The Martial Unity
Chapter 4660 Domestic Violence
When Amare was done, Ria was half dead.
"You went too far." Rui glared at his wife, rushing to a bloody Ria who was flat on the ground. Her skin was covered in wounds, cuts, and bruises. Her stamina was completely drained.
Amare simply huffed, giving him a pointed look that said, ’look who’s talking.’ He averted her gaze, focusing on his daughter. The recent incident with future Amare forever deprived him of the right to criticize anybody for going too far. He held the record for going too far in a future that had since been undone. Still, he didn’t like seeing his precious baby girl in such a bad state.
Rather than feeding her a healing potion, he simply activated his Gene Realm, creating an airborne healing plague by editing his genes, having her inhale them and enter her body through the respiratory system.
The cells got to work, fixing her daughter at a truly astounding speed.
Within seconds, every wound on her body was completely healed; he even reset her brain to ensure that she wouldn’t have to deal with the price of the Realms.
"Ugh..." she groaned as she opened her eyes, staring at her mother with a terrified expression. "..."
Suddenly, a part of her wished her mom hadn’t gotten out of the manifold so soon. Her love for her mom had made her forget some of her... strict affection.
"What was that?" Her mother demanded in a strict tone, reading her mind.
"N-Nothing..." Ria averted her gaze.
"Hmph."
"Now now, go easy on her," Rui pulled his daughter into a protective hug. "She’s just a young girl. How can anybody achieve true mastery of a technique when they’re eighteen years old? Especially when they’re a generalist like she is. You’re being way too harsh on her. She deserves to be praised."
Ria appreciated her overprotective father’s perspective more. Indeed, she was willing to bear his embarrassing affection if it meant a reliable defender against her strict mother. But alas, Amare was not as soft on her daughter.
"I am harsh on her, and I am holding her to higher standards precisely because she is an unparalleled genius," Amare declared, folding her arms. "Perhaps you should have put more thought into it before you decided to give our daughter otherworldly talent."
"Our precious baby angel deserves otherworldly talent," Rui protested. "In fact, I regret that I wasn’t able to give her even more talent. If I had been a Martial Transcendent back then, I would have used Legislation to give her impossible talent! Talent that defies the laws of reality! Our daughter would have been born a goddess among mortals!"
"That’s far too much!" Amare shot back. "Too much talent is a curse. You know this as well as I do. If you had done that, our daughter would not be able to live a human life at all."
They began bickering as Ria saw an opportunity to slowly exit and take her leave. She had enough of her parents for the day. Just as she reached for the exit, however, it took an interesting turn.
"Then let us settle this as Martial Artists ought to," Rui spoke with a stronger tone of voice. "With a battle."
A challenging smile emerged on Amare’s face.
"I have been waiting for this. I will fulfill the vendetta of my future self by beating you up for the mess you made!"
Rui’s grin was one of excitement. In truth, the argument they had was not serious. He admitted he was saying some rather exaggerated stuff, though he did believe some of it. More importantly, he wanted to fight Amare.
She was one of the strongest Martial Artists he had ever met. No, it was accurate to say that she was the strongest Martial Artist he had ever met, period. She was stronger than even the Martial Transcendents of the past, who had been gone for nearly two decades now.
When was the last time he had had the opportunity to battle a proper Martial Artist with every ounce of power he had without needing to hold back?
He genuinely could not remember. It might have been as far back as his duel with Damian in the Central Highlands of the Beast Domain. He had become the strongest Martial Artist from then up until now, and only Amare had ever offered even the faintest threat in battle. The only other people who could challenge him were people in the top ten who were other Martial Artists and the embodiment of the noosphere, which was controlled by the virus outside the manifold as a proactive hunting dog.
After he became a Transcendent, the problem was even worse. Literally no other Martial Artist was more than an insect to him. One of the reasons he had avoided pulling Amare out of her isolated training was that he desperately wanted her to break through.
And now, she had.
And her breakthrough exceeded his expectations, as his wife normally did. He felt a surge of excitement that he hadn’t felt for a long time, since the day he met her. A woman who could keep up with him was the most attractive woman in the entire universe, as far as he was concerned. He was excited, in more ways than one, when he felt a dual Martialverses boiling with power.
A battle whose outcome he couldn’t be certain of. He outstripped her in most measures, save for kinesthetic learning and technique mastery. However, she had two Martialverses. And on top of that, her efficiency had transformed into an unfathomably high-grade principle, perhaps the highest grade that Rui had ever seen.
The principle of time travel.
Could he defeat her? He didn’t know, and he couldn’t wait to find out.
The two Martial Transcendents stood at some distance from each other as Ria chose to stay, curious about the outcome of the match. Her father had spent thirteen years in the Transcendent Realm, so she felt like he should have had an advantage, but her mother didn’t feel any less powerful in Ria’s instincts.
She was keenly sensitive to causality, especially Martial causality. But the branches of possible futures of this battle were divided equally between victory and defeat for both sides.
RUMBLE
The very fabric of reality shook as the two Transcendents took their stances opposite each other.
