Chapter 7: Status Check

After being lowered from Igor’s shoulders, Qiu Nuoya and the others walked together through the glittering chapel.

As they approached the back, an elderly woman wearing a white robe, who appeared to be a nun, noticed their arrival and approached them.

"May I ask what brings you here today?"

Igor gave her a brief explanation of what had happened, including a request to check Qiu Nuoya’s status and have his identification documents reissued.

After listening, the nun motioned for Qiu Nuoya to follow her and guided him to another room.

The room was about the size of 10 square meters.

At the far end was a stand holding something that looked like a crystal.

Igor and Viktor accompanied him as far as the entrance, but only Qiu Nuoya was allowed inside.

He was told that this was a precaution to prevent others from viewing someone’s status without permission.

In other words, it was basically a personal information protection measure.

Once inside the room, Qiu Nuoya was instructed to place his hand over the crystal and pray.

But pray for what...?

He had no idea what he was supposed to pray for. Still, he closed his eyes and tried to look as if he were praying properly.

After a short while, a voice spoke.

"You may stop now."

"Here is your basic status information. It is truly remarkable. Are you perhaps some kind of divine child?"

The smiling nun handed him a piece of parchment filled with various letters and numbers.

However, Qiu Nuoya had absolutely no idea what was supposed to be so impressive about it.

He could read the letters, at least, but to him they were nothing more than a collection of words and numbers. He had no idea how to interpret them.

"Um, how exactly am I supposed to read this?"

"What do you mean?"

"You just said that my status was remarkable, but I don’t understand what part of it is supposed to be impressive. Also, what exactly is a divine child?"

The nun looked at Qiu Nuoya in surprise.

"Have you ever had your status appraised before?"

"No, I haven’t."

After all, Qiu Nuoya had only arrived in this world today.

"I see. If this is truly the first time you have seen your status, then I believe you should be much more surprised than this..."

After she said that, she began explaining his status to him.

According to her explanation, Qiu Nuoya had magical aptitude for all attributes.

His aptitude for holy attribute magic in particular was exceptionally high and his total magical power was greater than that of an ordinary person.

Holy attribute probably meant healing magic.

It seemed he could use other types of magic as well, but because his aptitude for holy magic was so outstanding, the nun had assumed that he might be a trainee priest, or rather, a "divine child."

His aptitude values outside of magic were not low either.

She confidently assured him that Qiu Nuoya would be able to make a decent living no matter what profession he chose.

Great!

However, despite having aptitude for magic, Qiu Nuoya had never actually used magic or defeated monsters before, so his level was still low.

Most of the numbers listed under his skills were only between one and three.

Though, he had to laugh when he saw that the only skill with a level of six was [Etiquette].

Apparently, skill levels were measured on a ten point scale.

Levels one to three were considered normal, while anything above five meant a person was more skilled than average.

The reason his technical skill [Etiquette] was at level six was probably because of the influence of his previous life.

After working in customer service for many years, he had apparently developed a habit of being extremely polite and humble without even realizing it.

The next highest skills were [Charm] and [Housework] both at level four.

The fact that someone with zero romantic experience possessed a skill called [Charm] made Qiu Nuoya laugh awkwardly.

Perhaps the God had given him a small bonus after hearing that he was interested in romance.

As for [Housework], since he had remained single until the age of forty, people could probably understand why that skill existed. ℯℯ𝘭.

Additionally, Qiu Nuoya was told that his personality related stat [Patience] was particularly high.

Patience...

Qiu Nuoya felt slightly discouraged by the fact that even something like that could be visualized.

He wondered whether it was really a good idea to turn every aspect of a person into numbers.

However, if he did not want to see such things, he simply had to avoid checking his status at the church.

Even so, Qiu Nuoya once again felt that he really disliked this status system.

Come to think of it, the status list also allowed him to see the special skills he currently possessed.

And somehow, he had the skill [Appraisal].

Igor had said that appraisal skills were rare, yet Qiu Nuoya already had one.

There had been no need to come to the church at all.

Well, he still needed to come here to have his identification documents issued, so the visit was not completely pointless.

Incidentally, his occupation was listed as [Missing Child].

When he saw it, he immediately wanted to say, "Seriously?"

But at the moment, there was no other way to describe him.

Qiu Nuoya was, in fact, someone who had gotten missing in another world.

So he had no choice but to accept it.

Next to [Missing Child] there was also the title [Novice Beast Tamer].

Apparently, he did have an aptitude for being a Beast Tamer.

Whether he would actually develop that ability in the future was a separate matter.

After all, he did not even know how to form a contract with a monster.

Without learning everything from the beginning, there was nothing he could do.

The nun also told him that she could appraise his future potential and determine how much he could grow.

However, she explained that it required a certain amount of donation money, so Qiu Nuoya declined.
