Chapter 4086 Lectured Rui
Chapter 4086 Lectured Rui
“Although we have our own super-giant entity ourselves if it truly came to that.”
It wasn’t in effect, though, and that was something that he intended to change when the time came for it. But beholding the sheer power of the world ship in the information dimension also made clear why they needed to go. It was likely the most powerful class of ships in the entirety of the laminar civilization. He could understand why they had ultimately decided that it wasn’t worth it for a ship as powerful as the world ship couldn’t simply afford to be sitting in one place doing nothing for too long.
After all, there were no meaningful missions left in the solar system. It was best to leave behind a delegation with enough starships and infrastructure that could handle most engagements while the world ship went out to conduct more missions in the Milky Way.
He suspected that the laminar integument had run into another infected planet. After all, the fact that the laminar civilization had sent this particular world ship running to their civilization the very moment they detected a high-priority call from the alien virus likely meant that this particular world ship was in charge of dealing with the more high-priority infected worlds out there in the Milky Way Galaxy.
He wondered how many infected worlds there were and at what frequency throughout the Milky Way Galaxy. A little over a month had passed since he destroyed the alien virus within the planet of Gaia, and if he assumed that this frequency was the norm, then it meant that every month in the Milky Way, there was some planet that they detected to be infected.
He wasn’t even surprised by that frequency. After all, there were hundreds of billions of planets across the entire Milky Way. If even one percent of them were infected, that still represented billions of infected planets, and even a small portion of that billion being exposed would likely wind up being a huge load for them to face every single day.
“A thankless task but… you have my gratitude for everything you have done for the preservation of the very universe,” Rui spoke across the very fabric of space and time, even as the laminar integument entered the world ship.
He hoped the alien jellyfish had heard his words. RUMBLE
The very fabric of space and time quaked as the world ship began to amass a tremendous amount of power. He could feel a truly unfathomable localized gravity well develop around the world ship as it gathered the tremendous energy needed to transport such a massive construct across the entire galaxy.
RUMBLE!!!!!
The world shook violently as the very fabric of reality tore, swallowing the entire world ship up in the blink of an eye.
WHOOSH
Just like that, the entire world ship teleported away.
Just like that, it was gone.
In its place was a single spaceship left behind. It sent him several radio signals in accordance with the protocols established between the Gaian Alliance and the Laminar Civilization. It would remain at the very edge of the solar system, respecting the Gaian Alliance’s claim and sovereignty over Sol.
He heaved a deep breath.
The absence of the laminar world ship certainly made him feel more relaxed, but it also made him feel more exposed. Perhaps it was because he knew that he could count on them as his newfound allies to report to help him out if things truly turned sideways with some kind of enemy attack.
“We need to grow strong enough to protect ourselves,” Rui remarked to himself with a knowing expression. “Only we can truly protect ourselves in a hostile galaxy where only the fittest will survive.”
That, he was confident of. He heaved a deep breath, shaking his head as he teleported back to the Kandrian Empire in the blink of an eye, returning right home to his Royal Quarters in the Vargard Royal Palace. The night sky was cloudy, hiding the broken moon out of sight. Outside the window, the lights of civilization cut against the darkness like fireflies, making for a picturesque view of the modernity of the Kandrian Empire.
“Papa! You’re back!” The enthused voice of Ria reached him as she ran towards him.
“Heheh, have you been a good girl?” He lifted his daughter up in his arms, kissing her on the head. “How was school today?”
“It was fun. Today we drew a bunch of aliens in class!” She pointed to several drawings on the bed that were messily spread across the bed. Rui smiled with a hint of amusement as he saw rather clumsy depictions of the laminar integuments and the crystal striders fighting back against the bad nebulars.
“Wow, those are really nice.” He nodded with an impressed expression. “You should become an artist.”
“I want to become a Martial Artist,” she insisted, furrowing her eyebrows with a hint of indignation.
Rui smiled at her. “And how has your Martial Art training been going?”
“Today I practiced with mama, and I managed to defeat her!”
“Really?” He turned towards Amare with a raised eyebrow. “Maybe your mother has been slacking off and needs some training herself.”
“Mama is strong.”
“Is she now?”
“Very.” Ria nodded in a matter-of-fact manner. “Papa, are you going to outer space?”
Her amber eyes glistened with a keen intensity.
“Not at all,” Rui quickly refused the allegations. “Papa will remain here with Ria forever.”
“Oh…” Her voice grew disappointed. “…Do you want me to go away?” “Ria wants Papa to take her with him to outer space.”
“Why do you want to go to outer space? There isn’t much to see, you know? Just a whole lot of empty space.”
“Liar! Ria learned in school that there are many stars in the universe! Ria wants to visit the twinkling stars and hold them in her hands!”
Rui smiled with a hint of amusement at her childish motivations. “I’ll be sure to take you if I ever go.”
“Teacher said a lot of people are going to space.”
“Really? First, I’m hearing about it.”
Ria turned towards him with a hint of irritation, furrowing his eyebrows. “Papa! You don’t know anything! Listen, ok? Teacher said…”
Rui listened and nodded as his daughter scolded him for being too unaware about the happenings of human civilization and the race to the stars that was about to unfold.
Then she got tired and fell asleep.
