The Martial Unity

Chapter 4565 Wary Dessandrites

The dessandrites held a private meeting the moment their meeting with the Chancellor of Gaia ended. The ten leaders of Dessandrite Sky Civilization and their advisors gathered together, seated in a circular arrangement, with the advisors seated behind their leaders.

"It appears that we are dealing with a rather unique civilization," Lord Sheshank began with a curious tone. "The fact that it has produced an Administrator despite covering a mere ten thousand stars, if that alien is to be believed, is rather shocking. Administrators are typically only produced by civilizations that are much larger. It's a miracle that such a small civilization gave birth to an Administrator."

"That's not all," an advisor behind Lord Sheshank remarked. "The fact that the Divine Mother went out of her way to facilitate a meeting between our civilizations at their request shows that she values the opinions of this civilization despite its small size. That must mean that it is not only unique and valuable, but also possesses some form of leverage."

"It must be that ability to avoid the price of the Skyverse," Lord Karthiken, the male leader of the Septiri Tribe, remarked thoughtfully. "That secret is priceless to a Divine Mother like her. She must really want it, which would explain why she's humoring the leader of such a small civilization."

"Another thing that is odd is that it has been two weeks since the Web of War departed from arakai mainland civilization," Lady Maya of the Klaren Tribe remarked. "Although that army was small by the standards of war conducted by our civilizations, it should have been overwhelming to a more primitive civilization of only ten thousand stars. Yet, it appears that this primitive civilization has managed to hold its own despite the pressure it must be experiencing."

The other Alphas also nodded. "This civilization must be extraordinary in more ways than one. It's a pity that the Divine Mother is unwilling to share more information with us on this civilization."

"It shows how much she values them once again, though it might also be that she simply doesn't want us to get our hands on the secret to bypassing the Verse," Lord Sheshank remarked, falling into thought.

He was wary of the Divine Mother even if she had been sincere enough in their dealings. Her intelligence had proven to be valuable on numerous occasions. She was a crafty female who understood others really well; she understood what they wanted, and she used that to gain their trust.

He did believe she genuinely sought to create a pan-racial civilization, but he didn't believe that this would necessarily happen in a way that was tolerable to any dessandrite. It meant that she wasn't necessarily on the same side them, just that they had temporarily aligned interests.

"The main point is to evaluate the offer made by the Chancellor of Gaia," an advisor reminded all of them. "Personally, I believe that there is merit in this arrangement. If this male is able to eliminate War-Faction Divine Mothers, then that would indeed be ideal. Ending this war is the first step that we need to take. After that, we can focus on this Administrator and try to gather any information that we are able to."

Every single Clan Alpha was on the same page in that they needed to find a way to get access to the secret that this Administrator was holding. It was unthinkable for them to simply let go of such a priceless secret. They were leaders of a vast civilization that stretched across millions and millions of stars, and their responsibilities as well as their positions prevented them from ignoring this powerful asset.

Even if they didn't get it, it was possible that another civilization might, and that would not bode well for the dessandrites, even if that civilization was an ally. On the other hand, the best way to secure themselves against this method was to acquire it for themselves.

They could even use it to exert control over their Skyfathers.

After all, no civilization was uniform. Administrators were entities that were beyond civilizations, in some ways. They didn't require the power of a civilization in most cases, and they wielded a tremendous amount of power within a civilization. Yet, there was nothing for them beyond a civilization either, and it was easy enough for a civilization to control them by the threat of making them disappear. Although there were Skyfathers who didn't care about that.

Once they got their hands on whatever method this alien Administrator used to prevent himself from disappearing, they could use it to make all sorts of gains.

"Should we…" one advisor began. "…try ambushing this alien Administrator when we meet in person?"

Several leaders around them exchanged glances, their expressions serious. They weren't against such tactics by any means. Anything was fair game, as far as they were concerned. A civilization would have never reached such a grand scale if it wasn't willing to do everything it could and use everything at its disposal to get ahead.

However, what concerned them in this case was that it appeared that the alien Administrator specifically wanted to meet in person. That made them wary. Based on their exchanges with this Administrator, it was clear that this individual wasn't a fool. He undoubtedly was aware of the risks. Yet he proposed it voluntarily regardless.

That made them fear some sort of trap, perhaps even an ambush. Maybe there were other Administrators in his civilization, and he only pretended that he was the only one in order to catch them off-guard.

Lord Sheshank shook his head. "It's too risky. For now, let's not make another enemy while we're still dealing with the arakai. Once the arakai are beaten back, this civilization will lose its leverage, and we can get our hands on their method, one way or another."

The leaders around the table nodded, and the decision had been made. Although they were confident in their power, they were also cautious. This deal was plenty meritorious on its own, and they had a lot to gain even if it simply went down as it should have.
