The Martial Unity

Chapter 4596: Boundary Conditions

Rui pondered his words, gazing out the window upon the vast and spacious campus of the Kandrian Institute for Theoretical Science, illuminated by the gentle light of the evening sun. A large number of students congregated outside after class, returning to their dormitories. Most of them had no idea that the most powerful person in human civilization was present in the same campus as them.

He turned back to the professor. The man’s judgment matched his own, which meant that he was on the right track. Now to ask him for what he truly had come for.

"What kind of laws of physics would it take for this to be possible?"

The professor frowned at that question. That was the first time he had ever been asked such a question in his long career as a theoretical physicist and professor. Of course, questions pertaining to alternate laws of reality were not uncommon, per se. A lot of people had tried to model what a universe with different constants or different relations between the fundamental forces.

"Hm... It’s hard to say without actually penning these laws and running models on simplified space-times with these laws, but I can think of a few conditions under which the Calabi-Yau manifold could be opened despite the space being overlapped with matter and energy.

Rui listened with more rapt attention.

"The first idea that immediately comes to mind is to increase the strength of the quantum vacuum flux on the inside of the manifolds," the professor remarked. "The Calabi-Yau manifolds are higher-dimensional space-time closed surfaces that exist in equilibrium with quantum fluctuations inside and outside the manifold. If you can alter the strength of the flux inside the manifolds greatly, which would mean altering a few constants of reality, then you would be able to open the manifolds despite overlapping them with matter and energy."

Rui had considered that, but unfortunately that couldn’t be done by altering the laws of his body. After all, what was happening inside the manifold wouldn’t be affected by his body.

"Another possibility, and this sounds extremely far-fetched, is to simply remove vacuum fluctuations in the vacuums of your body. This would allow you to open the Calabi-Yau manifold within the spaces in your body, rather than the spaces occupied by the particles in your body."

Rui raised an eyebrow. "Elaborate."

The professor responded by projecting a hologram model of an atom. This was not the classical depiction of hard particles revolving around a collection of particles within the nucleus. Rather, the model used the distribution of the wave function to depict electrons that were smudged across their orbits in oval or elliptical shapes.

"Even in the quantum model of the atom, most of the atom is filled with vacuum. If you could alter the laws of reality, you could get rid of the fluctuations within this vacuum and open the manifolds there. Although you still wouldn’t be able to open them in regions of space occupied by particles, you would be able to turn the vacuum within your atoms into portals to the higher dimensions, assuming you truly can alter the laws of physics in your body."

Rui found this proposal to be much more interesting than the previous one. It sounded quite powerful if he could fill the vacuum in his body with hyperdimensional components of his existence.

But this had much more limited applications of hyperdimensional reality. He wanted a solution that could allow him to use hyperdimensional principles much more flexibly and in a more versatile manner.

"Noted, anything else?" Rui raised an eyebrow. "Preferably a set of conditions that would allow me to access the higher dimensions much more unconditionally."

That almost sounded oxymoronic, but the professor fell into thought. "I suppose the most direct and perfect solution, if you truly could alter the laws of reality in a given region of space or object, would be to alter the boundary conditions of quantum gauge fields. There are numerous other laws that would need to be rewritten, basically all of them, because this would break reality otherwise, but the core law to achieve what you want to achieve is the boundary conditions."

Rui recalled his studies in String Theory. "I believe that refers to the set of conditions that describe what quantum fields have as components in higher dimensions. I suppose it is these conditions that are ultimately what lock away higher dimensions from us."

The professor nodded. "If you can alter the boundary conditions, an extremely unfathomable aspect of reality, mind you, then you should be able to get rid of the Calabi-Yau manifold altogether, theoretically speaking."

Rui’s eyes lit up. He could already tell that this was going to be much more challenging than the prior solution that the professor offered, but he preferred this one much more because it was much more perfect.

If he could successfully Legislate the laws of his Martial Body to change the boundary conditions of the quantum gauge fields, then he could potentially enter and exit higher dimensions without needing to rely on the Verse.

Compared to using his Martialverse, this was a much more preferable solution. He could scarcely imagine how much stronger he would become. The two of them mathed out the set of conditions to achieve the results that Rui wanted. When Rui departed from the professor’s office, he wore a satisfied expression, having left with many complex mathematical equations that described the conditions he desired in his body.

He immediately returned to the manifold, secluding himself in isolation before beginning.

He closed his eyes, activating his Martialverse. His consciousness expanded into the information dimension with the power of phenomenological uniformity. This time, he didn’t send his Martialverse into the causal layer, as he usually did, but rather into the layer of laws.

He began exploring the layer of laws with both familiarity and curiosity.

His understanding of the information dimension had grown in the past thirteen years, but his new insights allowed him to understand its nature more.

"The information dimension... might be the only thing that is real."
