Chapter 182 - Departments
With the help of Council President Hannah and Princess Liya, the process of passing all the needed documents was done smoothly.
The only work left for him was to choose what class and department he wanted to join.
Yman noticed that the academy community was comparable to a booming modern academy of the magical city like that of Human City.
It even has more facilities than the HC Zone 7 academy. Probably because HC Zone 7 was a backwater academy. It didn't have the resources to backup all the needed facilities. It might also be the reason why they had to train outside using ordinary methods.
In the Encantasia Academy, it was more magical and was in the process of applying magic-based technology. Examples of it were the Artefacts -- also known as Magical Artefacts. They were using magic arrays to the different kinds of equipment and accessories and added an ancient technique which they can store: high-tier equipment, spirit beast, and even magic spells.
.In his hands, a pamphlet with a list of different kinds of departments could be seen.
Yman was currently reading on it while sitting on a circular brick bench in front of the academy's lobby. In the middle of the bench was a sakura tree with beautiful leaves falling now and then caused by the slight brush of the wind.
Even in such a surrounding where he was surrounded by good scenery and beautiful girls, his focus was unfaltered.
Sistela was currently in Hibernation mode as there's no need for them to waste her battery.
Well, he could always wake her up if a situation calls it.
Cinder beside him was also holding a pamphlet but she chose to peek on the pamphlet in Crimson's hands. Like him, she too did not belong in any departments. She was waiting for what department he would choose as she too would choose it. But she didn't let them notice her plan.
From time to time she would flip her pamphlet. But Rea noticed she wasn't focused on it.
Rea on the other hand was explaining to them the things they didn't understand.
"So, I can choose multiple departments?" Cinder asked.
"Of course, just avoid conflicting your schedule."
Rea replied.
"I see. Well, it's understandable," Crimson said.
"Department of Knight and Magic…" he read.
Cinder peek on it.
"As the name implied, it was a department in which students were taught how to fight with their preferred styles using magic and weapons of choice.....(blah blah blah…)" Rea followed with an explanation without waiting for him to ask a question. Her explanation was long and detailed that Yman was wondering if she was a walking encyclopedia.
"That department suits you Crimson," Cinder stated. She also wanted to join in it. As she needed to train her magic spells.
They saw him staring at it for a couple of seconds, seemingly thinking.
(FLIP!)
Without even saying a word when he proceeded.
"....." Cinder was curious what he thought about it. Perhaps, Crimson just wanted to check the other departments before choosing his preferred one.
After flipping a page, "oh there it is!" Crimson said.
"Did you already think of what department are you going to attend?" Cinder beside him asked him a question.
"He will be going to attend the Department of Alchemy," Rea was the one who answered her.
"A-Alchemy?! Crimson will...?" Cinder could not believe it. She expected he would be attending the Department of Knights and Magic. But maybe he would. However, these two departments had a time conflict so he could only choose one between the two.
Without joining at their conversation Crimson opened his mouth to question. "What is this Magic Enchanter Department?" Although there were some descriptions in it, they were not vivid enough for him to have a good understanding.
"In that department, students are taught to scribble magical essence to a weapon, armor, and accessories," Rea explained.
They noticed he made a thinking-gestures. "Like the elemental equipment?" He asked after a little ponder.
He saw Rea nodding her head.
Yman placed his finger below his chin as he replied, "hmm...!" (Pondering…)
"The Artefact-making team fall in that category and also the magic-array scribbler," Rea added.
They noticed he was staring at it with interest.
"Are you interested in it?" Cinder asked and checked the time. "Oh, they have different time sched…" she said. "Do you like carving magic arrays or sealing magic spells into… wait! Aren't your Fire Dolls works like that, Crimson?!" Cinder exclaimed when she remembered his awesome spell, the Fire Dolls. Those summons of him that were made in an out of ordinary procedure where he could implant some spells on them. In a sense, they work the same as making Artefact and enchanting the equipment.
"Hmm… you are right. But I can't decide about it for now," Although he said it, he could see many benefits from this department.
Yman continued flipping the book.
From the windows, Hannah and Princess Liya were spectating at the group.
"Look, Princess, Ella was wearing a know-it-all face," said Hannah, a little worried for the best friend. "She was even puffing her chest."
Princess Liya thought that President Hannah was like a worried older sister. "Hahaha, let her be, she must be happy to see one of her relatives in the same academy. Perhaps, they were so close since childhood," although Princesa Liya said it, she never once heard about this cousin from Rea. Even when they were young kids.
But in the mind of Hannah, 'no princess, you don't know the whole story! That guy is not even her real cousin. But Miss Ella was acting like a dotting cousin to him instead of a person he was supposed to protect!'
Hannah could only sigh.
Some passersby would occasionally take a glance or two at their group.
After closing the pamphlet. Yman finally decided which department he would be attending.
No need to think about his first choice. It was of course the Department of Alchemy.
The Department of Alchemy Headquarter was located in a separate building that could be seen at the back of the main building.
