The Natives of This World Are Fierce
Chapter 226 - 223: Can Martial Arts Really Reach Such a Level?
Chapter 226: Chapter 223: Can Martial Arts Really Reach Such a Level?
Mo Shaoge and Mo Qingxue were quite talented, and Qin Xiaoxia had high hopes for them. Although he didn’t expect them to be as formidable as Baru, he did hope they could build a system that was no less impressive than the framework of the later-stage Silent Knight Order.
To this end, he had dropped many mysterious hints to the Mo siblings.
However, their system was destined to be different from that of the Silent Knight Order. The name of the former suggested a more militaristic structure, while the system the Mo siblings were to organize and build would be relatively more individualized.
The ancestral oath of the Sun Family, which had been broken in his great-grandparents’ generation, often made Sun Tian feel ashamed. He felt he had failed his deceased elders and the century-old oath, and he worried that people within the association might gossip about it.
Sun Tian’s support for the Mo Family Hall was nothing short of exhaustive. Not only did he hand over his outer-ring manor to the association to serve as the Kyoto Secret Realm, but he also personally oversaw many aspects like renovations and site selection, appointing only trustworthy, first-rate teams.
His private nickname was "Martial Monk," and it hadn’t changed in years. For someone of his status, if he disliked a nickname, his friends would have likely done him the courtesy of stopping. The fact that it stuck showed he still had a great fondness for Martial Arts.
As one of the heads of logistics for Dawn, Sun Tian went to the extreme to make a good impression within the association. He even took on some of the intelligence-gathering roles typically handled by the business world, regularly passing this information to the association’s intelligence system through multiple channels. For anything truly critical, he would even use a Sound Transmission Flower.
He had also been looking for a suitable opportunity for his own children, and even the more reliable and accomplished younger generation among his Sun Family blood relatives, to join Dawn and be trained, rather than just remaining under its protection.
Although Sun Tian understood that the association would certainly protect them if real danger arose, at the end of the day, who wouldn’t want the power to protect themselves and others?
The hall the Mo Family was preparing to open was the perfect opportunity. While the Silent Knight Order had been a consideration, he felt it wasn’t suitable for girls, especially young ones.
On the eve of the hall’s opening, he had already taken three children to Kyoto. Besides his thirteen-year-old daughter, there were two boys who were a year older: one was the son of his brother-in-law, Zhao Chen, and the other was the son of his younger cousin.
He used this time to first take the children sightseeing around the Capital.
...
As National Day approached, the streets and alleys throughout Kyoto were already starting to bustle with activity. It was a good time to choose for an opening.
Three days before the holiday, the fitness center on the first floor opened ahead of schedule.
Staff and hired university students went all over Kyoto handing out flyers. Most of the front and back was an advertisement for "Hongli Fitness," a new fitness brand recently registered under the Sun Clan.
But on the back, a small section, about one-third of the space, was dedicated to an advertisement for the "Celestial Traveler’s Hall" recruiting students.
On the 9th floor of an office building, two white-collar workers arrived for work, carrying breakfast. One of them was using a flyer to hold his breakfast bag to keep the grease off his hands.
There were still about ten minutes before work started, just enough time to eat.
"Is opening a gym so profitable these days? How come so many people are doing it? I see people handing out gym flyers all day long."
"Haha, yeah. It feels like there are gym flyers everywhere. It’s probably because people don’t get enough exercise these days. They call that seizing a business opportunity."
"Heh, but some gyms open up, don’t seem to make any money, and then just run off with the members’ fees."
"That’s just a few of them, right?"
As they chatted, they started looking at the flyer.
"Hongli Fitness... never heard of it. Wow, the pictures look great! Free showers and a heated pool!"
The other guy, with a meat bun in his mouth, looked at the bottom of the flyer.
"Holy shit! This cheap? A six-month membership for 500? With 10 free sessions with a trainer? This is Kyoto, for crying out loud!"
"They’re not using fake equipment, are they? Jade Garden... isn’t that in the complex next door?"
There were plenty of people in the office who neglected exercise, and a few of them grew interested after overhearing the discussion.
A skinny young man who had bought nearly ten steamed buns also came over to join the fun.
"Damn, Ding Yi, how can you eat so much and not gain any weight!"
"Brother Li, I want to get bigger, you know? They say working out is the best way to bulk up."
The group quickly noticed the advertisement for the martial arts hall on the back. But aside from the novelty and a passing desire to check it out, none of them were actually planning to sign up to practice martial arts.
The gym was being run with the help of a dedicated manager from the Sun Clan, so Mo Shaoge didn’t have to worry too much about it. Still, it was necessary for him to make an appearance on opening day, and he also took the opportunity to bring his grandfather over to get familiar with the place.
Both Mo Shaoge and Mo Qingxue had Qin Xiaoxia’s Magic Power catalyzing their bodies, and with a continuous supply of Magic Fruits from Mumu, their physical conditions were a world apart from what they used to be. The techniques they once knew could now unleash far greater power in their hands.
The "useless" aspect of some martial arts often lies in having exquisite techniques that lack sufficient power to back them up, making them appear soft and weak. Only those with exceptional talent could use them to fight an opponent. On the other hand, certain killing moves are considered insidious or vulgar by modern standards precisely because they target absolute weak points like the eyes, throat, and groin.
But the Mo siblings no longer had such concerns.
Those familiar with Qi Gong or Health Cultivation Techniques might know that people who genuinely practice them in the real world can indeed develop something called True Qi. It’s just that it’s nowhere near as magical as in martial arts novels, at most making one more energetic and slightly healthier.
But now, at critical moments, Master Sage’s Magic Power could even work in concert with their qi to make their techniques achieve even greater effects.
The level of miraculousness might even far exceed the concept of Inner Strength in martial arts novels.
Dressed in specially designed, traditional-style training clothes, the two siblings now possessed a unique aura. Coupled with Elder Mo’s even more distinguished appearance, they certainly turned a few heads on the street.
After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, no one had signed up for a membership yet. Leaving the management team downstairs, Mo Shaoge and Mo Qingxue accompanied their grandfather upstairs to check out the layout.
As soon as the old man got upstairs and saw the spacious, brightly lit training hall—filled with sandbags, wooden dummies, bronze statues, and more—he praised it repeatedly.
With the bathing facilities downstairs and the rest and medical areas upstairs, these conditions were worlds better than when he had learned martial arts.
By noon, people had begun to trickle in to inquire and look around, all of them office workers from nearby.
Some, seeing how well-equipped the facility was and how nice the showers and pool were, immediately signed up for the cost-effective six-month membership.
Ding Yi and two of his colleagues were among them.
After work that day, the group went to the gym together. For a brand-new facility, the number of people inside was quite impressive.
The three of them were surprisingly in sync; instead of calling for a trainer, they first stretched their joints on their own, planning to start with a run on the treadmills.
At that moment, upstairs, Elder Mo was conducting a final review of his grandson and granddaughter’s current Martial Arts skills to prevent any embarrassment later on.
However, the old man’s breathing was slightly ragged. He forced himself to remain composed in the master’s chair at the end of the hall, just barely managing not to lose his composure in front of his juniors.
Twenty meters in front of him, two agile figures brandished unsharpened long and short swords, moving like a pair of wandering dragons. Their steps and movements were accompanied by the faint whistling of the wind.
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!
Flashes of cold light flickered before his eyes as the blades clashed three times in an instant. The sound of them cutting through the air revealed their great power, while the sound of the impacts revealed their skillful control.
’Wandering Dragon Triple Wave!’
Although the old man wasn’t farsighted, his eyes could barely keep up with their speed. He could only recognize these key techniques.
In a few flickers, the two siblings would shift several meters, exchange positions, and trade a dozen blows with fists and feet.
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! CLINK! ...
While using their swords, the two siblings didn’t neglect their fists and feet. They weren’t bound by form, attacking however was most effective, though they avoided using any vicious killing moves.
Intentionally showing off for their grandfather, the two went all out, their combat speed astonishingly fast.
All aspects of their Capture Fist Palm Sword Technique were on display.
Mo Qingxue was, after all, a notch below her brother, and after a few minutes, she was gradually forced onto the defensive.
With a flick of her Short Sword, she used a powerful move to force her brother back. She had barely relaxed and hadn’t even had a chance to catch her breath when, in a flash, a knee carrying the pressure of displaced air rapidly grew larger in her vision.
BAM~
Mo Qingxue was sent flying seven or eight meters, only managing to get back on her feet after tumbling several times on the ground.
"Brother, you don’t know how to hold back! If I hadn’t blocked that with my elbow, my face would be swollen today! Grandpa, look at him!"
Elder Mo struggled to calm the shock in his heart and regulate his breathing.
’Are these his grandson and granddaughter? I’m afraid even if his own master were resurrected, he wouldn’t last ten moves against his granddaughter. Maybe not even three!’
’Can Martial Arts really reach this level?’
