The Most Arbitrary Wizard
Chapter 401 189: "The Mole
As the greatest academy of the Era of Polymath, the Hall of Truth naturally offered every kind of course.
Each course corresponded to at least one path of Magic. For instance, mathematics corresponded to truth, dance to physique, watercolor to scrolls, and music to minstrel arts.
The Paper Pianist, Chervana, was the Minstrel Magic instructor at the Holy Sanctuary.
She could play all sorts of beautiful notes using just an ordinary sheet of white paper. To many new students at the Holy Sanctuary, this was an incredible feat. Coupled with her beauty and gentle way of speaking, she was extremely popular with the students. Whenever she offered a class, it was almost always full.
Students with the Talent came to study Minstrel Magic and feel the Magic Power within the notes.
Those without the Talent for it came to "cultivate their sensibilities" and enjoy the music.
Sopea recalled that for several years running, Chervana had been voted by the students as the most popular Magic instructor of the year.
This honor came with a medal personally awarded by the "headmaster," Mr. Blake, so Sopea wasn't surprised at all that Sean remembered her.
But that wasn't what Sean was talking about.
To be honest, his memory of Chervana was hazy. He had only vaguely recalled a few things after Sopea brought her up.
But that wasn't the point. The point was, even though he couldn't recall the details about Chervana at the moment, he remembered the title "Paper Pianist."
Because he had heard it in False Heaven.
Not only had he heard it, but he had also exchanged a few polite words with the person.
At the time, this Paper Pianist had been sitting with him among the judges at the Table of Truth.
"Are you sure you weren't mistaken?" Sean asked Sopea.
Sopea nodded. "I'm sure."
"That's right, it's her." Koni emerged from the dreamscape just then. She gazed at the still-sleeping Dorunla with a hint of admiration and sighed. "No wonder her piano skills are so incredible. So she was Teacher Chervana…"
Sean, however, frowned. "If she's the Paper Pianist, then who was the person I met in the New World?"
Sopea was taken aback. "There's a Paper Pianist in the New World, too?"
Sean added, "And he's a man, about fifty years old."
"Could someone else have the same title?" Koni asked.
Sean shook his head. "Do you know what the man's name was?"
"What?"
"Cheerva."
A name nearly identical to "Chervana."
'Don't tell me this is a coincidence.'
"This is bad!"
Sopea's eyes widened in realization. "Someone's impersonating the Paper Pianist and has infiltrated False Heaven?!" he exclaimed.
'Seal away the real Paper Pianist, but don't kill her. Keep her from remembering who she is and deny her the chance to be reborn. That way, for at least several decades—until this incarnation of Dorunla dies and is reincarnated—no one can expose the impostor's identity!'
"Mr. Sean, we have to inform the Saintess about this immediately," Sopea said urgently.
Although he had never been to False Heaven, he had a general understanding of it from Sean's previous descriptions. False Heaven was the Holy Sanctuary's main base of operations in the New World. But now, a mole had appeared in their main base, deceiving everyone. If they didn't take precautions soon, the consequences would be disastrous!
Koni also realized the gravity of the situation. "Mr. Sean, why don't you go now? The teacher and I will stand guard for you."
'Sean wanted to.'
'But he couldn't.'
'The cooldown still had a few days left.'
"You two continue. I'm going to find Eleanor," Sean said.
'Dorunla is from the Holy Sanctuary, so there's no need to erase her memories. In fact, it's the opposite. They should consider whether to remove her seal, or perhaps delve into her memories again to see if they can find more clues about how she was sealed.'
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK.
Sean knocked on Eleanor's door.
"Who is it?" Eleanor asked.
Sean: "It's me."
"Master?"
Eleanor froze for a moment.
'It's so late. Why is Master here to see me?'
'For some reason, she recalled the joke Sean and Elise had made during the day about having free time at night to... discuss various positions.'
Eleanor's cheeks flushed red. "One moment, Master," she whispered.
She closed her magazine, got out of bed, slipped on her shoes, and went to open the door for Sean.
"Master, please come in."
Sean immediately saw that something was off with Eleanor's expression. He instinctively reached out and touched the young woman's forehead. "What's wrong? Are you not feeling well?"
"N-No." Eleanor felt the searing heat from the large hand on her forehead, and her face grew even redder. Her heart pounded in her chest. She turned her head away slightly and asked, "Did you need me for something, Master?"
Sean nodded. "Yes, there is."
Eleanor: "..."
'So there really is something?'
She felt a pang of disappointment.
Sean pulled his hand back. "I need you to go to the New World," he said. "Tell the Saintess that there might be a problem with the Paper Pianist."
Eleanor: "Huh?"
'The Paper Pianist... Cheerva?'
Sean quickly explained the situation to her.
Understanding the urgency of the situation, Eleanor immediately activated the Fallen Nether Technique under Sean's watch and went to the New World.
Since Eleanor had "logged off" by herself last time, she "logged back on" in the same place as before. It was very close to Hesinra Palace, and she quickly found a Divine Servant to announce her arrival.
This time, however, she wasn't as fortunate.
Diana was not in the palace.
"Perhaps Miss Eleanor could come back another day?" the Divine Servant suggested.
Her Highness the Saintess had just left the palace and wouldn't be back so soon.
"It's alright, I'll wait for Her Highness here," Eleanor said. She figured Her Highness the Saintess must have gone to deal with matters concerning the Kovloki and Wolf Families.
"Very well." The Divine Servant led Eleanor to a guest hall and said with a smile, "Please make yourself comfortable, Miss Eleanor."
「It was still daytime in the New World.」
