Chapter 388 - Three Chemistry Questions Beyond The Scope Of The Syllabus
Chapter 388: Three Chemistry Questions Beyond The Scope Of The Syllabus
The students arrived at school one after another on Friday morning. This day was slightly different from other days.
The first-year and second-year students were in their respective classes, while the third-year students had no classes today.
This was because the exchange meeting between No.1 High School and Hang Yuan was scheduled for 2:00 p.m. that day. The life of third-year students was dull, for there was only an endless stream of homework awaiting them every single day. Now that the exchange meeting was around the corner, they finally could take a breather and start looking for information about their opponent.
“Hang Yuan? It’s an elite school in the capital. Their teachers are better than our teachers, and the proportion of their students that enter university is higher than ours. I heard that the Wu siblings that are leading the team this time also won third place in the international individual mathematics competition and chemistry competition and are even better than Lu Yubai and Zhou Zihuai.”
“What’s wrong with Lu Yubai and Zhou Zihuai? Have you forgotten that they were part of the team that won the international Physics competition? How can you make light of them?”
“That said, I heard that they’ve brought quite a lot of students with them this time, and each and every single one of them excels not only at their studies but also at sports and arts. We can compete with them academically, but when it comes to sports and arts…”
“By the way, doesn’t Lu Chuwan know how to play the piano? She has not come to school for so long. I wonder if the rumors are true. Is she in the reformatory now?”
“Who knows. Oh yeah, I also heard that Fu Zhi is not taking part in this exchange meeting.”
They did not know what to say about Fu Zhi. Well, it was clear that she loved her country, but she did not have the time to participate in every competition.
They’d heard that Lu Yubai and Zhou Zihuai were going to lead the team this time, but everybody was unsure whether Fu Zhi would participate or not.
“If Fu Zhi participates, then we will have a better chance of winning this.”
“It’s hard to say. After all, she has only shown her talents for Mathematics and Physics so far, and do you still remember the fight that happened in front of the gate of our school last time? Besides, she doesn’t seem like she knows much about art, and her language paper result was even worse than mine…”
There were a lot of people coming to the school in the morning, and the group of people could not reach a conclusion in the end.
At nine o’clock in the morning…
While the third-year students were speculating whether Fu Zhi would show up or not, a luxury car arrived in front of No.1 High School’s gate.
Four people—three boys and one girl—emerged from the car. All of them were wearing the uniform of Hang Yuan High School. After they said something to the guard, they marched into the school.
Perhaps they were from an elite school in the capital. After all, regardless of the uniform they wore or their gestures, they certainly emanated an arrogant vibe.
“They are the delegates of Hang Yuan? I thought there were 20 or more of them? Why are there only four people?”
“That girl is so adorable!”
“Are you sure about that? She’s holding a parasol although there’s no sun. I think there’s something wrong with her brain.”
“They are heading toward the sports arena. But why? It’s not even time for the competition yet.”
“Quick, let’s go inform Zhou Zihuai and Lu Yubai! They must be up to something!”
Initially, Hang Yuan High School had sent a team of 20 students to take part in the event. It was just that Wu Zhiheng and Fu Zhi were in a feud with each other and he did not think a school from a small city would be able to triumph over them. Thus, he had decided that there was no need to make a big fanfare and the four of them would be more than enough to take them on.
Zhou Zihuai and Lu Yubai did not go to the sports arena yet, but Wu Zhiheng and his team had already arrived.
He scanned the arena and realized that not only was this arena smaller than the school run by his family, but the school authorities of No.1 High School had not sent someone to clean up the arena beforehand. He could see some dust on the chairs in the deepest part of the arena.
Wu Zhiheng frowned disdainfully and put his leg on the back of a chair. He pulled out three Chemistry questions that Ouyang Ya had given him before they had come here.
A large group of students had gathered in the arena.
Very soon, Director Liu, Zhou Zihuai, and Lu Yubai arrived at the arena as well.
“Are you guys students from Hang Yuan?” Director Liu asked, his brows furrowed deeply. “I thought we had agreed to start the exchange meeting at 2:00 p.m.?”
Truth be told, anyone would’ve frowned if they saw a bunch of outsiders barge into their school and sit in an indecent manner, let alone a teacher.
“Two o’clock in the afternoon? Then we can cancel the exchange meeting. Our teacher is busy right now, so we might have to postpone the exchange meeting until this Saturday. But of course, it may or may not be held until next Monday,” Wu Zhiheng said with a smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
Then, before Director Liu could say anything, he walked up to the stage in the middle of the arena and added, “However, an exchange meeting is just a better name for a learning visit. Hang Yuan High School is one of the elite schools in the capital. In my opinion, we don’t need to learn anything from a third-rate school at all, so here is my suggestion. I have three Chemistry questions with me. As long as anyone from your team can answer them, we will continue the exchange meeting. However, if none of you is able to answer the questions… I see no point in continuing the exchange meeting.”
He took arrogance to the extreme. He had been in a bad mood since he had been beaten by Ye Jiu, so he directed all his anger at No.1 High School. He wanted to humiliate them and end the exchange meeting as soon as possible so that he could follow his father to Myanmar.
The students of No.1 High School were infuriated. “What do you mean we are a third-rate school? When did we become a third-rate school, huh? Do you think your private school is the best?” a student shouted. He wanted to curse Wu Zhiheng, but he could not do so since Director Liu was there.
Wu Zhiheng wrote down three Chemistry questions on the blackboard. Then, he picked up a microphone and said, “I will loosen the rules a bit. These three Chemistry questions were taken from Hang Yuan’s test paper. They are not the hardest type of questions, so as long as any of you can answer them, we will continue the exchange meeting.”
Director Liu turned to look at Lu Yubai and Zhou Zihuai.
Both of them had serious expressions on their faces.
“These three questions are beyond the scope of our syllabus,” Lu Yubai said. “Unless I’m mistaken, this should be some kind of drug composition study at the Institute of Medicine. There is a lot of terminology, and it’s impossible to do calculations if we’re not clear about the composition. Besides, there are some formulas that need to be used that I’m not very clear about.”
Director Liu pressed his lips and said, “Mr. Wu, these three Chemistry questions are not within the scope of the syllabus, so don’t you think it’s not very appropriate to use them here?”
