Chapter 1289: Chapter 568: The Black Silken Wind Eventually Sweeps Into Another World_3
The two youths were surprisingly agile, working together with some semblance of strategy; one mainly attacked to attract attention, while the other seized the opportunity to ambush its flank.
Yet the leopard’s naturally thick hide and tough muscles made their efforts appear quite strenuous.
The burly youth in the primary attacking position had a large patch of his left sleeve corroded by acid mist, his skin red and blistered, clearly injured; the other, slightly leaner youth also had a mark on his face, a claw wound stretching from his forehead to his jaw, dripping with blood, and looking rather disheveled.
"Zhao Hu! Watch the tail!" the lean youth exclaimed in alarm.
The Green Scale Leopard used its steel tail.
Zhao Hu used dodge.
MISS.
——With dirt flying, Zhao Hu awkwardly rolled on the ground to dodge aside.
The lean youth seized the chance to thrust his sword towards the spirit beast’s relatively soft belly, causing injury once more, but was immediately swatted away by a paw, nearly losing grip of his sword.
The two were gasping for air, sweat visible on their foreheads; despite the tension and pain in their eyes, there was no sign of them backing down, evidently unwilling to relinquish the prey they had painstakingly sought.
After all, though their condition wasn’t good now, the prey’s condition was even worse.
Surely, they would grind this Green Scale Leopard down in the end, and paying a heavy price in wounds was deemed worthwhile.
Lin Li stood concealed behind a tree, silently gathering information, cracking open a box.
He needed an entry point to understand the current situation, and the two before him seemed quite suitable.
The demon cultivator seemed unlikely, and as for the strength displayed so far, he wouldn’t even need system items to deal with them effortlessly.
While he pondered, the Green Scale Leopard, thoroughly enraged by the lean youth’s harassment, abandoned Zhao Hu, opened its maw with a furious roar, and rapidly gathered even denser green acid mist, ready to unleash it upon the lean youth.
If the acid were to hit squarely, the youth would most likely be disfigured.
Zhao Hu’s eyes widened in desperation: "Li Si! Dodge quickly!"
The remaining one was actually called Li Si, and both names sounded very NPC-like; seemed they wouldn’t be able to play the lead role in this lifetime.
Lean youth Li Si’s face turned pale, seemingly too late to completely evade.
Though he couldn’t tell if the opponent had another trick, it didn’t matter, the timing was perfect.
Lin Li extended a hand, activating the "Qingzheng Thunder Control Technique," the true essence of Thunder Skill silently leaping and shaping at his fingertips.
The next moment——
"Zila!"
A lightning arc shot out abruptly from Lin Li’s fingertips! With precise accuracy, it traversed tens of meters to hit the Green Scale Leopard’s throat, just as it gathered acid mist preparing to spray.
"Ao——"
The Green Scale Leopard’s whole body stiffened, the gathered acid mist collapsing instantly.
The lightning precisely disrupted muscle controls and demon force nodes in its throat.
It let out a short, bizarre wail, its huge and fierce body writhing violently as if its spine had been removed, the ferocity in its eyes quickly dimming down, then it collapsed heavily to the ground with a thud, stirring dust, its limbs only twitching subtly without conscious movement.
Lin Li hadn’t used full force.
He wasn’t sure if the two needed the leopard alive or dead, so his goal was merely to paralyze it.
While at the center of the clearing, Zhao Hu and Li Si, prepared for desperate struggle or awkward evasion, were stunned.
They stood in place, hesitantly eyeing their prey rather than inspecting it, instead vigilantly scanning their surroundings, especially the direction where the suspected lightning had come from.
With swords held across their chests, hearts pounding wildly, their gaze bouncing anxiously among the forest shadows around them.
Back-to-back, Zhao Hu and Li Si tense in the now silent grove, their swords quivering slightly in their hands.
"What expert is here? Please show yourself!" Zhao Hu called out loudly, with bravado mixed with an imperceptible shiver, directed towards Lin Li’s hiding spot.
"Thank you, senior, for your help! May we offer our gratitude?" Li Si’s voice came more respectful, wiping blood from his face, his gaze eagerly searching the forest.
Seeing their open invitation and respectful demeanor, Lin Li knew this was a perfect chance to establish initial contact.
No longer hiding, he floated out from behind a tree, landing several steps away from them in the open space.
His garments gently swayed with the self-created wind, in harmony with his composed demeanor, indeed exuding an air of a wandering master.
Their eyes immediately locked onto Lin Li.
Upon seeing Lin Li’s young, handsome face, a hint of surprise flickered in their eyes, quickly overshadowed by the distinctly uncommon aura Lin Li carried.
The magic he had just used proved if they underestimated him for his youth, it would spell disaster.
"Junior Zhao Hu (Li Si), greets senior!"
Thus, they simultaneously bowed, directly addressing themselves as juniors, lowering their stance significantly.
"No need for formalities of addressing me as senior." Lin Li waved his hand with a smile.
"Then... what should we call senior..." they immediately asked.
"I could be regarded as a hero freely roaming between heaven and earth,"
Lin Li restrained the urge to manifest something, hands behind his back, head uplifted with a light smile, saying:
"People call me—the Black Silk Hero."
