The Natives of This World Are Fierce

Chapter 396: Chapter 394: Vegetation Surrounds the City
Having seen the vision of the past that Su Su had conjured, Qin Xiaoxia was now somewhat inclined to believe that the Caslopa World might truly be the fabled land blessed by the Medland Law.
No matter how many anomalous invasions Earth World had suffered, there was at least one thing Qin Xiaoxia was now certain of.
The world he inhabited, its Power of the World, must possess a unique devouring ability. In fact, his own Magic Power shared a similar attribute to some degree.
Other worlds might possess similar abilities, but Earth’s was clearly on another level.
It wasn’t unheard of for World Fragments or special items from an Outer World to fall into other worlds; there were even similar records in the data on Magic Patterns collected by the Dawn Association. But for a world to directly devour a Hell Fragment, as Earth had, was simply unprecedented.
Had this happened in any other world, it would have most likely created an environment resembling the Hell Fragment at the impact site, forming a new danger zone or landmark.
Its inhabitants might be able to eliminate it, but for the world to cleanse itself would be a very long process. Even if such an environment eventually dissipated, it would be a trivial matter for the world itself—like washing away a bit of grime, at best.
But on Earth, the valuable parts of the Hell Fragment—along with the assimilated Flame Demon—were directly "digested." As for the worthless parts? The 19th Organizational Department couldn’t even bring themselves to throw away the pile of porous, ashen rock that was left of the Flame Demon.
As far as Qin Xiaoxia knew, Norton had even gone so far as to transport that pile of ash to a high-security base.
That’s right. The 19th Organizational Department had privately asked the Dawn Association if the Flame Demon’s corpse was useful. Dawn’s answer was no, but they still didn’t throw it away!
"Mentor... The beef brisket is getting cold..."
Su Su did her best to keep the aggrieved tone out of her voice. She had gone to the trouble of making it, only for Doudou to run off with most of the pot.
"Oh..."
Qin Xiaoxia felt a little embarrassed. This was the first time Sister Su had cooked for him; he should at least show some appreciation. ’It has to be better than Doudou’s cooking, right?’
He picked up his spoon and took a bite. To his surprise, the texture was incredible. It was quite possibly the best pea and beef brisket he had ever had.
He hadn’t really eaten much these past few days. The large, delicious bowl was polished off in minutes, down to the last drop of broth.
"Hehehe... Mentor, how was it?"
"I mean it, that was delicious. You’re such a good cook, you never should have been working at that amusement park!"
The praise was genuine. If he weren’t so pressed for time, Qin Xiaoxia would have been tempted to put Su Su in charge of all the cooking.
"No way! If I hadn’t worked there, how would I have met you and Doudou?!"
Su Su retorted earnestly before beaming and carrying the dish away.
She was still in a great mood when she got back to the kitchen to wash the dishes.
’Using Magic Divination for cooking is an absolute game-changer~~’
She rolled up her sleeves and turned on the faucet. This time, Su Su had no intention of using her Secret Realm Power for a chore like washing dishes; it felt like indulging in a bit of role-play.
"Hey! Su Su! Make me another pot! I’m not full!"
Doudou ran back into the kitchen, pot in hand. He and Gou Dandan had polished off the beef brisket long ago, but they had spent quite a while longer stubbornly mopping up every last bit of broth with flatbread.
To think this busty girl’s cooking was leagues better than Big Bro’s. He’d never seen her lift a finger in the kitchen before. It was simply unbelievable. Doudou felt it could probably be nominated as a new wonder of the world.
Hearing the little guy’s clamor, Su Su’s cheeks puffed out in anger. ’The Mentor obviously wasn’t finished eating,’ she thought. ’It would have been nice to bring him the rest of the pot.’
She spun around, glared at Doudou, and snatched the pot from his hands.
"You have the nerve to ask for more? You already snatched most of it, the Mentor didn’t even get to eat his fill!"
"Big Bro eating less won’t kill him, but I’m different! And another thing, you stewed the brisket with peas! My name is Doudou! That’s practically cooking my family!"
Su Su was so exasperated she laughed, slamming the pot into the sink and putting her hands on her hips.
"Is that really your argument? Then what am I supposed to stew the brisket with?"
"Potatoes!"
"Don’t those come from the same patch of dirt as your ’family’?"
"Whatever! You still have to give me half a pot!"
"CHIRP... He’s right!"
Gou Dandan’s avian head poked in through the kitchen window. He was bigger than an ostrich now, though his appearance was quite different. His body looked powerful, and while his feet had bird-like talons, his legs were as sturdy as a person’s.
It wasn’t so easy for Su Su to hug him anymore.
"You little traitor, Dandan. Siding with Doudou now, are you? Who was it that raised you when Jiutian and your parents weren’t around?"
"Behold, my secret weapon!"
Seeing that Sister Su was starting to get really fierce, Doudou, worried he couldn’t win a fight against her, immediately pulled something from his pocket.
Sure enough, Su Su froze.
"Is this..."
"The genuine article! A childhood photo of Big Bro when he was six! I swiped it from the apartment a while back! How many meals is this worth, huh?"
In the photo, Qin Xiaoxia was rolling his eyes, as if grumbling about something. His face was a bit chubby, and he was wearing a child’s jacket, looking utterly adorable.
’Priceless!’
Su Su’s mouth fell slightly agape, her eyes wide.
"Ahem... well, in that case... I suppose making you another meal wouldn’t be out of the question!"
To stop Doudou from trying to haggle for more, Su Su quickly changed the subject.
"But you have to go get fresh beef and peas. I don’t have any more in stock!"
"Leave it to me! Dandan, let’s go!"
The last word was barely out of his mouth before Doudou and Gou Dandan had vanished from the kitchen in a flash.
