Chapter 100: The Dungeon Guide

Huh? Did he do something strange again?

While Qiu Nuoya stood there looking confused, Viktor gave an awkward smile. "At the very least, with Nuoya around, I think we could safely explore even the most dangerous dungeon."

Could it be that he had activated another ridiculously overpowered cheat skill?

He had simply tried it and somehow succeeded. But this was getting a little too cheat like for comfort.

Qiu Nuoya spent several hours walking through the dungeon relying on the map in his mind, while collecting items and completing gathering and subjugation requests.

Eventually, they found themselves standing in front of a large door.

The door would not open no matter whether they pushed or pulled it. Just as Qiu Nuoya began wondering whether there was some kind of mechanism, Igor spoke up. "The previous challengers are probably still fighting."

"So we can’t enter while someone else is fighting?"

"Apparently, that’s how this floor works. It says so in the guidebook too."

The guidebook was something they had been given in front of the teleportation magic circle gate when they entered the Dungeon Castle for the first time and announced that they were first-time challengers.

It contained various warnings and information about the dungeon, which once again made Qiu Nuoya realize that the Dungeon Castle really was a tourist attraction for the city.

However, the information in the guidebook only covered up to the twentieth floor.

Apparently, there were no staff members stationed below that point and if an accident occurred and someone was injured, they were responsible for themselves.

In other words, up to the twentieth floor, staff members were stationed throughout the dungeon and could provide assistance whenever necessary.

A commercial dungeon... How interesting.

"Apparently, if we defeat the dungeon boss here, we can get a certificate proving the subjugation. Hm? It says that defeating it alone earns you an Rank E Adventurer qualification. Is this officially recognized by the Adventurer’s Guild?"

"Yes, yes, yes! You wandering adventurers over there! Are you having some trouble?" A man suddenly called out to them in an extremely energetic voice.

Startled, Qiu Nuoya and the others turned toward the source of the voice. Standing there was a man with a huge smile on his face. He was thin and lanky, with thick, bottle-bottom glasses that immediately stood out. He also looked so completely out of place in this dungeon that Qiu Nuoya could not help giving him a suspicious look.

Warren immediately stepped in front of Qiu Nuoya and responded in a confrontational tone. "Hey, old man! What do you want!?"

The man did not seem bothered at all. He maintained his smile and calmly replied, "I simply approached you because you appeared to be having some trouble. My name is Rogue, and I serve as a guide for this dungeon."

"A guide?"

"Yes. Since you are reading that guidebook, I assume this is your first time visiting the Dungeon Castle. If there is anything you do not understand, I would be happy to answer your questions."

"So this dungeon even has guides stationed here? You really have thought of everything."

"Everything we do is intended to help as many people as possible enjoy the Dungeon Castle. If you find yourself short on items before the boss battle, we also have items available for purchase," Rogue said it all with a cheerful smile.

Qiu Nuoya had already thought that the people in this city were remarkably business minded, but they really went this far. He could not help giving an awkward smile. "We don’t need to buy anything, but do you also buy items?"

"Of course! Do you have something you would like to sell?"

"I’d like you to take this off our hands. We found it lying around, but we have no idea what it’s used for." Igor held out a medicine bottle whose contents were unknown.

It made sense. If someone found a medicine lying on the ground but had no idea what was inside, there was no way they could safely use it.

Qiu Nuoya had secretly used his Appraisal skill to check the contents. Whether it was supposed to be a healing potion or an antidote, it was a low quality product with such weak effects that he doubted it would fetch much money.

Sure enough, Rogue appraised the medicine bottle and offered one copper coin for all five bottles.

Qiu Nuoya thought that sounded about right. Still, being able to make money from something they had simply picked up was certainly better than nothing.

"If you find any good dungeon items, please feel free to sell them to us again." Rogue seemed perfectly happy to deal with even suspicious looking medicine bottles. He was probably buying them like this, adding a little markup, and selling them again.

After all, once someone entered the dungeon, there was no other way to replenish their supplies until they returned outside. When the need arose, adventurers might have no choice but to buy even low quality goods.

From their perspective, it was probably a pretty good business.

"Now then, is there anything else you need help with? Come to think of it, I believe I heard you mention something about a qualification earlier."

"Yeah, that. The guidebook says that defeating the dungeon boss on this floor alone will earn you an Rank E qualification. Do we need to apply to the Adventurer’s Guild beforehand?"

"Not at all. Once you defeat the boss, I will personally issue you a certificate proving the subjugation. Simply take that certificate to the guild, and there will be no problem."

"Oh, so that’s how it works."

In that case, was Rogue essentially acting as an examiner for the promotion test?

Could he perhaps be affiliated with the Adventurer’s Guild?

"Well, these two are currently Rank F. What do you think? Want to give it a try?" Igor was already making another spur-of-the-moment suggestion.

"Igor, you’re being impulsive again... Well, I won’t stop you. I’m sure Nuoya could already defeat Rank E monsters without much trouble."
