The Magnificent Son-in-law
Chapter 968 - 968: An Accidental Encounter with a Great Philanthropist
At the hotel front desk, Hua Ling looked at the amount on the consumption receipt in her hand, and her young heart was seriously hit.
So much money, and all it bought were these dolls and dishes. It's really not worth it!
Xiao Feng patted her shoulder and comforted, "It's okay, you can get reimbursed when you get back."
"Have you ever seen any company that can reimburse 190,000?" Hua Ling said with a bad temper.
"Then reimburse as much as you can. I didn't insist on you treating me to a meal."
As they talked, the two walked towards the door.
Just then, a woman's exclamation came from the left: "Mr. Xiao, why are you here?"
Xiao Feng glanced over and recognized her as a hotel lobby manager who had been working there since the opening.
"Seems like someone called you?" Hua Ling asked suspiciously.
"They weren't calling me," Xiao Feng said, not breaking stride. "Probably calling someone else."
Hua Ling looked around, puzzled, "Where is anyone else?"
The lobby manager noticed that Xiao Feng was ignoring her and became a bit anxious.
Did she do something wrong?
Or was Mr. Xiao secretly inspecting and found a problem, and now he's angry?
Thinking of this, she quickened her pace and stood in front of Xiao Feng, "Mr. Xiao, why didn't you notify us in advance if you were coming?"
Xiao Feng was immediately displeased to the extreme. What kind of quality do these employees have? The waiters taking private tips and not thinking about how to generate revenue for the hotel is one thing.
But how could the lobby manager be so clueless?
Dissatisfied, Xiao Feng said harshly, "Do I need to report to you when I come?"
"No, no, no. I didn't mean that. I meant if you had informed us in advance, we could have made arrangements for you..."
"Enough, disappear from my sight now." Xiao Feng said coldly, "Immediately! Right away!"
The lobby manager, named Guo Kaili, was stunned, her nose tingling, and her eyes gradually reddening.
She really didn't understand where she went wrong, and her grievance was evident.
"Wait a minute!"
Hua Ling, who had walked a bit further with Xiao Feng, stopped, turned around, and peeked out from beside a pile of dolls, asking, "Did you just call him Mr. Xiao?"
Guo Kaili exhaled deeply, folded her hands over her stomach, and adjusted her expression, "Yes."
"So, you're saying this hotel is his property?" Hua Ling nudged Xiao Feng's arm and continued to ask.
"This..." Guo Kaili looked at Xiao Feng, her eyes questioning.
Unsure whether to answer yes or no.
But from this hesitation, Hua Ling immediately understood.
Though not the sharpest, her simple and even slightly foolish thoughts didn't mean she was a simpleton.
"No wonder you insisted on coming to this hotel, turns out you planned it in advance to pocket my money?" Hua Ling couldn't help but jump and shout, "Hurry up and give me back the money!"
Xiao Feng ignored her and instead told Guo Kaili, "In the future, don't reveal my connection to the hotel in front of outsiders, understand?"
"Understood!"
"Alright, get back to work."
Hua Ling pursed her pink lips, feeling somewhat uncomfortable with Xiao Feng's use of "outsiders," but she said nothing.
After a moment, she finally remembered the main issue, frowning, "Return the money, return the money! Give me back my money!
Or I'll..."
Before she could finish, she saw Xiao Feng turn his head and run out the door.
Hua Ling immediately chased after him, determined to get the money back.
Chasing after each other for five minutes, Xiao Feng stopped and said, "You're so young, what do you need so much money for? Let me keep it safe for you."
"No need!" Hua Ling resolutely refused.
"You paid for services, why should I give the money back?" Xiao Feng argued with reason.
"Because it's your hotel. If someone else earns it, fine. But if you earn it, I feel upset."
Xiao Feng sneered, "Refunds are impossible. If it doesn't work, you can sit on the ground and shout for passersby to judge."
Just then, a familiar voice came from behind: "Xiao Feng?"
Xiao Feng turned his head and saw Nie Longjiao, who had tried to meet him for dinner several times over the past few days.
Beside her was a little girl wearing a knitted hat, Wu Xinqi, who had leukemia.
"What are you doing here?" Xiao Feng asked.
Nie Longjiao laughed somewhat sarcastically, "Isn't that a question I should be asking you?
You kept saying you were busy these past days, but you were just busy making a little girl happy?"
Hearing this questioning tone, Hua Ling immediately felt something was off. She glanced at Xiao Feng, then at Nie Longjiao opposite, and guessed what was happening.
She slowly walked to Xiao Feng's side, her tone unusually gentle and well-behaved, "Who is she?"
"A philanthropist."
"A philanthropist?"
"Yes, the Director of Jiangcheng Welfare Institute, Nie Longjiao."
"Oh." Hua Ling showed a knowing expression and smiled, "So, this elder sister is really kind-hearted."
Being praised didn't make Nie Longjiao much happier either, she looked at Xiao Feng, "Aren't you going to introduce us to each other?"
With that, she locked eyes with Hua Ling.
Both smiled politely, seemingly very courteous.
However, standing between them, Xiao Feng seemed to see an arc of electricity flickering between their gazes.
"This is Hua Ling, the sister of one of my employees, her main trait is shamelessness, no sense of propriety." Xiao Feng pointed to Hua Ling.
Nie Longjiao playfully scolded, "With such a pretty little girl, how could you say that?"
Hearing this, Hua Ling's initial dissatisfaction with Xiao Feng shifted entirely to Nie Longjiao, thinking inwardly, "Who asked you to stand up for me?"
"Where are you planning to go?" Xiao Feng asked.
Nie Longjiao placed her hand on Wu Xinqi's shoulder and replied, "To buy her a new set of clothes."
Then she looked at Hua Ling, "Little sister, wearing so little, don't you feel cold?"
"That's exactly why he plans to take me shopping for clothes," Hua Ling looked at Xiao Feng.
Nie Longjiao frowned slightly but said nothing.
Xiao Feng ruthlessly denied, "Don't talk nonsense, when did I say I'd take you clothes shopping?"
"Didn't you say I was dressed too lightly before?"
"I said it's too revealing, inappropriate for your age."
"Whatever it is, I'm planning to change my look."
"Then change it, no need to tell me."
Seeing the argument intensifying, Nie Longjiao stepped in to mediate, "Since it's such a coincidence, let's all go together."
"Let's go together, then." Hua Ling said defiantly.
Xiao Feng looked around, seemingly he hadn't agreed yet?
But before he could speak, Hua Ling dragged him towards a nearby clothing store.
On the way, Hua Ling's eyes lit up, she looked at Wu Xinqi and said, "We're meeting for the first time, I don't have much to give, so I'll give you these dolls."
With that, without waiting for Wu Xinqi's acceptance, she shoved all the dolls except for the pink rabbit over in one go.
Thinking to herself, "Finally 'unloaded' them."
