The Ocean's Little Tyrant: A Mermaid Baby Conquers the 80s
Chapter 458 - 439: Using a Slingshot as a Gun
Sun Yaoqin was certain that no girl could resist such a beautiful shade of pink. None!!!
At the very least, not a single woman present wasn’t captivated by it.
"Don’t cut!"
Yun Jiao cried out as she came to her senses.
Sun Yaoqin and Sun Yaotong snapped out of it as well and nodded hastily.
"It’s already showing color after just that tiny cut. For the rest of it, just shave off the stone skin. Don’t cut into the jadeite inside."
The stone-cutting master nodded in understanding. Such a beautiful pink was rare, especially a high ice-type. It was even rarer than the green varieties of jadeite.
If the entire stone was like this, the value of this piece of jadeite would be incalculable.
And its value as a collector’s item would far exceed its value as jewelry.
Under the stone-cutting master’s careful hand, about half of the stone skin on the roughly twenty-kilogram rough was ground away.
More and more people gathered around, their eyes all fixed on the pink jadeite.
The shop owner’s face was twitching uncontrollably.
’Waaah... I’ve lost several priceless pieces of jadeite in one go today!’
Half the stone skin was now ground away, yet the jadeite’s color remained that exceptionally beautiful pink, and its quality and translucence were just as superb.
The piece of jadeite was growing more beautiful by the second.
"Young lady, sell this jadeite to me! I’ll offer a hundred thousand!"
A woman stared fervently at the pink jadeite, her adoration written all over her face.
One look at her and you could tell she was from a wealthy family and wasn’t short on cash.
"Sell it to me! I’ll give you one hundred and thirty thousand!"
Another woman chimed in with a bid.
Soon, other well-to-do people in the crowd began shouting out their own offers.
This time, before Sun Yaotong could say they weren’t selling, Yun Jiao herself shook her head.
"It’s not for sale. I’m keeping this jadeite for myself."
Indeed, that was Yun Jiao’s intention.
She adored its color and quality far too much.
Sun Yaotong was disappointed, but he understood.
He knew from Jiaojiao’s other collections that she loved all things beautiful. This piece of jadeite was so gorgeous that one couldn’t bear to cut it up. Just sitting there as a whole, without any need for carving, it was already the most eye-catching thing in the world.
Processing the rough jadeite took quite a long time. Apart from the thin layer of stone skin, the entire rock was composed of this beautiful pink, high ice-type quality jadeite.
There wasn’t a single flaw.
It was a true masterpiece of nature.
Eventually, two more masters joined in to help grind away the stone skin.
But despite the long wait, not a single person left.
And because this shop had produced several top-grade finds in a row, the number of people coming to buy rough stones had surged.
This, at least, made the owner feel a little better.
"It’s done."
The masters were drenched in sweat, their hands trembling slightly.
But looking at the masterpiece before them, they knew all their hard work had been worth it.
After being rinsed clean with water, the dreamily beautiful pink jadeite was completely revealed.
"It’s so beautiful!"
Someone took out a camera and, after asking for Yun Jiao’s permission, began taking pictures of the jadeite.
"It’s gorgeous."
Words like "beautiful" and "gorgeous" failed to do it justice; no one knew how to describe it.
It was getting late, so Yun Jiao simply picked up the twenty-kilogram pink jadeite.
The beautiful child holding the beautiful pink jadeite was a sight that made people unable to resist staring.
Sun Yaotong quickly had someone bring over a case and told Yun Jiao to put the jadeite inside.
The piece Sun Yaoqin had cut earlier and the Moss Green Jadeite Yun Jiao had found were also packed in their own separate cases.
He had brought bodyguards with him as well.
After all, the area was full of shady characters, and with jadeite this valuable, someone was bound to get greedy and try to rob them.
Compared to stone gambling, simply robbing someone of their high-value finds was a much more efficient venture.
"Let’s go. We need to get back quickly."
Now that they had several great treasures, Sun Yaotong felt anxious. It was better to head back early in case something unexpected happened.
Naturally, Yun Jiao and Sun Yaoqin had no objections.
But something unexpected happened anyway.
On their way back, they were ambushed.
There were quite a few of them—about twenty men, all armed.
Two of them were even carrying guns.
The leader was a fierce-looking man with a scar on his face. He held one of the guns.
"Hey, Boss. We just want the jadeite you’re holding. Be smart and leave the goods, and we’ll let you all leave safely. It’s not worth losing your lives over a few rocks, is it?"
He had a cigarette dangling from his lips as he pointed his gun toward the two children.
"Besides, you brought your two daughters along. I’m sure you wouldn’t want to see anything happen to them, would you?"
Sun Yaotong’s expression turned grim.
His bodyguards were armed, but they didn’t have any guns.
Yun Jiao blinked.
She didn’t have a gun, but she had ’bullets.’
Yun Jiao pulled a handful of steel ball bearings from her pocket.
"Hey, look over here."
In the tense atmosphere, Yun Jiao’s sudden cry immediately drew everyone’s attention.
The instant all eyes were on her, Yun Jiao fired a steel ball from her slingshot toward the group of men.
A WHOOSH tore past the scarred man’s ear. His pupils contracted, and he turned his head mechanically to look.
CLANG...
Something fell to the ground.
Everyone looked down.
They saw one of the thugs standing just behind the scarred man, an iron pipe resting on his shoulder. The thug’s hand was trembling, his entire body frozen stiff.
And that CLANG was the sound of the iron pipe falling from his hand.
A dent had appeared on the solid iron pipe.
A small steel ball was deeply embedded in the dent, and it was clear that the pipe itself had been warped by the impact.
For a moment, everyone was silent.
Then, swallowing hard, they all mechanically turned to look at the little girl. She was cute and looked completely harmless, but she now had one foot propped on the jadeite case, a slingshot in her hand.
Yun Jiao opened her hand, revealing several more steel balls resting quietly in her small palm.
"I have more ’bullets,’ you know."
Her voice was so soft and sweet, yet her words made the hearts of the scarred man and his gang tremble with fear.
"You... you..."
"Boss, what just happened? D-did you... see that clearly?"
The scarred man’s underling asked, his voice trembling.
The scarred man tightened his grip on his gun.
He wasn’t sure if even a bullet from his own gun could leave a dent that deep in a solid iron pipe.
"I didn’t see it clearly."
He really hadn’t.
But the memory of that sound tearing through the air past his ear sent a wave of fear through him even now.
’What if that thing had hit my head?’
Yun Jiao tilted her head and drew her slingshot again.
WHOOSH...
This time, it struck the very tip of the scarred man’s shoe, sinking deep into the leather and leaving a crater.
Yun Jiao said with dissatisfaction, "How about I aim for your body next?"
’It’s a shame I can’t just kill people in this world, or I’ll get arrested.’
The next second, the scarred man dropped straight to his knees.
"My lady, this is all a misunderstanding!"
’Obviously! What’s a little dignity compared to my life?’
This time he had seen it clearly. That kid could really use a slingshot and a tiny steel ball like a gun!
