
Finishing seeing off a group of people leaving, the healer helped Leonardo prop the pillow higher for convenience in drinking water. A healer said:
"Later Kai will probably come. Throughout the time you were comatose, Kai was the person taking care of you the most. Your personal hygiene tasks were done by him. During the day he works as a childcare teacher, returning in the evening he is busy taking care of you; we even thought you two were mates."
Leonardo’s eyes blinked slightly; in his head appeared the image of a timid Sub-Beast having a black birthmark on his face, always lowering his head using hair to cover it. His expression softened a bit.
The healer had just finished helping Leonardo drink water when a group of five people stepped in; leading was exactly Kai whom the healer just mentioned. Seeing Leonardo lying on the bed, Kai’s eye sockets turned red, tears uncontrollably falling patter by patter.
He used his hand to wipe tears, then walked to the bedside, choking up saying: "It is good that you are awake..."
---
The news of Leonardo waking up very quickly was reported to Sane and Kaelen by Aaron. The two unconsciously relaxed their minds: "It is good that he is awake. A vegetative person being able to wake up is truly a miracle."
Aaron nodded: [That is right. Previously the Lord Priest had also pronounced a death sentence for him; unexpectedly he could actually wake up. If this is not a miracle then what is?]
Aaron paused for a bit, his voice dropping low: [Chief, Priest, there is one more matter.]
"You speak."
[When he just opened his eyes, the person on duty beside him was healer Rowe. He said... said Leonardo’s eyes at that time did not look like a person just waking up after half a year of coma. It looked like a person just hauled up in the middle of a battle.]
Sane and Kaelen looked at each other; in their heads had already sprung up all sorts of situations. Aaron spoke again about some situations after Leonardo woke up.
Kaelen tapped his fingers on the tabletop, asking one more question: "How did he look at Kai?"
Aaron was stunned: [Huh?]
"When Kai stepped in. How did Leonardo look at Kai?"
Aaron thought for a moment, ultimately answering: [I was not present there so I am not clear. But listening to Rowe recount, it seemed... he looked at Kai with a very strange gaze, as if... an old man with one foot in the grave suddenly seeing his lover after many years of separation.]
Sane rubbed his chin, a moment later finally speaking up: "Keep tracking closely; see if after being able to speak and walk, he has any unusual actions."
[Yes.]
Aaron reported a few more important pieces of intelligence, then disconnected.
Sane looked over at Kaelen: "What do you think?"
Kaelen tapped on the tabletop: "Mhm... sounds like he met a miraculous experience like Wofu... But the possibility that we think too much cannot be excluded; he is only just waking up therefore being overly sentimental."
Sane agreed with Kaelen’s viewpoint, deciding to track more then plan the next step.
Right at this moment, the communication bracelet immediately glowed; this time it was from the children.
The couple was surprised. At this hour the children should have gone to sleep a long time ago; why would they suddenly call them?
Kaelen and Sane immediately connected; their faces under the oil lamp could not help but show a bit of worry. The other end of the line immediately rang out Ryder’s tender voice:
[Papa, Daddy, I am Edward.] It turned out Edward borrowed Ryder’s body to speak.
"Is it Edward? Why at this hour are you still calling your two fathers. Did an important matter happen?"
[Mhm... If I say I found the Phoenix Fire Flower already, does it count as an important matter?]
The couple was stunned for a long time, then wildly joyous: "It counts, of course it counts. My love, where is the Phoenix Fire Flower, your two fathers will immediately go fetch it!"
[It is not at our place. I exchanged for it in another dimension through the [Multi-Dimensional Space Connection] system. I used a high-level spiritual energy gun in the treasury to exchange for those two items. As for the Soaring Snake Horn and Soaring Snake Scale, that person said their dimension also has them, it is just that the price is a bit high, specifically exchanging what he did not say.]
Sane frowned: "Those two things Daddy can both give you, you do not need to go exchange with other people."
[No, Daddy.] Edward on the other side spoke softly: [Losing those two things your cultivation base will drop seriously, I do not want Daddy to suffer for me. In my space there are very many things that can be taken out, Daddy does not need to suffer for me.]
Sane said unhappily: "Daddy sacrificing a bit for my son, what is there to suffer..."
Without waiting for Sane to finish speaking, on the other side Edward emphasized: [No, I do not want to. I cannot take Daddy’s sacrifice for granted, Daddy. You two risked your lives to give birth and raise us, that is already something we can never repay. I cannot demand anything more, Daddy.]
Sane’s and Kaelen’s bodies shook slightly for a bit. Kaelen asked cautiously: "You, did you remember something already?"
[A little bit.] Edward sighed: [When I successfully opened the [Multi-Dimensional Space Connection] system, my name in the system board was a glaring yellow color, while other people’s names were only normal colors. I tried to find the reason, then I remembered a few matters. Not much, but enough for me to know where my origin is from.]
Kaelen felt his nose stinging, turning his face away not saying anything more.
Sane then sighed heavily once, saying: "Alright then, whenever you manage to exchange those two things then inform your two fathers, we will return to help you reconstruct your body."
[Yes, two fathers.]
Edward made the excuse that it was already late and needed to let Ryder’s body rest, disconnecting right after that.
Kaelen rested his head on Sane’s shoulder, speaking softly: "The children are gradually remembering again; is this good or bad..."
Sane pursed his lips not speaking, only hugging his mate into his embrace, resting his chin on Kaelen’s hair.
The starlight in the sky sometimes bright sometimes dim, looking seemingly distant, in reality close right before the eyes.
This day would also have to come; it was just that it came too early, they still had not fully enjoyed the simple and plain family joy they always wished for...
