The Ocean's Little Tyrant: A Mermaid Baby Conquers the 80s

Chapter 371 - 367: Yun Xiaojiu: My Good Brother, Su Huan

  • Next Chapter

Yun Jiao took her brothers to buy quite a few things outside the school.

Though she was small, she had a huge appetite, buying almost everything she saw that she wanted to eat.

"Okay, okay, we can’t eat all this! We can’t possibly finish it all!"

Yun Jiao’s brothers, each with their hands full of bags, watched in terror as she prepared to buy even more.

It was the first time they’d ever felt distressed from buying too much food.

Yun Jiao glanced over. "It’s fine. We can take whatever we don’t finish back home for Dad and Mom to eat."

"But it only tastes good when it’s hot."

"Oh, I guess that’s true."

The surrounding vendors were left speechless watching Yun Jiao spend money so freely.

’This kid really knows how to spend. You can tell her family isn’t short on cash.’

"Let’s head back then."

"Whose classroom should we eat in?"

Yun Xiaojiu said, "My classroom."

"Majority rules! We’re going to our classroom!"

Yun Xiaowu and the others said in unison.

In the end, of course, Yun Xiaojiu lost. The delicate little crybaby was no match for his older brothers.

But they still had to go to his classroom to get his lunch box.

Yun Jiao went along with them.

With class dismissed for lunch, the classroom was mostly empty. The students who lived far away hadn’t left, having brought their own lunches.

Su Huan had also brought his lunch: a multi-grain steamed bun and a boiled sweet potato.

That was it. A single glance told you there wasn’t a drop of oil in it; the food looked dry enough to choke someone.

He ate it without a change in his expression.

The meal reminded Yun Jiao of the time when her own family was poor.

But even when they were at their poorest, they could at least eat a bit of seafood they’d foraged from the shore.

Yun Xiaojiu glanced at the things in his hands, then shoved a bottle of yogurt and two large meat-filled Baozi toward him.

"Here, for you. My sister’s treating us today, and she bought way too much food for us to finish."

Then, as if afraid Su Huan would return the food, he grabbed Yun Jiao’s hand and ran off.

Yun Xiaojiu glanced furtively at his sister. "Jiaojiao, you’re not mad at me, are you?"

Yun Jiao was confused. "Why would I be mad?"

"I gave him the Baozi you bought."

"But we still have so many. It’s fine that you gave them to him."

She knew that Brother Nine was the most soft-hearted one in the family, the one who empathized most easily with others.

Yun Xiaojiu continued to tell her about Su Huan.

"I’ve seen him a few times before. He only fights with people because they corner and bully him first."

"And his dad... I don’t know the exact reason, but I heard some people at school say he killed someone. But I don’t think that’s right. Spreading rumors without knowing the facts... if there’s some misunderstanding, Su Huan would be really sad."

Yun Jiao said to him, "Brother Nine, you’re amazing."

Yun Xiaojiu smiled shyly.

After they left, Su Huan stared at the food in front of him for a long time.

He had always known his deskmate was always finding clumsy excuses to give him things.

But before, it had always been small things—a piece of fruit, two or three candies.

This time, it was Baozi that could actually fill his stomach.

The Baozi were still warm, and they were filled with meat.

Two of them.

Su Huan pressed his lips together. In the end, he only ate one.

He thought to himself, ’I’ll have to protect him more carefully from now on.’

Having eaten the food, Su Huan officially brought Yun Xiaojiu under his protection.

Yun Xiaojiu didn’t know that not everyone in his class liked him.

Some of the boys were jealous of his popularity; kids get jealous too.

Being unpopular and less dazzling themselves, they would grow jealous of those who shone brightly.

Su Huan had previously overheard a few boys talking trash about Yun Chen’an, saying they were going to teach him a lesson by putting things like a dead rat in his desk.

After that, he beat them up and threatened them until they learned to behave.

"We’re back."

The siblings gathered to eat, and the rich variety of food stunned Yun Xiaowu’s classmates.

A few of the boys who were good friends with Yun Xiaowu and the others came over to snag some food. Yun Jiao and her brothers were generous, since they couldn’t finish it all anyway.

The chubby, fair-skinned boy they had met in the dean’s office was holding his own lunch box. The food inside was also quite sumptuous, and he had been mustering up the courage to approach Yun Xiaowu’s group to thank them with some of his tasty treats.

But he too was stunned by the spread of food on Yun Xiaowu’s table.

The chubby boy muttered, "It’s even more than what I have!"

After they finished eating, there was still a lot of food left over.

Yun Xiaojiu took some of it. "Give these to me."

Yun Jiao asked, "Brother Nine, are you going to take that to Su Huan?"

Yun Xiaojiu nodded. "Mhm. He eats so little every day. He’s so skinny."

Although Su Huan was still young, around the same age as Yun Xiaojiu, he had a relatively large frame, which only made him look even thinner.

Yun Jiao didn’t mind. They weren’t going home until the afternoon anyway, so she could just buy something fresh for their parents on the way back.
