Since Rank G Adventurer was considered a trial period for adventurers, all they needed to do was successfully complete thirty missions.

As long as they worked seriously, they could usually reach Rank F within a month.

However, there was one condition.

They had to complete at least one extermination mission and one gathering mission.

Both Warren and Qiu Nuoya had already fulfilled those requirements.

They simply did not have enough completed missions yet.

That was why they could not rank up.

Warren personally disliked gathering missions.

If possible, he wanted to take extermination missions instead. But the only extermination mission available to Rank G Adventurers was usually slime extermination.

So when those slime missions disappeared, they were naturally forced to take gathering missions instead and Warren hated that.

Recently, goblin extermination missions had also started appearing.

However, goblins were much more difficult to defeat than slimes, so Rank G Adventurers were not allowed to take them on alone.

If they wanted to accept a goblin extermination mission, they needed to form a party with someone else. But Warren could not imagine Qiu Nuoya accepting a goblin extermination mission.

After all, Qiu Nuoya had turned the slime into his familiar specifically because he did not want to kill it.

Just when Warren was thinking that he might have to find someone else to form a party with, Qiu Nuoya suddenly said he was willing to take a goblin extermination mission.

Warren had never expected Qiu Nuoya to actively want to take an extermination mission.

So he immediately jumped at the opportunity.

"If that’s decided, let’s go accept the mission!"

"Huh? Right now!?"

"When you decide something, it’s better to act immediately. Come on, Qiu Nuoya!"

"Wait, right now!?"

Warren grabbed Qiu Nuoya and headed toward the Adventurers’ Guild without giving him much time to argue.

Before Qiu Nuoya could change his mind, Warren quickly accepted the mission with him and headed toward the eastern grasslands where goblins were said to appear.

However, since it was Qiu Nuoya’s first time visiting the eastern grasslands, he spent the entire journey looking nervous and uneasy.

Warren had been to these grasslands many times before, but there was nothing particularly frightening about the monsters that appeared there.

Sure, horn rabbits and cockatrices could be found around the area, but they would not attack unless they were attacked first.

As for goblins, they were nothing Warren’s sword skills could not handle.

At least, that was what he had thought.

He was forced to realize how wrong he had been only after Qiu Nuoya was taken away by goblins.

"Wha...!? Wait, Nuoya!?"

Along with a desperate scream that sounded like a cry for help, Qiu Nuoya’s figure disappeared into the tall grass.

Warren could do nothing.

He simply froze in place, unable to move. Then Igor shouted as if trying to snap him back to reality.

"You need to return to town and report this to the Adventurers’ Guild!"

"Huh? But we need to chase after him immediately!"

"I’ll go after him. Those goblins are moving together far too well. Something about them is wrong. If there is even a chance that there is a large goblin settlement nearby, the two of us alone won’t be able to handle it. That’s why you need to call for reinforcements!"

After giving Warren those instructions, Igor immediately disappeared into the grasslands, chasing after Qiu Nuoya.

"A large settlement..."

Goblins were individually weak monsters.

However, they had an abnormally high reproduction rate.

Once their numbers increased, they became a dangerous threat.

That was what made them such troublesome monsters.

Warren who had been arrogantly assuming the battle would be easy suddenly went pale.

He turned and ran toward the town as fast as he could.

No matter how weak a monster seemed, a monster was still a monster.

There was never any guarantee of safety.

Qiu Nuoya had barely any proper equipment.

He did not even have a weapon and Warren was the one who had brought him to a place like this.

His hands trembled.

He was scared.

What should he do?

If something happened to Qiu Nuoya... What would he do?

Overwhelmed by fear, Warren forced himself to keep running until he finally reached the Adventurers’ Guild.

Inside, he saw a familiar silver blond haired man speaking with one of the guild receptionists.

"Huh? You are..."

"A friend... Qiu Nuoya... The goblins took him... What should I do? They kidnapped him and carried him somewhere..."

The moment Warren said those words, Viktor’s expression changed completely.

"!? Where?"

"The eastern grasslands... Igor is chasing after them right now..."

The silver haired mage immediately turned pale.

Without waiting for the receptionist to finish speaking or for anyone to stop him, Viktor turned around and rushed out of the guild.

The guild employee was left speechless, but Warren repeated Igor’s message once more. The moment the employee understood the seriousness of the situation, they immediately began making arrangements in every direction.

Warren could not stop trembling.

He had thought it would be easy.

He had never imagined something like this would happen.

He even laughed at Qiu Nuoya when he suggested preparing proper equipment before setting out.

Now, Warren wanted to punch himself for that.

When he tried to head toward the grasslands to join the search, he was stopped.

They told him that he could not go right now.

If a Rank G Adventurer wandered around alone and ended up becoming another victim, the situation would only get worse.

With those words, Warren had no choice but to stop.

There was nothing he could do.

He waited at the eastern gate of the city for their return.

Simply standing there and waiting helplessly was unbearable.

Why had he not become an adventurer sooner?

If he had, he would have probably already reached Rank F by now.

Then he might have been allowed to participate in the search.

No.

If he had simply been more careful from the beginning, Qiu Nuoya would never have ended up in this situation.

It was frustrating.

So frustrating.

He hated how powerless he was.

He hated his own helplessness more than anything.
