Chapter 3281: Approaching Moment

Chapter 3281: Approaching Moment

Mother Alicia’s explanation of the light elves explained a lot to Rui about why they were going to inevitably attack him. In particular, he was the epitome of what they wanted to change, it appeared.

They were irrevocably provoked, by their emotions, to attack him and eliminate him if they felt that other species needed to be brought into line and ’back to nature.’

“To be clear,” Mother Alicia’s tone grew pointed. “While we regret that much of the modern world has abandoned its bond with nature and has butchered its mother, we don’t share the idea that they need to be brought back with force. We maintain a friendly relationship with any civilization that doesn’t wish to conquer us. And we are still eager to maintain this brand-new alliance and friendship with you, our human friends. While we encourage you to make use of the nature that you have and will supply you all the technology needed to do so, we by no means wish to try and force you.”

Rui smiled at her in an amused fashion. “Relax, Mother Alicia, we are aware that dark elves and light elves are very different from each other. I actually don’t mind if the light elves want to enslave us.”

Mother Alicia tilted her head with great confusion. “What?”

“After all…” Rui’s eyes lit up with excitement. “It’s a good excuse to fight them without any worries about nature and whatnot, no?”

She shook her head with exasperation. “You are incorrigible.”

Rui grinned at her words. “Enough chatting, time to get back to training.”

BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!

Mother Alicia smoothly evaded the nature attacks that Rui unleashed upon her as he tried catching her off-guard with a sudden attack.

“Your nature communication is still too transparent,” Mother Alicia flatly told him. “I could see it coming from a mile away. You need to be smoother about it. Your defense is also lacking more than your offense, so we will be focusing on that for the rest of the training session. Let’s see…”

She raised her hand.

SNAP

With a single snap of her fingers, the heavens shook as the world surged with tremendous winds.

“Try surviving this with just nature manipulation alone,” she whispered.

RUMBLE…

Rui felt Primordial Instinct raising alarm bells in his hands as the trees around him began shedding their green leaves en masse. The pittering sound of falling leaves spread across the region of the forest they were in, before slowly levitating off the ground.

They hardened and sharpened, becoming razor-thin blades that could slice in half.

The winds carried the levitating blades, sweeping them in vigorous circles.

Circles around Rui.

RUMBLE!

The world shook as a tremendous tornado of great power erupted in battle, threatening to utterly decimate him.

WHOOSH!!!

The powerful winds flung deathly-sharp leaves of great power, precision, and accuracy, reducing anything it touched to mushy confetti.

“Rgh…!” Rui gritted his teeth as he summoned a flood of roots from below the ground to protect him from the destructive attack as he had them dig out a burrow for him to hide within.

Yet the sheer force of the tornado that Mother Alicia effortlessly conjured was so high that even the roots he summoned were ground away almost instantly, leaving them reduced to wet sawdust.

SPLAT SPLAT SPLAT!

The attacks churned away at Rui’s skin and flesh even as his powerful regeneration struggled to keep up.

However, even as he made it underground, Mother Alicia didn’t let him off the hook, causing the tornado to become a drill that dug into the ground, preventing him from finding any reprieve from the attacks underground.

The winds were being conjured by her main body at the very epicenter of the Forest of War. She was able to effortlessly manipulate weather and climate, as well as create and manipulate the winds as she pleased.

She also had complete control of land, so much so that not even the Scriptures of Terra would be enough to completely wring it out of her control. She was able to perfectly temper the storm to push Rui’s newly achieved nature manipulation to the very limit, watching unperturbed even as his flesh was ripped off his body.

She would normally not push any elven warrior this far, but in the past few months, she had come to understand exactly how far he could be pushed and what his tolerance was.

And the answer was that she could push him as hard as she wanted,d and he wouldn’t break. She found it shocking that he had gone through such extreme and maddening training that even this excruciating torture didn’t rank particularly high in terms of the most difficult training sessions he had undergone.

’In that case, I need not hold back too much.’

Mother Alicia was quite curious to see how far Rui would go and how possible it was for Rui to bond with nature using that artificial interface of his.

Unbeknownst to Rui, the dark elves saw hope in him and Amare in their ability to manipulate nature despite not being elves.

While the light elves were disgusted, the dark elves hoped that when Rui traded his systems of thought and techniques to them, he would unlock the Nature Path to other races. The possibility of following the Nature Path made it a little easier for them to spread nature around the world without certain civilizations and races rejecting it.

Thus, Mother Alicia had intended to push him to the limit to see what his prospects for growth were, whether there were hard limits in what he could or couldn’t do insofar as nature manipulation, and how viable his growth was.

Rui, on the other hand, simply took this as training for the impending and ensuing attack on him.

With each day, week, and month that passed, his instincts and his prophecy could sense the approaching day.

It wasn’t long.

It wasn’t long before he would be ambushed by an entire civilization.
