A pair of greaves flew over the head of the humming mermaid. The iron greaves, having soared into the air, plopped into the swimming pool, creating ripples. Cellu dived into the water, retrieved the mangled piece of metal, and threw it back toward the athletic field. Elsi, collapsed on the ground, watched the greaves fly through the air and bounce beside her head.

“You shouldn’t throw it so carelessly.”

“Heh. But I don’t have legs.”

Elsi complained, but Cellu just laughed it off. Elsi reached out and examined the greaves again. They were horribly crumpled, as if they had been run over by a large truck. Sieri came over and cast a heal on Elsi's legs. Across from Elsi, Eve was sitting slumped over.

“Fuck, how does she get stronger every day? I’m going to lose at this rate.”

Eve put a water bottle to her lips and chugged. The water soaked the scruff of her neck, and she wiped it away messily with her hand. The pulsing blood vessels in her neck were damp. Eve threw the water bottle to Elsi.

“The mermaid is strong too.”

“Fuck, if I lose this time, next time we’re fighting in the water.”

As Elsi caught the water bottle, Eve threw a joke at her. Elsi took a sip of water, then poured the rest over her head. Startled by the sight, Sieri took a step back. Eve found it amusing to see Sieri stomping her feet and chuckled. The daily life of the mansion was always like this. Eve and Elsi would train, Sieri would watch from the side, and broken equipment was either taken to the forge or repaired by Soya.

Eve caught the water bottle Elsi threw back and tipped it into her mouth. Seeing that not a single drop came out, she clicked her tongue and looked at Cellu. Cellu pointed at the swimming pool water and said.

“Want me to fill it?”

“No thanks.”

“Heh.”

Eve stuck her tongue out at Cellu, then brushed herself off and stood up. The soldiers standing at the mansion's main gate, who had been watching, quickly turned their heads and pretended to be diligently on guard when their eyes met Eve's. Since Eve and Elsi sparred on the athletic field almost every day, it was a familiar sight. Sieri brought her a towel. Eve wiped her neck and face, then brushed off her clothes once more.

“Did I get anything on my back?”

“Ah, you got it all. I think it’ll be fine if you just brush it off again when you go inside. Would you like to give me your clothes?”

“Hey, hey, make Aira do this stuff. Why are you trying to do it, huh?”

“Huh? B-But…”

“I’m telling you, you’re the lord’s wife.”

The bickering between Eve and Sieri was also a part of their daily life. Eve was always worried about Sieri's timid nature, but at the same time, she was wary of Sieri losing it by trying to act too strong. Sieri, trying to take the clothes from Eve, and Eve, insisting she would give them to the servants herself, had a small war of nerves. In the end, it was Sieri who lost. She muttered to Eve with a pouting face.

“You told me to just act as I always do…”

“No, fuck, there’s a certain way a lord’s wife should act in her daily life, isn't there? Or go pray or something. You’re a cleric, aren’t you? Isn’t it great to pray? When you assist me like this, people see you as my subordinate.”

“But…”

“You’re the wife. Got it?”

“But I want to be helpful.”

“Fuck. I really can’t say anything to that.”

Eve shook her head and grumbled. As she said, it was a point she couldn’t argue against. If she pushed it, Sieri might start some strange deeds again, claiming she'd try to be strong, and the aftermath would be unmanageable. Eve clicked her tongue and went up to her office.

“So, what needs to be handled today?”

“An invoice arrived from the capital city.”

“An invoice?”

“Yes.”

Arriving at the office, Eve tore open the invoice envelope to check its contents. Four rings. And a set of lingerie. Eve couldn’t stop the corners of her mouth from creeping up into a grin.

“It says rings.”

“Rings?”

At the word "rings," Sieri also seemed pleased, her face flushing as she clung to Eve. She practically pushed Eve aside to check the letter. It seemed the two of them had forgotten about the line item for lingerie. Eve said.

“If there are four rings, that’s you, me, and Aira. That still leaves one person.”

“C-Could it be for the Hero?”

“I don’t think so.”

Eve knew the way AA looked at Lusius, so she resolutely shook her head. Lusius liked women, but he wasn't the type to waste money on useless things. That meant there was someone else in this territory to whom Lusius would give a ring…

“Mermaid. The mage says she needs an invoice to make repairs. Make one.”

The door burst open and Elsi entered. In her tank top, she was showing off her voluptuous figure. As always, Eve looked at the revealing outfit as if she was dumbfounded, then frowned and spoke.

“I told you to dress properly inside the mansion. Why don’t you just walk around naked, huh?”

“I’ll only get naked in front of the cleric.”

“Right, that’s very goo—wait a minute.”

Eve stared at Elsi. Sieri also looked back and forth between Elsi and the letter, then asked Eve.

“Could it be for Elsi?”

“Looks like it.”

Eve looked at Elsi's fingers again. As a beastfolk, her hands were more like a cat's than a human's, and a difficult size for a ring to fit. Eve looked at the invoice and asked Sieri.

“The price for one of the rings is unusually cheap, right?”

“Maybe it’s made of a different material.”

“What are you two whispering about? Mermaid. The greaves need fixing. Hand over the invoice.”

“Hey, do you like accessories?”

Eve asked Elsi. Elsi tilted her head at the sudden question, then asked.

“Accessories? You mean like a bone necklace?”

“Yeah, that kind of thing.”

“I don’t like them. They’re cumbersome when I fight.”

“Really? Looks like our husband is buying one for you too, but I guess you don’t need it?”

At the mention of Lusius buying her an accessory, Elsi's shoulders twitched, and she tilted her head, her tail swishing back and forth. She carefully took a step and stuck close to Eve’s side. Squeezed by Elsi, Sieri pulled herself out from between Eve and Elsi. Elsi looked at the letter and said.

“Mermaid. Read it to me.”

“This? It’s just an invoice.”

“An invoice? You need an invoice to buy accessories?”

“Yeah, all nobles do. If they carry money around, they could get robbed or have it stolen, so they just have the invoice sent to their territory to be paid there. Our husband is strong as hell, so it seems unnecessary, but he always insists on using invoices.”

“Then, the cleric bought an accessory for me?”

“Probably? I’m not sure, but it’s probably yours.”

“I see.”

Elsi's tail and ears were twitching back and forth. Eve was certain she could catch a big fish if she just dangled that tail in the water. Eve asked.

“You like it that much?”

“I don’t like it at all. Accessories only get in the way when I fight. The cleric is clearly doing something unnecessary.”

“Should we cancel the order then?”

“Th-There’s no need for that! It's unnecessary, but! Since the cleric bought it, I have to wear it!”

When Eve slyly tested her, Elsi shouted in a fluster. Finding Elsi’s raised voice refreshing, Eve chuckled and said.

“Cute.”

“Don’t call me cute.”

“Sieri. What do you think?”

Eve turned the arrow on Sieri. Elsi narrowed her eyes slightly and stared at Sieri. Beside them, Eve was watching Sieri with a smirk. The flustered Sieri looked alternately between the two, then stammered.

“Ah, I, I don’t know!”

“How boring.”

“The mermaid is mean.”

A knocking sound was heard. Forgetting their bickering, Eve said.

“Come in.”

It was a knight. He flinched upon seeing all three of them in the room, then cleared his throat and said.

“Pardon the intrusion. We have an esteemed guest from the royal palace.”

“An esteemed guest? Who?”

“It is Knight Bellix Karin.”

“Why is she here all of a sudden? Did our husband do something wrong?”

It hadn’t been long since Bellix Karin had returned after coming down for business related to the Church of Love. For her to come down here again, Eve couldn’t help but be bewildered.

“W-Well, she said she would like to meet you in person to discuss the matter, so she is currently waiting in the first floor reception room.”

“Tell her to come up.”

“Yes.”

After the knight left, Elsi asked.

“Mermaid. Should I go somewhere else?”

“No, you stay here. It’s better if we all hear it together.”

“Should I bring Mother Mermaid?”

“That’s a good idea. Go bring our mom for us.”

Eve set up the guest chairs in the office. She forced Sieri to sit down so she couldn't help. Eve asked Sieri.

“Where’s Aira?”

“She’s cleaning on the first floor. Should I call her?”

“No, it’s fine.”

Karin came up just as Eve was setting up the last chair. Eve placed the chair and returned to her own seat at the desk, stretching her back. Along with a knock, Karin’s blunt tone was heard.

“Bellix Karin of the Royal Knight Order. I have come to request your cooperation regarding the matter of the Delmon Territory. May I come in and discuss the details?”

The agenda Bellix Karin brought up as she knocked on the door was so out of the blue that Eve and Sieri could only look at each other and tilt their heads. Karin, still gracefully sweeping back her wavy hair, bowed her head first with a blunt expression. Sieri felt a strange sense of discomfort at the fact that a knight was bowing to her. It seemed Eve felt the same discomfort, as she was staring at Karin with an uneasy expression.

“First of all, I apologize for asking for your help with a case that we should be handling on our own. After consulting with our investigation team, we concluded it would be better to ask for cooperation here rather than investigating on our own.”

“What’s going on?”

“First, would you please look at this document?”

The document Karin took out was a case report on the Lord of Delmon. Seeing the report, Sieri gasped and covered her mouth, while Eve narrowed her eyes. Inside the report, the vicious acts committed by the Lord of Delmon were written in full detail.

“Wow, what a magnificent bastard. So, what are you going to do with him?”

“The original plan was to charge straight into the lord's mansion, subdue the knights and guards, then secure the personal custody of the Lord of Delmon and return to the capital. However, the Delmon Territory is quite large and the risk of escape is very high, so a proposal was made to use a more certain method.”

“What is it?”

Karin took out an operation plan. The gazes of Sieri and Eve fell upon the paper.
