However, as it turned out…

Your “daddy” will always be your “daddy.”

Seeing Howard just standing there, lost in his own emotions, his mother kicked him and hissed, “Aren’t you going to thank Mr. Blake for his kindness?”

“Oh! Oh!”

Jolted from his reverie, Howard said excitedly, “Thank you for your kindness, Mr. Blake!”

Sean said, amused, “Have a seat.”

“Let’s just keep acting the way we did before.”

“Yes, Mr. Blake!” Howard replied respectfully.

Sean: “…”

‘Well, it looks like joking around like friends is out of the question now.’

‘But that’s alright. There’s still plenty of time. There will be many more opportunities to interact with the Grev Family in the future. Time will prove that he’s actually a very approachable person.’

At the side, Elvire saw that even her sister, a Grand Duchess of the Empire, had been reduced to a mere accessory. She said sourly, “As expected of Mr. Blake. So very impressive.”

Sean: “…”

“Eli!” Daeli shot her sister a glare.

“Hmph.” Elvire turned her head away like a petulant young bride refusing to be disciplined.

“Alright, alright, let’s keep eating,” Sean said, playing the peacemaker. He, of course, wasn’t going to get upset with his younger sister-in-law. From any angle, he genuinely hoped the family could get along harmoniously.

The banquet continued.

However, dining with Mr. Carl Black made everyone at least a little restrained.

This just went to show how much weight the name carried. The Mockray family hadn’t been this nervous even when facing Daeli. After all, this was a living legend whose stories could fill a book—a living one at that. It was like dining with a walking fossil. Part of the tension also stemmed from his “resurrection” after several hundred years.

But they were a Viscount Family, after all. After a while, the Mockrays managed to adapt to Sean’s “new” identity and carry themselves with a fair degree of composure.

The banquet ultimately concluded with Howard getting completely drunk.

He was so excited that he drank until he passed out, still giggling foolishly in his drunken stupor.

“Hehe, I’m friends with Mr. Blake…”

Sean: “…”

‘If you keep this up, we’re not going to be friends anymore.’

“Someone!” Viscount Mockray, his face also flushed from the alcohol, called for a maid. “Carry this boy away.”

“Yes, my lord.”

Although he’d said “carry,” the maid actually lifted Howard into her arms and walked out.

Sean shook his head with a smile and said, “Well, we should be heading back to rest as well. Thank you for your hospitality tonight, Viscount Mockray.”

The dizzy Viscount spun in a circle before removing an imaginary hat from his head and bowing like a gentleman. “The honor was all mine, Mr. Blake.”

Beside him, Lady Mockray put a hand to her forehead.

‘Tipping one’s hat is a gesture for ladies. This father and son… neither one of them can be relied on.’

Sean didn’t pay it much mind. He wished the lady a good night, then took his leave, preparing to go back and coax his wife.

The atmosphere in the latter half of the banquet had been quite harmonious—relatively speaking. Daeli didn’t drink, so Sean drank in her stead. After a few rounds, he had drunk a fair amount. He wasn’t drunk, but he had completely forgotten about the matter of the Cognitive Magic on his face.

That is, until Elvire took Elise’s arm to leave, tossing a sentence over her shoulder.

“Sister, Elise and I are heading back now.”

“Oh, right. Tell the family they can stop investigating Sean.”

Elise had come with Sean, so even if they split up, she was expected to know where he was and what he was doing.

By this point, Elvire’s mood had improved considerably. First, because she had seen her brother-in-law. Although she didn’t like this brother-in-law, her sister did, so she was happy for her sister. Second, because Sean wasn’t with Elise, which suggested she might have misunderstood them. Perhaps they had come to the New World on legitimate business.

It seemed like good news.

The “misunderstanding” was cleared up.

But Sean’s heart suddenly skipped a beat.

‘Wait!’

‘What did Elvire just say?’

‘”They can stop investigating Sean”?’

‘Sean, Sean…’

‘Did Elvire already tell Daeli her boyfriend’s name is Sean??’

‘Does that mean… Daeli has known my name in this life, and she’s known about my relationship with Elvire, from the very beginning??’

He clearly remembered that when he and Elise had first arrived at the banquet, Howard had introduced them by name.

‘And thinking back on Daeli’s tone when she mentioned her sister’s ‘unfaithful’ boyfriend…’

Sean’s eyes gradually widened, and he whipped his head around.

The gentle smile on Daeli’s face was gone, replaced by a completely different expression. Her beautiful eyes were deeper than the night, her voice colder than the wind.

“Let’s go. We can have a long chat when we get back.”

“My dear brother-in-law, Mr. Sean.”

Sean: “???”

‘Help!’
