The Most Powerful Bodyguard
Chapter 1519: Since That’s the Case, Cripple Him
Chapter 1519: Chapter 1519: Since That’s the Case, Cripple Him
"Who says it isn’t!"
Another man didn’t even have time to lower his raised cup. Eyes hazy, he chimed in, "For people as noble as us to come to this spiritually barren planet is bullshit. Who doesn’t know this place used to be our slaughterhouse!"
"Hahaha! That’s right, that’s right. At best this is just a practice ground, a total waste of everyone’s time."
The crowd echoed him; that word "slaughterhouse" obviously stroked their vanity.
"Come, come, drink, drink."
One of them downed a cup of wine and was about to keep talking.
But just as he opened his mouth, a streak of red light flashed before his eyes, and in the instant before he died, he saw his own blood spraying into the air.
Everyone was startled and instantly roused all the spiritual power in their bodies.
Unfortunately, defense of that level happened to be utterly useless.
Shadows flickered in front of them, blood sprayed, flesh flew.
Saber light, torn flesh, spurting blood, screams...
All of it together formed a bizarre tableau in that not‑so‑large tavern.
Facing this kind of scene, the drunken old man’s head never once lifted from start to finish; instead, he started snoring contentedly.
"Who is it, who the hell is it?!"
The last man left alive was terrified out of his mind, shouting in all directions.
He’d come to Earth accompanying his master on a mission, only to end up in such a state.
A saber was pressed against his neck, and at the same time a cold, grim voice rang out.
"Remember this: the one killing you is just an ordinary human cultivator." Yang Yan exerted a bit of force, and that last man went down as well.
He tossed the Bloodthirsty Mad Saber in his hand, and it dropped on its own into the Void.
Yang Yan went back to his seat and upended a jar of wine into his mouth.
These people deserved to die.
He didn’t know exactly who they were, but anyone who dares insult the human race like that—death is too light a punishment.
Just as Yang Yan was drinking, a figure slowly descended beside him.
The man’s full head of red hair was particularly eye‑catching, and he was dressed the same as those Yang Yan had just killed.
"You killed them?"
Seeing this elder appear, the drunken old man finally opened his eyes and glanced at him.
But after one look at the red‑haired elder, the old man shut his eyes again and sank back into sleep, as if nothing at all were happening.
Yang Yan didn’t respond either; he took another mouthful of wine, then heavily slammed the wine jar down on the table and spoke toward the old man who’d lain back down:
"Boss, more wine."
His bearing was free and unrestrained, pure roaming‑swordsman spirit on full display.
The elder also waved his hand; with the wind stirring the wine, another jar appeared in front of Yang Yan.
Seeing this scene, the red‑haired elder’s expression sank.
He forced his anger down and said coldly, "What’s the meaning of this, sir?"
Yang Yan slapped both hands on the jar, gave a chilly little laugh, lifted it and drank, clearly having no intention of answering.
He just flat‑out ignored the red‑haired elder.
Seeing Yang Yan’s attitude, the red‑haired elder was so furious he laughed. "Good, good, good! I, Ma Yuan, have roamed the world for so many years, and no one has ever ignored me like this. You’re the first!"
Yang Yan sneered. "Definitely not the first."
As he spoke, he deliberately or unintentionally glanced at the snoring old man off to the side.
The red‑haired elder’s cheek clearly twitched. He spoke each word with deliberate emphasis: "I’ll say this one last time!"
Yang Yan looked at him with contempt, his expression as if to say, Go on, old man, I’m listening.
Though there was no wind, the elder’s full head of red hair whipped through the air as he ground his teeth and said, "I’ll ask you once more: was it you who killed them? If not, don’t blame me for slaughtering the innocent!"
Yang Yan’s aura tightened. Eyes half‑squinted, he watched the elder who’d long since gone violent.
He realized the elder before him was actually at the Saint Realm.
Though the Void Realm and Saint Realm are only one rank apart, the higher you go, the greater the gap in actual strength.
Even two peak Void Realm experts might not be able to beat a Saint Realm existence.
But Yang Yan is hardly someone without pride in his bones. His eyelids drooped as he said, "No idea. Didn’t see anyone. I did casually butcher a few loudly barking dogs, though."
Ma Yuan let out a roar, his eyes bloodshot from rage and grief as he glared at Yang Yan and said, "So it really was you. Today I’ll use you as a blood sacrifice for my disciples."
"A crippled cur dares to yap wildly here." Cold light flashed in Yang Yan’s eyes; with a thought, the Bloodthirsty Mad Saber tore out of the Shattering Void and landed in his grip.
At the same time his spiritual power surged, ready for battle.
Boom—
The red‑haired elder struck. His palm pressed downward against the Void, the great Dao’s Laws appearing; divine radiance blossomed, his aura terrifying.
The next instant, an immense pressure coalesced into a torrent, sweeping down toward Yang Yan like a sky‑covering flood.
"Brat, sharp tongue and fangs—go to hell and do some proper self‑reflection!" Killing intent flashed in the elder’s eyes as he bellowed.
His five fingers, packed with power, were like a towering mountain, trying to directly pin Yang Yan beneath them, never to reincarnate.
Yang Yan snorted coldly, stepping forward. Each step was filled with subtle mystery, harmonizing with the Dao of space.
In an instant, he slipped out of the elder’s attack range.
However, Yang Yan quickly discovered that no matter where he fled, the pressure remained.
That hand of the opponent’s was like the Buddha’s Five Finger Mountain, firmly gripping the entire space in his palm, leaving no way to escape.
"Can’t get away?" Yang Yan muttered. A chill glinted in his eyes as he said, "In that case, I’ll cripple it. Heaven‑Breaking Finger!"
Brilliant light burst from every inch of Yang Yan’s body, finally condensing on his fingertip.
He thrust out with a single finger; the light soared against the heavens, slamming brutally into that massive pressure from the elder.
Rumble—
A heaven‑shaking explosion sounded; the tremendous clash of energies shattered the surrounding mountains.
Whoosh whoosh whoosh—
Swish swish swish—
Shattered stone flew wildly through the sky, chaotic power currents surging everywhere.
Amazing to say, amid this immense impact, the old man’s tavern hadn’t suffered the slightest damage.
Even the table set outside and bearing the brunt of the blast was as steady as a boulder, not budging an inch...
Yang Yan didn’t linger. He knew this enemy was no simple figure; he had to strike first and strike hard.
"Kill!"
Yang Yan roared. Bloodthirsty Mad Saber in hand, he charged with unstoppable momentum, hacking viciously forward.
The Bloodthirsty Mad Saber turned into a streak of blood‑red light, shattering space as it swept out.
The blade gleamed coldly under the sun, its point aimed straight at Ma Yuan.
And the instant he struck, several black vines sprouted from the Bloodthirsty Mad Saber, and with a whoosh they plunged into Yang Yan’s saber‑wielding arm.
Boom—
A sky‑piercing killing intent erupted madly from Yang Yan’s body.
Now he was wreathed in murderous aura, like some bloodthirsty giant beast awakening from primordial chaos, intent on destroying heaven and earth.
Ma Yuan looked at the saber in Yang Yan’s hand and sneered. "This blade is interesting enough, but in your hands it’s a complete waste."
"Once you’re dead, this old man will take good care of it for you, and truly draw out its real power, so that a peerless gem doesn’t stay buried in the dust."
