The Natives of This World Are Fierce
Chapter 232 - 229: Lustful Ghost?
Chapter 232: Chapter 229: Lustful Ghost?
Gradually, the warm, fuzzy feeling throughout their bodies began to fade.
"Alright, everyone open your eyes. Stretch your arms and legs!"
As Chief Instructor Elder Mo’s voice rang out again, everyone opened their eyes, the tranquil expressions on their faces replaced by a surge of excitement.
It was easy to tell from the expressions of the students around them that the feeling they’d just experienced wasn’t unique to them alone.
Whether they were teenagers or adults, everyone couldn’t help but start discussing the feeling of the breathing exercise in low voices with those nearby.
"I really felt like I was absorbing the sunlight! It wasn’t like normal sunbathing!"
"I know! Me too!"
"That just now... could that have been an Inner Power Heart Method?"
The children discussed this excitedly, but they weren’t the only ones with such thoughts.
Not only could the sharp-eared Mo Shaoge and Mo Qingxue hear these discussions, but Elder Mo also heard every word clearly.
To be honest, the old man himself was in a state of shock. As someone who had practiced martial arts for decades, his perception of that feeling was far beyond that of an ordinary person.
He could even feel his own vitality slowly strengthening. For an old man who had practiced martial arts for decades and watched himself grow weaker day by day, this was nothing short of a thunderclap.
"Pssst... Grandpa, Grandpa, stop zoning out~~"
Mo Shaoge quietly approached Elder Mo, whispering a reminder to mind his composure, which snapped the old man back to his senses.
He glanced to the side. The students were still buzzing with excitement. Although some looked over while they were talking, their gazes were filled with awe. Plus, with his grandson and granddaughter shielding him, no one had noticed his lapse in composure.
’Thank goodness!’
If he, the Chief Instructor, lost face in front of the students, his aura as a grandmaster would be greatly diminished.
Seeing their grandfather regain his composure, Mo Shaoge and Mo Qingxue stepped aside.
The grandmaster returned.
"If you didn’t slack off during the Pile Skill, all of you should have tangibly felt the Sunrise Qi enter your bodies. This Pile Skill is called the Breathing Celestial Walking Posture."
"I trust it’s not hard for you all to understand now why our Celestial Traveler’s Hall requires you to gather here before sunrise, yes?"
Seeing that the people below could barely contain their excitement, the old man stroked his beard and smiled.
"Alright, Shaoge, take them downstairs. They still have much to learn."
...
Just a few minutes later, the training session downstairs was proceeding in an orderly fashion.
They began with warm-ups under the guidance of the assistant instructors, and the personal trainers among the students eagerly pitched in, as if to show off.
After that came flexibility and conditioning drills. It looked a bit like calisthenics, but wearing the training uniforms, everyone expended a great deal of energy.
By the time it was almost 7:00 a.m., everyone, adult and child alike, was thoroughly exhausted.
Miraculously, however, the special tea from the hall’s tea room, combined with the massage and relaxation techniques taught by the assistants, significantly eased their muscle fatigue.
Elder Mo sat comfortably in his grandmaster’s chair, sipping tea brewed with small, halved red berries, cheerfully watching them train.
At 7:00 a.m., the morning session came to an end.
However, since it was a holiday, they were free to go home. But the hall’s first course was billed by the day, and they were allowed to stay for the entire day. Going home early felt like a waste of money.
They were exhausted, but everyone gritted their teeth and chose to stay. Only one child who had made prior plans with their parents and a few adults with urgent business left reluctantly.
By the end of the day, 25 people had persevered through the evening session and completed the Pile Skill to absorb the sunset’s afterglow.
These 25 people were utterly drained; even walking was a struggle.
They dragged their weary bodies to the changing rooms, only feeling human again after taking off the training uniforms. A shower afterward made them feel much better.
...
The following month was both painful and joyful. But as time went on, fewer and fewer people missed sessions. Some kids even stopped playing video games after school. Even if they had other commitments or tutoring classes, they would pester their parents to take them to the Celestial Traveler’s Hall.
In short, they didn’t want to miss a single morning or evening session.
They had all discussed it amongst themselves: the Breathing Celestial Walking Posture was only effective at the Celestial Traveler’s Hall. Moreover, with the first course nearing its end, no one wanted to be weeded out and barred from the second.
After a little over two weeks, people began to notice significant increases in their stamina, endurance, and even strength. The progress of those with more outstanding results, like Ding Yi, was simply astounding.
For fun, he tried lifting weights and kept adding more and more. He eventually discovered he could lift a 200-kilogram barbell in the downstairs gym with strength to spare, which nearly scared him to death.
This made Ding Yi realize that the instructor truly had a keen eye. Otherwise, out of the hundred students now in the first course, why would he be the only one with special admission status?
Interestingly, no one had thought of it before, but after Ding Yi’s request to live in the hall’s dormitory was approved two weeks in, 25 of the remaining 30 rooms were claimed the very next day, leaving only five in reserve.
The children whose parents wouldn’t let them stay in the dorms were filled with resentment and envy for quite some time.
...
There aren’t many truly irredeemable people in modern society. Besides, these students had all passed the assessment for the first course, so there was no one who was psychologically twisted or beyond help.
So, the thirty-odd people who were first to reach the 30-day mark were all kept on by Mo Shaoge. It was time to build a foundation, after all, and these people had been developing steadily for a month. Unless there was a real issue, the Mo Family was reluctant to let any of them go.
Students from the first course who didn’t live at the hall were now allowed to take their training uniforms home. However, without the Mo siblings present, the uniforms were merely heavy garments; they couldn’t "photosynthesize."
It was early November, the height of crab season. Ding Yi and another boy, just 17 years old, were on the subway, heading to a well-regarded seafood market to buy hairy crabs for everyone.
The two of them turned a few heads. Over the past month, their dispositions had changed noticeably, and their builds had become much more robust. They weren’t what you’d call strikingly handsome, but they had a certain charisma and an appealing, durable quality to their looks.
"Brother Ding, look. You think that guy over there is a pickpocket or a subway perv?"
The boy’s name was Guo Wei. Feeling that he had become quite capable, he was eager to perform some heroic deed. However, the hall had a strict rule against showing off their skills outside, on pain of expulsion.
Besides, stumbling upon some injustice in real life took a good bit of luck.
Seeing a suspected subway perv now, Guo Wei was ecstatic.
Ding Yi followed Guo Wei’s gaze and saw him. A skinny-looking man stood with his back to them, pressing up against a girl by the subway car door. His posture was incredibly sleazy.
"Holy shit, are pervs these days this brazen?"
Ding Yi glanced around. The car wasn’t empty by any means. Had no one else noticed?
The girl’s expression was unnatural; she probably knew she was being harassed. ’Maybe she’s too scared to cry out?’ he wondered.
"Brother Ding, adults these days are so spineless. Let’s go teach that perv a lesson!"
Guo Wei’s hands were itching for a fight. He didn’t know exactly how strong he was now, but he was confident he could handle one or two regular adults. Besides, Brother Ding was with him—the only special admission student, whose aptitude the Chief Instructor himself had praised.
"Catching a perv doesn’t count as showing off, right?"
"Probably... not..."
Ding Yi’s hands were itching a bit too. The two exchanged a look, and with mischievous grins, they got up from their seats.
Though slightly excited, they kept their expressions serious and walked straight toward the car door.
The girl clearly saw them heading straight for her, but her expression was wary.
’Shit, what’s going on? Don’t tell me they’re a couple?’
Ding Yi saw her expression and felt something was wrong, but before he could say anything, Guo Wei had already acted.
He reached out, grabbing forcefully for the skinny figure’s shoulder.
"You damn perv! I’ll teach...!"
His hand met only slight resistance before passing right through the figure, leaving Guo Wei completely stunned.
An unnatural chill immediately spread up his arm as if to freeze his very hand, making him instinctively snatch it back.
The skinny man slowly turned around, revealing a pitch-black, twisted, and indistinct front. It had a vaguely human silhouette, but it didn’t look like a person at all!
"A GHOST!!!"
Guo Wei screamed in terror, leaping back nearly two meters and slamming into the car door behind him.
Ding Yi stood frozen, his mouth hanging open.
’Holy shit! It’s a literal Lustful Ghost!!’
