WHOOSH
STEP
He arrived at a different land altogether. The evening Sun and gentle auburn sky were different from the afternoon Sun in Kiriket, telling him that he was in an entirely different timezone altogether. He found himself in an exotic forest with flora of a myriad of different colors and shapes that separated it from anything he had seen in any other continent.
He could sense it from the air alone.
The atmosphere.
It was different.
From anything in Genora, or the Hlakaschken Trade Empire, or Kiriket. It was fundamentally different from the true world as a whole, comprising matter that simply didn’t exist in the true world.
He knew exactly where he was.
“The Panama Continent…” he whispered with a shaky breath as pitch-black eyes widened with shock.
It was truly unfathomable, and yet the truth was absolutely clear. He found himself in his home continent, far away from the Continent of Kiriket. He knew that he had just accomplished something that was supposed to be impossible with modern wormhole technology.
None of the invading forces of the true world that had come to the Panama Continent after the Unfolding had used a wormhole. Even the furthest teleportations that he had seen were within a continent, whether it was the World Bridge or the wormhole technology of the elves.
And yet, he had just teleported across the world.
“Incredible…!” Rui gazed at his hands with a shocked expression as he realized the sheer significance of what he was doing. “This… This is…”
It represented a breakthrough in teleportation.
It proved his suspicions right that the Panama Continent had what it took to become the first civilization capable of interstellar travel. With the power of conventional technology, the energy of the Sun, and the power of esoterics, it could build gigantic wormholes that could allow the civilizations of Gaia to travel to the stars and explore a whole new world.
“I need to tell father about this,” Rui realized as his attention returned to his environment, trying to ascertain where he was. “I am near the original territory of the Beast Domain, likely in one of its inner rings and based on the position of the Sun…”
He shifted his gaze to his left. “…The Kandrian Empire is that way.”
RUMBLE
The world quivered as he activated Worm Step, warping the very fabric of space and time over the span of an entire minute as he pushed it to its very limit.
He closed his eyes as he pushed his senses far into the east of the continent, seeking to find the exact location that he sought to teleport to.
Then, he tore a hole through the very fabric of reality.
WHOOSH
In the blink of an eye, he disappeared.
A moment later, he arrived in a posh, extravagant office. Time slowed down as he shifted his gaze to find a man with golden hair and golden eyes seated at the table within the office, gazing seriously at several documents in his hand, deep in thought.
His father, the Emperor of Harmony.
Before Rui could even say a word, Sage Sayfeel surged forth with pure reflex, unleashing a powerful death blow while positioning himself between Rui and Emperor Rael.
Yet, against Rui, it was nothing.
CLASP
Rui effortlessly caught his attack, dispersing the energy of the blow through the world harmlessly, stopping it cleanly in its tracks.
WHOOSH
A gust of wind emerged from the attack as the Emperor of Harmony’s golden eyes widened at the sight. From his perspective, one moment, he was simply sitting at his chair, skimming through some important intelligence reports from the dwarves, and the very next moment, Rui appeared out of nowhere while Sayfeel had already thrown a punch at him.
“Rui…?” Emperor Rael stood up, gazing at his son with a shocked expression.
Rui grinned with an excited expression. “Hey, Dad.”
The Emperor of Harmony simply stared at his son as Sage Sayfeel calmed down, turning to the Emperor with a nod, confirming that it was Rui. Rui’s presence was something that couldn’t be faked by any other entity in the world; it was just too extraordinary in too many ways.
Emperor Rael gazed at him, stunned. “…How?”
“It’s a bit of a long story, actually,” Rui heaved a tired breath. “It will take some time to explain.
He took his seat opposite his father while narrating everything that had led to this moment. Emperor Rael’s expression grew serious when he learned of the negatrons and the fact that the Gajanan Clan could even mass-produce them, as well as what Rui intended to do about the Dragon Emperor and why he needed the negatrons in the first place.
“I see…” the Emperor of Harmony steepled his fingers, leaning on the table as his expression grew severe. “You copied elven teleportation technology and fused it with the power of esoteric matter to create a combination that has already proven to be much greater than either of them would be individually. To be able to teleport from Kiriket to the Panama Continent in the blink of an eye, that is what is truly impressive. At this rate, we will be the first ones to interstellar space.”
“Not if we trade too much of it to the rest of the true world,” Rui remarked. “If we give away too much, then we will lose our advantage.”
“The demand for esoterics is higher than the demand for the technology,” Emperor Rael replied. “That gives us an advantage. Not to mention, they need both esoteric matter and esoteric technology, while we just need their technology, for we have conventional matter. We have iron, copper, aluminium, and carbon, and all the other materials they have; this also gives us a huge advantage.”
Rui nodded. “That is indeed working in our favor. However, what doesn’t work in our favor is the fact that we have almost no space infrastructure aside from some satellites. That is a huge disadvantage in the race to interstellar space that’s going to hurt us when the time comes.”
