The Plant Master Becomes A Mute Sub-Beast: Farming And Laying Eggs
Chapter 253: This is my child!
"Where is the messenger?" Kaelen immediately spoke up.
"I have arranged for people to bring his body into the Lord Priest’s tent." This Sub-Beast had just finished speaking when Kaelen’s and Sane’s figures disappeared on the spot.
Jesse and the Sub-Beast were extremely terrified, then hurriedly ran back to the Priest’s residence. Arriving there, the tent only had the old Priest and a few clan members left standing bewildered looking at the Golden Peafowl clan beastman.
Jesse looked around once, asking doubtfully: "Where is the Divine Envoy?"
The old Priest awakened, hurriedly ran over, placing a hand on the Golden Peafowl clan beastman’s carotid artery. The pulse beat steadily and forcefully, although the breathing was quite shallow, he was truly still breathing.
He clutched his chest, staggering almost falling. Jesse hurriedly stepped forward to support the old Priest, continuously asking what had happened. The old Priest was dazed for a long time.
A moment later, his tears welled up, saying to Jesse:
"Jesse, those two people, they are not Divine Envoys. They are Deities, they are exactly Deities!"
If not Deities, why could they make a dead person resurrect?!
The old Priest automatically ignored Kaelen’s sentence "He is still alive" before Kaelen shoved a potion tube into the golden peafowl’s mouth.
Jesse heard the words the old Priest and the clan members recounted, his heart surging with an extremely intense reverent emotion. So what if the Beastman side had a Divine Envoy; their Sub-Beasts had welcomed two true Deities right here!
Kaelen and Sane had just teleported instantly outside the Golden Peafowl tribe when they discovered a massive amount of faith power transmitting into their chests. The two people thought it was a new prayer wave from those three continent pieces combined, therefore completely not taking it to heart.
They stood on the ground, looking at the desolate scene inside the Golden Peafowl tribe. Blood and feathers lay scattered everywhere, watering the ground causing it to also become damp.
They stepped over the fragmented magical beast corpses, looking around once. This place had no one left; they had left the battlefield to go elsewhere. A ringing bird chirp carrying a bit of desolation echoed in the sky. Kaelen and Sane immediately looked over, then disappeared on the spot.
A moment later they appeared at a canyon, seeing the Golden Peafowl clan beastmen and some elders holding their ground outside, winning back a path of survival for the Sub-Beasts and cubs to run inside.
Right when Kaelen and Sane appeared, the red-haired child Larkspur was hugging in his chest suddenly wailed loudly. The crying sound pierced through the overlapping mountain ranges echoing into Kaelen’s and Sane’s ears; the couple’s hearts suddenly jumped once, a wave of hot air flooding into their chests.
"Ignis... Sane, that is Ignis!"
Sane uttered an ’mhm’, his nose stinging slightly.
The two people did not have time to think much, only hurriedly stepping forward to fight. Having two Saint Beast level Warriors assisting, the Golden Peafowl clan beastmen also felt much lighter. The old Chief only had time to say a word of thanks to the two young people’s backs, then hurriedly gathered around protecting the clan members to run deep into the canyon.
The two people along with the Golden Peafowl clan beastmen fought for a whole day and night, the beast tide was also pushed back completely.
The first dawn light appeared; this thin bit of light also could not dispel the pain of losing clan members. The beast tide had retreated, the entire canyon was dead silent, only panting sounds and the sound of someone sobbing softly deep inside remained.
Kaelen stabbed his sword into the ground, standing leaning against it breathing. His whole body was drenched in blood, but it was all magical beast blood. Sane walked over, one hand supporting his waist:
"Are you still okay?"
Kaelen waved his hand: "I struggled for a whole month at the bottom of the Abyss of Death and was fine, this much is nothing." Saying that, his gaze directed towards the inside of the canyon, his voice trembling saying: "Let’s go inside."
Inside the canyon, the elders and Sub-Beasts were sitting huddled into groups. Some people were bandaging each other, some people were hugging cubs sitting still, there were a few places covered with white cloth that no one dared to get close to.
The old Golden Peafowl clan Chief leaned on his stick walking over, intending to kneel down to give thanks. Before Kaelen had time to stop him, the whole crowd behind the old man had prostrated themselves.
"Do not kneel." Kaelen hurriedly supported the old man up.
He intended to ask a question, but before he had time to open his mouth, the hot air wave from earlier surged up in his chest again. Burning hot, then twinging once. Along with that was a child’s sobbing sound. Unlike the crying sound when first encountering, this crying sound was smaller, accompanied by a bit of grievance, making the couple’s hearts ache sharply.
Kaelen and Sane simultaneously raised their heads, looking straight towards the end of the canyon.
There, a young Sub-Beast was sitting flat under the cliff, tightly hugging a bundle in his chest. He had a dry blood streak on his cheek, one arm bandaged with cloth torn from a shirt flap. But the bundle was wrapped so carefully that not a single draft of wind was revealed.
Kaelen walked over. Every step was heavy.
The young Sub-Beast looked up at him, instinctively hugging the bundle a bit tighter.
"Can you let me see the baby for a bit?" Kaelen asked, his voice hoarse.
Larkspur hesitated for a moment, ultimately still leaning down pulling the outermost cloth layer back.
Inside was a baby about four months old, bright red hair, on his forehead dotted with sweat, his two hands tightly clenched into fists. On his neck hung a string braided from down feathers, the string’s end was a dark red stone.
The baby stirred, turning his head towards Kaelen.
The ruby eyes still wet with water blinked slightly twice. He looked at Kaelen, then looked over at Sane, then looked back at Kaelen. Then his mouth pouted out, his two hands reaching forward, wailing out loud bursting into sobs.
Kaelen covered his mouth, but a sobbing sound still escaped. He extended his hand wanting to hug his child, the young Sub-Beast fearfully looked up at Kaelen, his two hands tightening the bundle again.
Larkspur retreated backward, holding the child tightly in his embrace, screaming:
"This is my child!"
The baby cried even louder, his two hands reaching out flailing. Larkspur clumsily coaxed, patting on his back: "Blaise be good, do not cry, Uncle is here..."
But Blaise who was always obedient now was unusually stubborn. The boy not only did not stop crying, but also thrashed stronger.
Sane turned his face cold stepping up half a step, Kaelen immediately raised a hand blocking him.
He took a breath, slowly lowering his hand, then squatted down in front of Larkspur, sitting flat right on the stone floor, at Larkspur’s eye level. Kaelen spoke softly:
"Ignis, do not cry. Papa is here..."
The child immediately stopped struggling, the crying sound also smaller. The aggrieved whimpering sobbing sound was like a knife blade slicing into Larkspur’s heart. He closed his eyes, each teardrop falling, unwillingly saying:
"On what basis? You threw him amidst the freezing snowy weather, it was my own hands bringing him back to the tribe. Our whole clan from Sub-Beasts to beastmen took turns incubating him, it was my one hand caring for and holding him since he just broke out of the shell. On what basis do you want to snatch him from my hands!"
The old Chief pounded his stick hard down, shouting at Larkspur: "Larkspur, do not be insolent to them, they were exactly the ones who saved us!"
Larkspur stubbornly turned his face away, his hands still determinedly hugging Ignis tightly.
Kaelen pulled Sane to sit down beside him, then in front of everyone, activated the communication bracelet. The image was immediately connected; all six children were present in the frame. Oliver and Orion were carried by Finnick and Ryder in their arms, even Edward in his small grass form also sat neatly on Oliver’s head.
[Papa, you are awake? Where are you?]
"Mhm, Papa is awake. Papa wants to introduce you guys to someone."
He lightly pressed opening the bracelet, placing it on Larkspur’s wrist. The viewing angle suddenly shifted; Larkspur looked at the children in front of him and was dumbfounded. The children on the screen also simultaneously tilted their heads to the right. Finnick and Ryder spoke up together:
[Hello Uncle. Uncle, are you our Papa’s and Daddy’s friend?]
This adorableness almost spilled out of the screen, striking straight into Larkspur’s heart. He opened his mouth slightly, not knowing what to say. Down below suddenly there were continuous ’ya ya’ sounds. The child in his embrace unceasingly reached out his hands, wanting to look at the image in Larkspur’s hand.
The screen flickered slightly; Kaelen extended a finger transmitting Magical Energy into the magic stone on the bracelet. The image immediately stabilized.
Ryder tilted his head looking at Finnick: [Why is this uncle not saying anything? Could it be he cannot speak like Uncle Evan?]
Finnick scratched his head: [Probably he is being surprised...]
Larkspur did not answer, his line of sight staring intently at the child in Finnick’s embrace. Except for the species, hair color and eye color, this child’s face was actually exactly identical to Blaise. The child in the image seemingly also sensed his gaze, grinning his tiny mouth to smile at Larkspur.
The small dimple on the child’s left cheek appeared, shattering Larkspur’s final defensive line.
He closed his eyes, changing his posture hugging Blaise, letting the baby lean his back against his chest. Blaise finally got to look at his brothers as he wished. The children in the frame clearly froze for a bit, then were joyous cheering sounds.
[There is Ignis! He is also a Sub-Beast! Ignis, I am your second brother Ryder!]
[Hooray, our two fathers finally found him! Absolutely wonderful! Ignis, I am your third brother Finnick~]
[O... o... li..ve...]
[Ya ya~]
Larkspur looked at this scene and burst into tears. The Golden Peafowl clan’s people also could not hold back raising their hands to wipe tears.
Blaise was hit on the face by Larkspur’s falling tears. The boy raised his head, reaching out a hand wiping the tears for Larkspur, ’ya ya’ a few sounds. Larkspur tightened his arms hugging Blaise, continuously saying ’I am sorry’.
Kaelen and Sane only sat leaning against each other not saying anything, only occasionally transmitting a little Magical Energy into the bracelet to stabilize the image.
Larkspur cried until tired, then he proactively lifted the child in his embrace up, handing him into Kaelen’s hands. The couple immediately leaned their heads close together, lovingly looking at their family’s small Sub-Beast.
Sane smiled, lightly touching the boy’s right cheek, saying:
"Ignis and Orion, each child inherited one of your dimples."
Larkspur also tilted his head looking over, indeed seeing the dimples on both sides of Kaelen’s cheeks when he smiled. The communication bracelet due to not having its master’s Magical Energy reinforcing it had extinguished long ago; Larkspur took it off, handing it back to Kaelen.
Kaelen received the bracelet, explaining softly:
"We come from the Southern continent. This child went missing a month after birth, we have searched for him for a very long time..."
