The Ocean's Little Tyrant: A Mermaid Baby Conquers the 80s
Chapter 449 - 430: Cai Jinhua’s ’Confession
Yun Xiaoqi really did love making money, and he wasn’t dumb when it came to his studies either.
He didn’t know how much Qin He was worth, nor did he care.
He only asked what Qin He would teach him.
Qin He simply told him that he would teach him how to make money.
That alone was enough to sway Yun Xiaoqi.
As for the danger, Yun Xiaoqi wasn’t afraid. He even found it challenging in an exciting way.
After spending two days with Qin He, Yun Xiaoqi agreed.
The Yun family, however, was a bit reluctant.
After all, if they really agreed, Yun Xiaoqi would have to follow Qin He to Shanghai.
To the Yun family, Qin He was just a stranger they had met once. How could they possibly feel at ease?
Qin He understood this.
In the end, they came up with a compromise.
Qin He would leave his assistant here to temporarily help with Yun Xiaoqi’s studies.
Once he graduated from junior high, he would have to go study by Qin He’s side.
With Qin He making such a huge concession and even preparing special tutors for Yun Xiaoqi, what reason did the Yun family have to refuse?
Besides, they had seen the customized study plan from Qin He. It didn’t interfere with his regular classes, only adding some extra subjects they couldn’t make heads or tails of.
There was also physical training, for which Qin He had specially hired mercenaries and veterans to instruct Yun Xiaoqi.
He even said that if other children in the Yun family wanted to learn, they could be taught as well.
These were learning opportunities that ordinary people would never have access to.
The Yun family was at a loss for words. With such arrangements, they felt they owed him a huge favor.
After talking with Qin He, they learned that the money for paving the village road had also been donated by him.
Qin He explained that the Yellow Lip Fish Jelly from the fish Yun Jiao had helped him catch had been a great help. He originally wanted to give the Yun family some money or a gift as compensation, but they wouldn’t accept it.
He later learned that Yun Jiao’s family had donated a sum of money to the village, so he simply donated a sum to the village as well.
Yun Jiao asked curiously, "Uncle Qin, are you sure you’re not here to do charity?"
Spending so much energy and money just to choose a godson?
Qin He smiled. "For the person I am today, money is the easiest thing to obtain."
"Using the thing that’s easiest for me to get to cultivate a group of outstanding talents—that’s worthwhile to me."
He was blunt. "Take your Brother Qi, for example. Even if he doesn’t end up being my godson, given the bond we have now, if he goes on to build his own successful career, then I’ve succeeded. He will become part of my network."
"It’s the same for the others."
"Of course, I can’t deny that some of them might betray me in the future. After all, the human heart is complex, and you never know how a person will change. But to eliminate all other possibilities just because of that one risk? I’m not that gutless."
It had to be said, Qin He was a very charismatic person.
At least, Yun Xiaoqi was already deeply impressed by him.
’Oh well. As long as Brother Qi likes it and knows what he’s doing, that’s all that matters.’
Since Qin He was willing to pour all these resources into her brother, they might as well accept it gracefully.
Qin He directly bought a plot of residential land in the village, not far from their house, and then, wasting no time, had a house built.
This house was for the people who would be teaching Yun Xiaoqi in the future.
’Now that’s what you call a true tycoon.’
Yun Jiao felt that compared to a real businessman like Qin He, she wasn’t rich at all.
Qin He didn’t stay long. The people he had arranged for Yun Xiaoqi would only arrive after the house was built.
He left after setting everything in motion.
This time, Yun Jiao and the others went to see him off.
Around this time, quiet changes were also taking place in the village.
The road construction was now officially on the agenda.
Most of the villagers went to lend a hand.
This road was quite important to the villagers. Other villages wanted to build roads but couldn’t afford it.
Even if some of the men had to go out to sea to fish, the women could also contribute, helping to transport sand and carry stones—they could do it all.
And everyone worked with a smile on their face.
After all, this wasn’t volunteer work; they were getting paid for it.
While the road construction in Bailong Village was in full swing, the construction on Yun Jiao’s island had also begun.
The security net was already in place, and some building materials had been transported to the island without anyone in Bailong Village knowing.
Yun Jiao emerged from the sea, bidding farewell to the killer whale lingering in the distance.
"Go on back. I’ll come find you next time."
The killer whale reluctantly swam away.
Yun Jiao shook her hair.
Her days had fallen into a routine again: wake up early to ride her horse, go to school, visit her master, come back and practice depending on the situation, and sometimes go to the sea in the afternoon to catch a few things, play with the whales, and check on the progress of the house on her island.
All in all, her days couldn’t be more fulfilling.
Oh, and with Uncle Wang Jianlin’s help, Grandma Shen’s persimmon cakes were exhibited at the Chamber of Commerce. They got great publicity and received a lot of orders, so there was no need to worry about sales this year.
Yun Jiao and the others had gone along too, broadening their horizons in the process.
Yun Xiaoqi was especially interested in this. The young boy went around pitching the family’s persimmon cakes to everyone he could, and with his gift of gab, he was responsible for bringing in most of the orders.
After returning, Yun Xiaoqi even suggested that Grandma Shen’s family get a few dogs for the persimmon orchard.
"Grand-auntie, your family’s fortunes are improving, and I’m afraid some people might get jealous and target the persimmon orchard. We’ve accepted orders, and if something unexpected happens and we can’t fulfill them, it will seriously damage our reputation."
Hearing him lay out the pros and cons so clearly and logically, everyone started looking at him in a new light.
Uncle Shen patted his shoulder. "You’re really something, kid. We adults didn’t even think of that."
Yun Xiaoqi smiled shyly.
Everyone took this to heart. They didn’t tell anyone about the orders after they got back, but finding good dogs wasn’t so easy.
During the road construction, the number of outsiders in Bailong Village increased.
Everyone was busy, so their supervision of the children slackened.
One day, while Yun Jiao was playing cat’s cradle with a few of the village girls, Cai Jinhua sidled up to them with a smile.
Yun Jiao couldn’t even be bothered to glance at her.
"Yun Xiaohua, are you all bored playing here? Come on, Auntie will give you some candy."
Yun Jiao said, "My family doesn’t let me take things from just anyone."
Yun Xiaohua and the others were actually tempted, but after hearing Yun Jiao, they looked away.
Cai Jinhua sighed dramatically. "Jiaojiao, Auntie knows I was mean to you before, and I apologize. But ever since Zhaodi and the others left, I’ve truly realized I was wrong. Now, seeing you all just reminds me of them."
She put on a sad face and even wiped the corner of her eye. "How could I have been such a monster? I shouldn’t have treated Zhaodi and her sisters like that..."
Yun Jiao just sucked on her lollipop, her expression blank. Seeing Cai Jinhua cry, Yun Xiaohua and the other girls started to feel sorry for her.
"Auntie, don’t cry. Zhaodi and the others..."
Yun Jiao cut in, "Sister Laidi and the others may be gone, but you still have your precious son."
The other kids didn’t know what to say, so they just nodded along.
Cai Jinhua: "..."
’As I thought, I still can’t stand Yun Jiao. How can this kid have zero sympathy!’
"Jiaojiao, Auntie has a favor to ask you."
Yun Jiao said lazily, "Let’s hear it first."
