The Plant Master Becomes A Mute Sub-Beast: Farming And Laying Eggs
Chapter 232: Elf Paper
The white elephant seemed to hear Sage Valmot’s mocking laughter clearly, its eyes glancing slightly, instantly changing direction to thunderously run toward them.
Upon arriving near them, its four legs as thick as pavilion pillars slid on the ground creating four long streaks, dust swirling up blindly.
"Cough cough! Cough cough cough!"
Everyone coughed violently, several Golden Bull people instinctively shielded the hotpot, avoiding dirt and dust flying in.
Waiting for the dust to settle, everyone then saw clearly, the white elephant had transformed into an old man. This old man was also round, but a different kind of round. He was a whole head shorter than Bertram, his body shrunken due to age making him look even more like a small jar wearing a hat. His pale gray skin was speckled with brown spots, his large ears drooped on both sides, but his eyes were bright, looking straight into anyone’s face he looked at.
Bertram panicked and ran over: "Master! Why are you walking yourself like this?"
The old man snorted coldly, holding onto Bertram’s arm and advancing forward. Kaelen even saw the old man’s two legs trembling, as if about to collapse on the spot. The old man was supported by Bertram to the front of Sage Valmot, raising his unsteady leg to kick Valmot twice:
"Damn old man, thirty years without bothering to send me a single message, as soon as you send one it is earth-shattering."
Valmot chuckled: "It’s also hard work for your old bones indeed, so old yet personally running all the way here." He glanced at the chubby group panting heavily running over, his eyes narrowing in a smile: "Oh my, Solomon, that bunch of juniors of your family also needs to be disciplined. A seven-hundred-year-old man like you running heavily all the way here without gasping for breath, they are truly something, running while panting like a bellows, I thought they were the old ones."
The White Elephant clan Sage turned his head to look, seeing his descendants every single one sweating profusely, their panting sounds could still be heard from a distance away. The old man’s face turned completely black, angrily pinching Bertram’s muscular arm hard:
"You bunch, made this old man lose all his face!"
Bertram spoke miserably: "Master, we normally only stay in the tribe doing handicrafts, when do we ever run long distances like this..."
"You still dare to argue?! Upon returning immediately add long-distance running into the training program for me!!!"
"Yes, yes, Master is right!"
Bertram did not dare to argue with the old man, hurriedly supporting him to the hotpot stove. Kaelen took a physical recovery potion bottle out of his spatial bag, dropped three drops into a bowl of warm water, then handed it to the old man to drink. The old man finished drinking, immediately felt his whole body refreshed, laughing boisterously:
"Good medicine, truly good medicine. I feel right now I could punch an old cow to death!"
Valmot’s hand picking up a potato paused slightly, his eyes rolling up: "Old man, who are you planning to punch?!"
"Hmph, I’m just saying it casually, don’t take everything personally, Valmot." The old White Elephant chuckled, turning to observe Kaelen’s couple and the Crimson Warriors present here, then his gaze stopped at the hotpot emitting thick smoke.
"Hehe, this old man truly has the luck to enjoy good food."
At this moment, the young White Elephant beastmen finally arrived, their hands on their knees panting heavily. Maxwell shook his head and let out a sigh, putting his arm around Bertram’s shoulder: "My friend, Sage Solomon is right, that bunch of brats of your family needs to train more."
Bertram nodded: "I see it. Upon returning I will tell the Chief to discipline them."
Kaelen handed medicine to a warrior, telling him to mix it for everyone to drink. He also told the Golden Bull people to set up two more stoves, making two more hotpots.
Solomon took a bone pipe out of the cloth bag on his waist, knocked it against the side of the hotpot, curiously asking: "What material is this thing made of, I have never seen it before?"
"This thing is a cast iron pot, Sir. It is forged from iron ore."
Sage Solomon naturally knew what iron ore was, his eyes brightening slightly, in his aged eyes shining a thirst for precious knowledge. In the ancient documents of the White Elephant clan there were also records, unfortunately it was only a fragmented document, only having the introductory part about iron and applied products from iron, while the latter part had been lost.
Kaelen picked up a few potato pieces putting them into a wooden bowl, then added a little broth and handed it to Solomon, along with a spoon. On the other side, the White Elephant beastman group did not know how to use chopsticks, only able to use a ladle themselves or wait for the Golden Bull beastmen to pick food for them.
Solomon stared intently at the chopsticks in Valmot’s hand, then looked at the spoon in his bowl, starting to have competitive thoughts: "Little brat who are you looking down on, quickly give those two sticks to me!"
Kaelen pursed his lips to hold back a smile, handing a clean pair of chopsticks over: "This thing is called chopsticks, Sage Solomon." Sane discreetly sat forward obscuring everyone’s view, while Kaelen behind him demonstrated how to hold the chopsticks once for the old man to see. Solomon struggled for a while, until a few potato pieces were mashed into soup paste, he then reluctantly knew how to use the chopsticks.
He raised his head, looking at Sane’s back, nodding in satisfaction: "This boy has good eyes in choosing a mate."
Kaelen curved his lips in a smile, two dimples immediately appearing clearly. Solomon seeing these two charming dimples, his favorable impression of Kaelen increased another notch. He spoke kindly: "Alright, I know how to do it. You boy just go eat, ignore me."
"Yes, please take your time eating."
Kaelen retreated to his seat, Sane glanced slightly, silently sitting back to his original place. Valmot took everything into his eyes, snorting lightly once, but the corners of his mouth curved up slightly. He increasingly liked these Crimson children, if only they were people of the Golden Bull tribe, how good would it be.
Glancing again at the brats of his clan, seeing they only knew how to bury their heads eating, the old man only wanted to grab his stick and hit them a few times.
The two Sages ate hotpot while talking softly, occasionally bursting into boisterous laughter, the atmosphere in the Golden Bull tribe was a piece of harmony.
After eating their fill and resting sufficiently, old Sage Solomon and Sane’s family went together to old Sage Valmot’s residence. Solomon refused Bertram’s help, walking by himself, even mocking Valmot as an old man about to enter the grave.
Valmot snorted coldly: "Old man, if it were not for my foundation being damaged in the past, do you believe right now I would press you down and beat you from a white elephant into a blue and purple elephant?"
Solomon smirked disdainfully: "Hmph, in your youth when not injured you still could not beat me, don’t inflate yourself to the sky anymore." Saying that, the old man turned to Kaelen holding his child beside him: "You two brats are also very strong, but your physical stamina foundation is still too poor. Wait a few days you guys follow this bunch of crazy bulls to train together, don’t forget to invite those brats of my family too."
Valmot glared: "I see you are targeting our clan’s Martial arts cultivation technique instead! Previously when offering it to you, you didn’t bother taking it, now wanting to take it back by beating around the bush like that, truly the older you get the more you regress."
Solomon curled his lip, not bothering to reply to his old friend. Everyone stepped into Valmot’s house area, Solomon was quite stunned by the neatness and order inside. One must know that old man Valmot was an inherently lazy person, if he could sit he absolutely would not stand, if he could lie down he absolutely would not sit. Let alone cleaning the house, even eating and drinking he was too lazy to move.
Valmot slid down from Maxwell’s back, baring his teeth grinning: "How is it? Stunned, right? It was this boy Sane’s family who helped me organize it. That boy Edward even made a list board hanging on each shelf, marking each area one by one. Now I only need to read this board to know which shelf, which tier, which slot the thing I am looking for is in. Previously looking for a book took half a day, now it only takes the time to drink a sip of water."
Solomon nodded, saying to Bertram: "Brat, remember this method, when returning to the tribe make one for me."
Bertram hurriedly nodded, pulling out sheepskin parchment and a reed pen to take notes and redraw the blueprint.
Waiting for everyone to sit down, old man Solomon then took a piece of paper from a letter tube, asking:
"About weapon forging I also want to know, but I want to know about this thing even more. Valmot, how do you have Elf paper?"
Valmot stroked his beard that Finnick had neatly combed and braided, smiling and saying: "How would I know what Elf paper is, this paper belongs to their couple. That boy Finnick even said in Crimson, they even use paper to wipe their butts."
Solomon’s hand trembled slightly, his face turning completely black: "Nonsense! Elf paper is so precious, even in the most prosperous time of the Beastman continent it took a whole year’s supplies to exchange for a few pieces of paper, you guys actually use paper to wipe butts?!"
Kaelen rubbed his nose, awkwardly saying: "Sage Solomon, actually this paper is not that precious. The paper we use for toilet paper is paper made from reed stems, neither durable nor prone to ink bleeding. The paper used for writing is made from Do tree bark, both tough and absorbs ink well, moreover can be kept for a very long time."
He took out a thick stack of paper from his spatial bag: "And this is paper made from wood pulp, compared to the paper made from Do tree bark it is many times better, but the production method is much more complex."
After all, hand-pounded paper would never be better than paper made from tree pulp after Chloe used her "Decompose" skill. However, this skill of Chloe consumed a lot of spiritual energy, therefore besides the three times she absorbed life force for the children to cultivate, he did not make her use this skill again. The amount of paper made from the wood pulp of those three giant trees was enough for him to use for several years.
Valmot and Solomon each picked up a piece of paper to examine, it was indeed much better than the type of paper Kaelen gave Valmot to write letters. The two old men clicked their tongues praising ceaselessly, then leaned their heads together to discuss something.
Old man Valmot stroked his beard and said: "I tell you, these two boys not only taught the brick making technique, also taught how to make wooden furniture for free, also made a spatial bag for me." He performed a show of taking things out and putting things in for Solomon to see: "This knowledge is too precious, we truly cannot be thick-skinned and ask people to teach for free, what do you think we should use to exchange with them?"
Old man Solomon nodded and said: "That is right. But I see the things we have compared to this knowledge have no value at all, momentarily cannot think of anything equivalent."
The two old men fell silent for a moment, a while later both their eyes lit up: "Got it!"
The two old men looked at each other, chuckling: "You also thought of it, right? Haha, fortunately we risked our old lives to keep it in the past, otherwise now we truly wouldn’t know what to take out to exchange."
Kaelen and Sane titled their heads in confusion, not knowing what these two old men were going crazy about again. Originally he was even intending to say giving them the paper making method for free, now seeing them like that, he unconsciously swallowed back the words he wanted to say. Sane turned and smiled at his mate, Kaelen could read the meaning he wanted to convey in his eyes.
The thing that the two Sages risked their lives to protect was definitely not an ordinary object, first let’s just see, if it can be used then why not take it.
