Chapter 3157: Space Wars
Chapter 3157: Space Wars
The Emperor of Harmony was not exaggerating. The Evolutionary Army and the Imperial Tekvorian Federation alone drained a majority of their forces just to keep at bay, leaving them with far too little to spare for the therianthropes, the dwarves, and the giants.
“If not for you, it is very likely the Panama Continent would simply have been overwhelmed,” Emperor Rael explained. “Thanks to the Beast Excursion and our alliance with Jormungandr, even setting up a single settlement has become extremely difficult. And in the twenty-four hours that have passed since you’re awakening, we have yet to gain a single new incoming convoy from the true world.”
It was difficult to believe that only twenty-four hours had passed since Rui woke up from his coma.
So much had happened that it almost felt like a week.
“Since then, all the pureblood powers of the true world have stayed their hands,” the Emperor of Harmony remarked. “We have yet to gain any new attacks and convoys, but that doesn’t mean we’re at peace. Not at all.”
Rui nodded with a serious expression. “It just means that we have overcome the most basic and hasty efforts.”
It would be as though if everybody learned of a treasure hidden in a location, and simply ran as fast as they could with no tools and minimal people to get to it as soon as possible.
Only to find out that getting to the treasure was extremely difficult because of all the booby traps, repelling them away.
The next step would be to return and regroup, and plan a more sophisticated attempt to gain the treasure.
That was the stage the true world was at at that time.
“The Evolutionary Army is not amenable,” the Emperor of Harmony remarked. “I have gained the reports on your conversation with the late supreme commander of the Evolutionary Army. There is no way we can have peace with the Evolutionary Army if they want to hunt you alive for being a ’traitor.’”
His father was clearly irked by that notion.
“To be honest,” Rui shrugged. “You can go ahead and make peace with them if you have the opportunity. I don’t mind making my conflict with them about myself. The more pressure I face, the more growth I undergo.”
His father shook his head. “Even if I were to agree to that, we can’t have peace with them because they wish to colonize this land and make it their new home; not coexisting with us, but exterminating us. Forget about it. They are our absolute enemies. The same can also be said for the tekvores who have only temporarily halted their attacks on our satellite system.”
Rui’s eyebrows furrowed with concern.
“…That sounds more than a little concerning.”
“It can be catastrophic,” the Emperor of Harmony’s expression darkened. “It has come to our attention that all six civilizations have some permanent outer-space presence. Something that we have learned only thanks to Sage Gurrent and his nifty telescopic Martial Art technique.”
Rui’s eyes lit up at those words.
He had been the one to pass on that technique to Sage Gurren when the man was still a Martial Master long ago during the Kandrian Throne War. It was interesting to hear of that technique after all these years, being of use for gaining crucial intelligence in war with the true world.
“I imagine that we have already begun developing solutions to resist?” Rui raised an eyebrow. “Surely we can establish our permanent presence in space with the help of the Esoterist and the Astromind leading the charge.”
“That is exactly what we are attempting to do,” the Emperor of Harmony confirmed with a serious tone. “In the previous discussion with the leaders of the other powerhouses, we have come to an agreement to create our own Panamic Defense Space Station to protect our satellite communication systems, and perhaps even more importantly…”
His golden eyes narrowed with intensity.
“…to prevent our enemies from attacking us from outer space.”
Rui’s expression grew hazy with thought. “…Attacking us from outer space to have gravity on their side and to bypass the Great Nam Ocean, I presume.”
The Emperor of Harmony nodded with a grave expression. “Of course, I’m still grateful to Jormungandr, but unfortunately, the Great Nam Ocean will be rendered useless if they deploy attacks from outer space. The monsters of the Great Nam Ocean can make the waters impregnable and, to an extent, even the skies, but they are entirely useless against attacks from outer space.”
Rui’s pitch-black eyes sharpened as he fell into thought.
“That’s actually true, I haven’t even had time to think about this since it has only been a day since I woke up, but…” Rui’s expression grew severe. “An attack from outer space would entirely bypass the Great Nam Ocean.”
Rui thought about raining meteors of evolutionaries, tekvores, therianthropes, and giants from the depths of the sky.
It was not a pleasant vision.
“If we allow that to happen, we will return to basically the same old circumstances,” Rui’s tone was dire. “We need to get ahead to ensure that we don’t fall back.”
The Emperor of Harmony nodded. “I have used as much of the manifold for the development of these space station solutions. The Esoterist and the Astromind have already entered the manifold and have commenced their design process along with teams from across human civilization to develop a powerful space station system. The moment they are done in a few months of real time, we will commence manufacturing and production and send them to space to protect our satellite systems. Until then…”
The Emperor of Harmony heaved a sigh. “We will have to do this the hard way.”
Rui raised an eyebrow. “The hard way?”
Emperor Rael nodded. “We will have to manually deploy Martial Sages to space with a special breathing system made from special esoteric flora and have them wage war in outer space.”
Rui’s eyes widened at those words. “What?”
The concept of Martial Sages fighting in space was just strangely bizarre in Rui’s mind. He associated martial arts with the terrestrial inherently. To see Martial Art in space was weirdly counterintuitive.
And yet, they didn’t have any choice regarding the matter.
Their satellite systems needed to be protected.
