Chapter 349 - 347: Avenging Yun Sui

Another grand birthday passed, and Yun Jiao was now five years old.

And now the family had a metal boat.

After her birthday, Sun Yaotong left for a while. He said he was going to get some kind of permit, one that would allow them to salvage shipwrecks at sea more legally.

The Yun family was discussing whether or not to send Yun Jiao to school.

Yun Jiao propped her chin on her hands, not really wanting to go.

’It’s not that I don’t want to go to school,’ she thought. ’It’s just that the lessons in preschool and first grade are too easy for me. Sitting in a classroom listening to teachers talk about things I already know is really boring and a waste of time.’

’Even with math, my weak spot, I can get a passing grade on tests thanks to my third brother’s tutoring. And my other subjects are even better.’

"Dad, Mom, I’m going to go get my brothers!"

Yun Jiao glanced at the time. It was almost when school let out.

She was bored sitting at home, so Yun Jiao stretched and decided to wheel out her little bicycle.

When she got to the door, Cat Boss, the tabby, hopped on. Yun Jiao scooted forward a bit to make room for it.

Cat Boss settled down, lying against her back.

Two dogs, already quite large and sturdy, flanked her on either side.

Needless to say, with these two dogs following her, even strangers wouldn’t dare try to bully her.

Full of energy, Yun Jiao pedaled her little bicycle down the road, humming a song.

Suddenly, her gaze fell upon a group of children by the river.

"Idiot! Look at the idiot going to school."

"Hey, idiot, get up and carry our bookbags for us."

"You stupid idiot, you didn’t even finish my homework for me yesterday. I got chewed out by the teacher because of you! Brothers, let’s teach him a good lesson today."

When Yun Jiao heard the group of kids calling someone an "idiot," her heart sank.

She immediately dropped her little bike and ran toward the river.

The two dogs and the tabby cat naturally hurried to follow.

"Stop!"

Yun Jiao could already see that the one they had surrounded and were bullying was none other than Yun Sui.

’Just what I was afraid of has happened.’

Her eyes flashing with fury, Yun Jiao rushed over and kicked down the leader, the one who was hitting the hardest. Then she straddled him and started slapping him across the face, again and again.

"Don’t know how to act human, huh? Well, your granny here is going to teach you a lesson today."

The boy howled in pain.

The other kids wanted to help, but with two big dogs standing guard, no one dared to approach.

Of course, Yun Jiao wasn’t about to let them off either. After slapping the boy a few more times, she got up and started kicking the others.

One by one, she kicked them all into the river.

Then she pulled up Yun Sui, who was lying by the riverbank, and sheltered him behind her.

Though small, she was like a mother cat protecting her kitten.

"What class are you all in? You might look human, but you sure don’t act like it! A whole group of you ganging up on one person. You’re a bunch of shameless, cowardly little bullies!"

"So what if he’s slow? Is he eating your family’s food?!"

"All of you stay in the water! Don’t any of you dare come out!"

She kicked a boy who was trying to climb out back into the water.

The kids in the river started bawling, partly from pain and partly from fear.

Yun Jiao turned around and saw a filthy Yun Sui staring at her with his unusually bright eyes.

Then, his eyes turned red, and he started to cry.

"WAHHH... Yun Jiao, Jiaojiao, they... they all bully me."

Like a dirty little stray cat that had finally found its protector, he let out all his grievances in tears.

It broke Yun Jiao’s heart.

’Her family had worked so hard to help Yun Sui put on some weight, and now, after not seeing him for just a few days, he was this thin and bullied like a stray cat.’

Yun Jiao raised her hand to wipe away his tears.

"Don’t cry, don’t cry. We’ll get them back."

Over in the river, the kids Yun Jiao had beaten were now begging for mercy, snot and tears streaming down their faces.

Yun Jiao put her hands on her hips. "Apologize!"

"We’re sorry."

"Are you apologizing to me? Apologize to him!"

The kids hastily apologized to Yun Sui.

Only then was Yun Jiao satisfied. She shot them a disdainful look and then led Yun Sui away, her head held high.

Yun Jiao muttered to herself the whole way.

"This isn’t the first time you’ve been bullied, is it?"

Yun Sui nodded obediently.

Yun Jiao put her hands on her hips again. "Then why didn’t you tell us? Didn’t I tell you before to tell my brothers or me if you were being bullied? If you don’t say anything, we won’t know."

Yun Sui looked aggrieved. "They said if I told on them, they’d beat me and my grandpa."

Obviously, those kids knew about his family situation.

Bratty kids weren’t afraid of an old man.

Yun Jiao tapped him on the forehead.

"They said that and you believed them? If you had told us earlier, we would’ve taught them a good lesson. Then we’d see if they still dared to bully you."

She asked again, "How are your studies?"

Yun Sui said, "The teacher says I’m dumb."

"I can’t read the words."

’Okay, what’s the difference between him going to school and not going at all?’

Yun Jiao took him home.

When Shen Yunlian saw the state he was in, she cried out.

"How did you end up like this?"

Yun Sui had been beaten and pushed into the river. Not only was he soaking wet, but he was also covered in mud. He was a filthy mess.

Yun Jiao said, "Mom, is there any hot water for him to take a bath? We also need to boil some ginger soup, with lots of ginger. He got bullied by other kids."

Shen Yunlian lovingly pulled Yun Sui over to the fire to warm up.

"I’ll go boil some water. Jiaojiao, go get a set of your Brother Qi’s clothes."

"Got it."

Seeing Yun Sui like this, Granny Yun knew he had been bullied and started muttering curses.

The curses were, of course, directed at the children who had bullied Yun Sui.

The mother-in-law and daughter-in-law got to work, one boiling water and the other brewing ginger soup.

Although the weather wasn’t as cold anymore, the river water was still frigid.

Once Yun Sui was clean, the bruises from the beating became even more obvious.

Granny Yun’s heart ached just looking at them.

The boy might not be bright, but he was optimistic and sincere, and their whole family was very fond of him.

"This is just awful. How on earth do those kids’ parents raise them? Why would they bully a classmate?"

"I’ll go get the medicinal wine. We need to rub out these bruises."

Rubbing out bruises is very painful. Yun Sui bit down on a small wooden stick that Yun Jiao had put in his mouth, his eyes welling up with tears.

"Just bear it for a bit. It’ll be better once they’re rubbed out."

Yun Xiaowu and the others came back then, scratching their heads at the scene.

"What’s going on here?"

Yun Jiao recounted the story of Yun Sui being bullied once more.

Yun Xiaowu rolled up his sleeves, ready to go pick a fight.

"They dare bully my little brother? They’re really asking for a beating! Yun Sui, why didn’t you come find us?!"

Yun Sui answered, crying from the pain.

"Gym class... they pulled me away... if I didn’t go, they hit me."

Yun Jiao said, "You mean the last period was gym class, and they took you away from school early, right?"

Yun Sui nodded.

Since they weren’t in the same class, it was hard to look out for him sometimes, even if they wanted to.

"Who were they? I’ll go teach them a lesson for you!"

The moment he said it, Shen Yunlian slapped him on the back.

"All you know is how to act tough. If you go and hit them, then you’ll be the one in the wrong."

"Does your grandpa know about this?"

Shen Yunlian asked Yun Sui. This clearly hadn’t just been going on for a day or two.

Yun Sui shook his head. "Didn’t tell. He’d worry."

He was afraid of making his grandpa worry.

His grandpa was old, and Yun Sui didn’t want him to worry.
