The More I Invest in My Wives, the Stronger I Become
Chapter 105: Roxanna’s Desperate Sacrifice
For a moment, Roxanna stood frozen.
She stared at the horrifying scene before her, unable to believe what she was witnessing.
Daemon’s eye beam had pierced straight through Kaine’s body and continued through the Winston Tower, tearing through the massive building under him.
The destructive beam had carved a devastating path through the structure, leaving a gaping trail of destruction in its wake.
The entire building trembled violently.
RUMBLE! RUMBLE!
Cracks spread across the walls, and pieces of concrete fell from the ceiling. The floor beneath Roxanna’s feet shook as if the entire tower were about to collapse at any moment.
Yet Daemon showed no sign of stopping.
He continued hovering in the air, his expression terrifyingly cold.
Roxanna’s heart tightened.
She knew that if the tower collapsed while they were still at the top, they would plunge down with the falling debris, leaving them with almost no chance of survival.
Behind her, Garrick struggled to stand.
Although he was still suffering from his injuries, he gritted his teeth and forced himself upright. His body trembled with pain, but he couldn’t afford to remain on the ground.
A moment later, his body began to transform.
His muscles expanded, his hands became powerful claws, and thick fur spread across his body as he shifted into his werewolf form.
Despite his injuries, Garrick forced himself to move toward Roxanna.
When he reached her, he grabbed her attention.
“Roxanna! We have to evacuate this place now!”
She didn’t move.
Her eyes remained fixed on Daemon, who was still hovering amid the destruction.
“I can’t…”
Garrick stared at her in disbelief.
“What do you mean you can’t?!”
Roxanna clenched her fists.
“He’s the man I love,” she whispered, her voice trembling. “I don’t know what has happened to him, but I can’t just leave him like this.”
Her eyes filled with desperation as she watched Daemon.
“I want to bring him back to his senses. If nobody stops him, he’ll destroy everything around him.”
She swallowed hard.
“I know he wouldn’t want any of this once he regains consciousness. He would never forgive himself for what he’s done.”
Garrick was stunned by her words.
Garrick was stunned by Roxanna’s words. The man hovering in the air was a complete stranger to him, his entire face engulfed in flames, and neither of them even knew his name.
Yet Roxanna had somehow recognized him as the man she loved, and despite the terrifying destruction unfolding around them, she still wanted to save him.
She was afraid of what he might become if he never returned to his senses.
But Garrick couldn’t agree with her decision.
“Listen to me!” he shouted. “We can’t fight him in this condition! Look at what he’s done to this building!”
Another violent tremor shook the tower.
A section of the ceiling collapsed nearby, sending debris crashing to the floor.
Garrick grabbed Roxanna’s arm.
“We have to get out before this entire place comes crashing down! If we stay here, we won’t be able to save anyone!”
Roxanna looked at him, torn between her desire to save Daemon and the terrifying reality surrounding them.
She wanted to reach him.
She wanted to call his name and make him recognize her.
But how could she approach someone whose power had become so destructive?
Before she could answer, another deafening rumble echoed through the building.
The situation was becoming worse by the second.
Outside the Winston Tower, chaos had already spread through the surrounding streets.
Police officers and WHA hunters had gathered near the building, trying to understand the horrifying situation unfolding before them.
Among them were Cole and Julien.
Both had witnessed Daemon’s eye beam pierce through the tower, and neither could hide their shock.
The destructive attack had caused extensive damage to the building. Cracks spread across its exterior, while dust and fragments of concrete rained down from above.
Cole immediately looked toward the surrounding streets.
“Everyone, listen carefully!” he shouted. “Get the civilians away from this area immediately!”
Julien turned toward the police officers and nearby hunters.
“Clear the entire perimeter! Don’t let anyone remain near the tower!”
The officers and hunters immediately began coordinating the evacuation.
“This building could collapse at any moment!” Cole warned. “Get everyone to safety!”
People who had gathered nearby finally understood the danger they were facing.
Panic spread through the streets.
Men and women abandoned their cars and belongings, running as far away from the tower as possible. Some stumbled while trying to escape, while others shouted at their companions to hurry.
Police officers directed the crowds toward safer areas.
WHA hunters helped those who couldn’t move quickly enough, ensuring that nobody remained near the threatened building.
Engines roared as a few vehicles sped away. Bags, personal belongings, and other items were left scattered across the pavement.
Nobody cared about their possessions anymore.
Their only concern was escaping alive.
Above them, Daemon continued hovering in the air.
His expression remained disturbingly empty as he looked at the destruction surrounding him.
Kaine was already dead.
The others who had fallen before Daemon were no longer moving either.
For a brief moment, Daemon looked over the scene.
Then the corners of his mouth lifted slightly.
A faint smile appeared on his face.
It was a small movement, but there was something deeply unsettling about it.
He looked almost satisfied.
Then his gaze shifted.
He noticed Garrick and Roxanna attempting to escape the collapsing tower.
His eyes narrowed.
Without warning, another destructive beam began gathering in his eyes.
The energy intensified, and a moment later, the beam shot toward them.
Roxanna saw it coming.
“GARRICK, MOVE!”
She reacted instantly, pushing him away from its path.
Garrick stumbled aside as Roxanna turned toward the incoming attack.
She raised her shaft, gripping it tightly with both hands.
Green energy surged around the tip of her weapon.
Whoosh!
The power of the Life Weaver gathered rapidly, spreading outward until it formed a protective barrier in front of her.
Roxanna gritted her teeth.
“Daemon!”
The beam struck the green barrier.
BOOOOM!
The impact sent a tremendous shock wave through the building.
For a brief moment, Roxanna’s protective energy held against the attack.
But the destructive force was simply too overwhelming.
Cracks spread across the barrier.
Her eyes widened.
“No…”
The beam pierced straight through the green defense.
The impact shattered the barrier, and the destructive energy continued forward, striking the tip of Roxanna’s shaft.
CRACK!
Her weapon broke apart.
The shaft disintegrated into ashes, its remaining green energy scattering into the air.
Roxanna barely had time to react before the beam reached her.
It struck her left arm.
SHAAK!
Her left hand was severed from her body.
“AAAAAAAH!”
Roxanna screamed in agony.
Pain exploded through her nerves as she staggered backward, blood pouring from the terrible wound.
But the beam didn’t stop.
It continued through the tower, tearing apart the already damaged structure.
The Winston Tower had suffered too much destruction to withstand another attack of such magnitude.
The foundations and supporting structures gave way.
KRRRRRRRRAAAAAACK!
The building began to collapse.
Its massive structure broke apart into four enormous sections, each part crumbling as the tower came down.
Concrete shattered.
Steel twisted.
Clouds of dust swallowed the surrounding area as the enormous sections of the building crashed toward the ground.
The sound was deafening.
And then—
Daemon heard something.
A scream.
A familiar voice.
Roxanna’s voice.
Her cry of agony pierced through the darkness clouding his mind.
For the first time in what felt like an eternity, something inside him reacted.
His faint smile disappeared.
His eyes widened.
“…Roxanna?”
The name escaped his lips like a broken whisper.
Suddenly, he clutched his head with both hands.
“AAARGH!”
Pain surged through his mind.
Memories, emotions, and fragments of consciousness rushed back into him as he struggled against whatever force had taken control of his body.
“What… what have I done?!”
Daemon’s voice trembled.
He looked around wildly, trying to understand the destruction surrounding him.
But it was too late.
The Winston Tower was collapsing.
The final thing he saw through the swirling dust was a hand reaching desperately toward him.
And the last thing he heard—
Was Roxanna screaming his name.
“DAEMON!”
