The Ocean's Little Tyrant: A Mermaid Baby Conquers the 80s
Chapter 277: Wang Dali and Liu Hong Get a Beating
"You shut your mouth!"
Mrs. Wang also rushed in, pointing at her with her daughter, Wang Mei, and started yelling.
"You know damn well what shady business you were up to before you married my brother. We don’t even know if those kids are really my brother’s!"
Being confronted so directly about the children, Liu Hong was clearly flustered for a moment.
"You—you’re talking nonsense! Daming and Erming are your brother’s! What kind of sister are you? Do you want your brother to have no heir?"
’I absolutely cannot admit it.’
After she spoke, Liu Hong realized something was wrong. ’Didn’t I ask Brother Wa to send someone to take care of Wang Mei and those people? Why are they fine?’
She had passed the message to Brother Wa and then gone straight home, mainly because she was afraid Wang Mei would suspect her and drag her into it.
’Could it be they couldn’t find them?’
Mrs. Wang said, "If you ask me, Daming and Erming don’t look a single bit like my son."
She turned and pointed at Wang Dali, scolding, "You abandoned Lan Hua for a thing like this? How could I have given birth to such a heartless creature! Lan Hua even went to get checked and there’s nothing wrong with her body. Why won’t you go get checked yourself!"
Wang Mei added, "Brother, just go to the hospital and get checked."
’If it had only been Sister-in-law Lan Hua, her brother could have blamed it all on her. But Liu Hong has been married to him for so long now, and both her children belong to someone else.’
’No wonder she never felt close to these two kids. Their faces don’t resemble anyone from the Old Wang Family at all.’
"There’s nothing wrong with me!"
Wang Dali’s pride on this matter was immense, and he was incredibly stubborn. "Daming and Erming are my children! What are you all doing, causing a scene here?!"
Father Wang slapped him right across the face, his pointing hand trembling slightly.
"You—you’re trying to kill us with anger!"
Wang Dali’s eyes reddened as well. "Mom, Dad, stop making a scene! Do you only save face if your son is infertile? There’s definitely nothing wrong with me. How could it possibly be my problem?"
He simply refused to believe that Daming and Erming were not his children.
Liu Hong plopped right down on the ground and began to throw a tantrum.
"This is bullying! What kind of in-laws and sister-in-law barge into your home and claim your children aren’t part of the Old Wang Family? Why is my life so miserable? I gave Wang Dali two sons, but his family won’t accept me and even comes here to humiliate me like this! I might as well just bash my head in and die!"
As she spoke, she got up and pretended she was about to run her head into the wall.
But Wang Dali grabbed her.
Just as the commotion was at its peak, a brick flew over and landed by her feet.
"Use this! Use this and hit your head hard."
Yun Jiao gestured from behind them, her eyes urging her on, as if to say, ’Hurry up.’
Liu Hong: "..."
She gritted her teeth in hatred. ’That little bitch! I wish I could take that brick and smash it over Yun Jiao’s head!’
"We have more over here."
Yun Xiaowu and the others also came over, carrying a few bricks.
"So, are you going to do it or not?"
As she spoke, Yun Jiao gave her brothers a look, and they all lunged forward to pull Wang Dali away.
"What are you doing? Let go of me!"
Wang Dali was shocked. ’These kids are surprisingly strong.’
"Go on. No one’s stopping you now."
Everyone just stared at Liu Hong.
Wang Mei crossed her arms. "Heh. Weren’t you making a scene about wanting to die just now? Don’t tell me it was all an act?"
Liu Hong gritted her teeth, completely unsure of what to do next.
But death was out of the question; she cherished her life far too much for that.
So, she simply sat on the ground, slapped her thigh, and started wailing again.
Mrs. Wang had long run out of patience. She grabbed a broom and started whacking her with it.
"You home-wrecker! You’re a menace! The Old Wang Family must have had eight lifetimes of bad luck to run into a shameless hussy like you! Your in-laws aren’t even dead yet, and you’re already after our family’s old house and money!
And you’ve taken everything from my son’s home and given it to your own family! You’re just wicked! Ever since my eldest son set up his own household, he’s aged day by day.
He looks like he’s from the same generation as my husband now! He’s so skinny you can see his bones, while you’ve gotten fat! How could we have been so blind and foolish to let a shameless jinx like you into our family!"
Mrs. Wang chased Liu Hong around the courtyard, beating her. Her words weren’t just from her heart; they were meant for the surrounding neighbors to hear.
She had just seen people peeking curiously over the top of the wall.
Jiaojiao and the other children bringing the bricks, despite their young age, was an act that people would inevitably gossip about.
So, Mrs. Wang decided to openly expose Liu Hong’s schemes and voice her own grievances to distract everyone.
After being chased and hit with the broom a few times, Liu Hong grew furious. She snatched the broom from Mrs. Wang’s hands and was about to hit her back.
"You old hag, I’ve been way too easy on you!"
She wasn’t a good-tempered person to begin with.
Wang Mei rushed forward. "You dare!"
But something faster than Wang Mei arrived first: another broom.
One covered in chicken droppings, no less. With that speed and force, it was naturally the handiwork of Yun Jiao.
The blow knocked Liu Hong straight to the ground. And then there was the smell.
"BLECH..."
Wang Mei went up and gave her a kick. "You wanted to hit my mother? You’ve really lost your mind."
Wang Dali wanted to help, but he was too busy being chased and beaten by his father to dare fight back.
As for Liu Hong’s two children, they were surrounded by Yun Xiaowu, Yun Xiaoqi, and the others, who were holding bricks threateningly. The two boys didn’t dare move a muscle.
Only after they had vented all their anger did the Wangs finally leave.
Finally, Father Wang pointed at Wang Dali and said, "From now on, I’ll act as if I don’t have you as a son. Our families should have no more contact."
He was truly disappointed in this son.
Fortunately, their family still had their fourth son. The fourth one was a good, filial boy.
The last time he came back, he had even bought his parents two new sets of clothes and shoes each.
Wang Dali watched his family’s departing figures, then sat down on the threshold, completely crestfallen. His father’s parting words echoed endlessly in his mind.
He didn’t even pay attention to Liu Hong’s curses.
’Could it be... that he had really been wrong?’
’All he wanted was a son. He didn’t want people calling him a dead-end, unable to produce an heir. He didn’t want to adopt one of his brothers’ children, and he certainly didn’t want to be the subject of gossip.’
’Is a man who can’t have children still a man?’
But thinking about how everything had turned out, Wang Dali clutched his head, feeling like his mind was a tangled mess.
