Chapter 221: Chapter 218: A Body Full of Junk

Hama Pi had no great achievements to his name and was far from being a powerful Magic Controller. In fact, his control Ability was so poor that he could likely only be classified as a Magic Creature.

But he was an Akenis Merchant, after all. He had been steeped in the merchant guild’s knowledge, so his horizons were quite broad.

So when he recognized the state of Magic Power on the Red Demoness, his first thought was, ’It’s alive? It can’t be the Statue of Comir, can it? It’s flesh and blood! Has it undergone Demonization? I’ve never heard of such a thing...’

Then he suddenly realized that as an Image of Order, a vessel for the Power of Order of the Six Great, it was impossible for it to undergo Demonization or any kind of corruption. Nor could some special magical creature possess it.

’So, could the answer be... that the one before my very eyes is the true Comir?’

The shock was too great. Hama Pi’s self-preservation instincts kicked in, and he passed out.

Seeing him faint from fright, Qin Xiaoxia was actually a little more convinced of Hama Pi’s so-called status as a certified merchant. At least the guy knew his stuff.

Mumu and Doudou hadn’t fainted when they saw the Red Demoness before. Then again, that might be because they were too familiar with her and recognized her resurrection from the start, so the thought of Comir never even crossed their minds.

"What’s wrong with him?"

"CHIRP CHIRP."

Su Su asked the question, and Gou Dandan chirped in agreement from atop her head.

"Is Little Red really that scary?"

Gou Junbao figured he was probably the oldest one there, so to keep things casual and avoid awkwardness, he decided it was better to call the Red Demoness "Little Red" in informal situations.

"CHIRP CHIRP."

His old man had spoken, so Gou Dandan quickly chirped in to back him up.

Doudou’s gaze, however, wasn’t on the unconscious Hama Pi. It was fixed on Gou Dandan, who was on Su Su’s head.

"It’s only been a day. Has Dandan gotten a lot fatter already?"

Seeing the little bird shrink back onto Su Su’s head, Doudou let out a disdainful "Tch."

"Such a coward."

The Red Demoness herself didn’t find any of this strange, but it seemed that from now on, it would be best for her to use her Sea Siren talent to conceal herself whenever strangers were around.

The corner of Gou Junbao’s lip twitched. He had a feeling that Gou Dandan wasn’t afraid of Doudou’s gaze, but of what Doudou was currently doing.

Right then, there was a cage next to Doudou. He’d run to his workshop to grab it the moment he got back. Inside wasn’t a rabbit, but a turtle Gou Junbao didn’t recognize. From the looks of it, it wasn’t a gentle species like a Reeve’s turtle.

Doudou didn’t want to miss out on any of the novelties from Akenis, so he had specially brought his new pet outside to feed it while Hama Pi was out cold.

Then they watched as he picked up an insanely spicy heaven-facing chili and waved it enticingly.

The poor turtle’s head shot out like lightning, and it snatched the chili and swallowed it whole.

Afterward, the turtle seemed to have some kind of reaction. It thrashed around in its cage for a moment before retracting into its shell and refusing to come out.

So, Doudou grabbed it from the cage, stomped hard on the top of its shell, and tried to shove a handful of "Chili King" peppers into the turtle’s mouth.

The poor turtle tried to fight back, its head lashing out like lightning to bite Doudou. But while Doudou’s Magic Power might be weak, his reflexes were superb.

So the turtle ended up with a mouthful of peppers. Taking advantage of the split second its mouth was open, Doudou shoved a huge handful of chilies straight down its throat, too far for it to spit back out.

This was the scene Gou Dandan had witnessed just before.

And everyone else around saw it too.

Gou Junbao and Xiao Lili both shivered. The smell of the chilies alone was enough to make one sneeze; they couldn’t even imagine how spicy they must be.

Hopefully, the turtle didn’t have taste buds that could detect spiciness, otherwise it was in for a world of hurt. Tragically, judging by its reaction, it probably could...

Although, spiciness is technically a pain sensation.

"Doudou, why are you feeding a turtle chili peppers... Shouldn’t you be kind to your pets?"

Hearing Gou Junbao’s tactless question, Doudou didn’t even look up and continued tormenting the turtle.

"What do you know! This is called pre-seasoning, get it?"

"I read online that if you force-feed frogs wine, the meat will have a wine flavor and be more tender. I don’t like wine, but I like spicy food. I figure it’s the same principle!"

While he spoke, the turtle absolutely refused to fall for it again. No matter what he did, it wouldn’t open its mouth. After trying to pry it open a couple of times to no avail, Doudou seemed to give up. He put the turtle back in its cage and ran off.

Just as Gou Junbao was feeling relieved for the turtle, Doudou came back a moment later.

He was carrying a washbasin, filled with crushed chili peppers and water.

"Turtles have to drink water eventually!"

The turtle was once again dragged out of the rabbit cage and pushed toward the basin by merciless little hands.

It seemed Doudou planned to cook the poor turtle tonight.

During the day Doudou was gone, Su Su had already briefed Gou Junbao and Xiao Lili on his fearsome reputation several times. Now, they were finally witnessing it firsthand.

Doudou had even offered to take care of Gou Dandan before. The thought was terrifying in hindsight.

...

Hama Pi woke up only ten-odd minutes later, just as Qin Xiaoxia finished telling everyone the gist of what had happened in Russia and was thinking about how to rouse him.

Since he woke up on his own, it saved them the trouble.

But the first thing Hama Pi did after waking up was look around in a panic.

The Red Demoness had already concealed herself by this point, so in Hama Pi’s eyes, she was just a beautiful Magic Controller. He didn’t connect her to what he had seen moments ago.

’Was it a hallucination? Yes, it must have been a hallucination...’

"You’re awake?"

At the sound of Qin Xiaoxia’s voice, Hama Pi remembered the business at hand and took a look at his surroundings.

This was clearly inside a high-level Secret Realm, with fluctuations of Magic Power all around.

"Yes, great Magic Controller, thank you for saving me from the clutches of the human scientists. As repayment, I will fulfill my promise."

Hama Pi was tactful. He activated all the pockets on his body—a dozen or so that had been sealed tight now gaped open, and things started spilling out of them one by one.

Candy, dolls, unknown materials, unidentified powders, a large, folded object the size of a backpack, some miscellaneous toy-like trinkets, and an assortment of ropes, tools, and book-like objects.

Putting aside all this junk for a moment, Qin Xiaoxia’s eyes lit up when he saw Hama Pi pulling things out of the pockets on his clothes.

The largest of these pockets, at a generous estimate, was no bigger than a pack of pocket tissues, yet the volume of the items being pulled out of them defied all logic.

"Er, great Magic Controller, you can take any of the merchandise on my person that you like... As for the techniques I know, I’ll need some time to recall them!"

’Heh, is this guy afraid I’ll get rid of him once he’s served his purpose?’

Doudou had already run over to pick through the items, looking at everything with disdain. The dolls and toys caught his interest for a moment, but he was immediately disappointed when he found they just moved, played, and amused on their own.

They weren’t truly magical things at all. These crappy toys couldn’t even compare to the weird and wonderful variety of electronic toys from human factories.

The only exception was the folded backpack. With a flick of the wrist, it instantly unfurled into a large tent covering more than ten square meters.

This made Qin Xiaoxia, Gou Junbao, and the others’ eyes light up.

Doudou pouted.

"Hey Big Bro, this guy is full of junk. I’m starting to seriously doubt his merchant status. I say we stew him!"

Beads of nervous sweat started forming on Hama Pi again.

"Er, heheh, I left in a hurry, left in a hurry..."

Qin Xiaoxia sat on a rattan chair to the side, watching for a while before he finally spoke.

"The pockets on your clothes, how are they made?"

This question put Hama Pi on high alert.

"Great Magic Controller, that is a guild-monopolized technology! I don’t know it, and the guild would never allow this technology to be leaked!"

Qin Xiaoxia was no fool. Judging from the junk Hama Pi was carrying, he knew this guy didn’t have many real treasures.

Since a technology could be called a monopoly, that guild must guard it strictly. And since it hadn’t been stolen yet, it meant they were capable.

He was sure Hama Pi didn’t know the specifics, but his expression suggested he knew something.

He didn’t pursue the question, instead saying something seemingly unrelated.

"Hama Pi, you saw Comir just now, didn’t you?"

THUMP.

Hearing those words, Hama Pi’s heart seized up.
