The Magnificent Son-in-law
Chapter 711 - 711: Tears of Regret
"Professor Xiao, thank you for saving my son's life. Without you, I really wouldn't know how to live." An elderly father holding a banner spoke with tears streaming down his face.
"Professor Xiao, your unique 'Steel Ladle' medical method is simply a miracle in the medical world. I think you should quickly apply for a patent." A nurse in a white coat said, clasping her hands together under her chin with an expression of pure admiration.
"Professor Xiao, my son has recently become obsessed with online games. I've hired several psychologists but none have worked, so I brought him to you. Please, you must save my son, I'll give you an extra million!" A successful man pleaded, bringing his son with him.
"Professor Xiao..."
"Professor Xiao..."
...
These images emerged in Xiao Feng's mind, causing him to burst into laughter.
But at this moment, Lone Wolf patted his shoulder, speaking urgently: "Big brother, big brother, stop laughing. He seems to be in trouble."
"In trouble, huh... What did you say?" Xiao Feng snapped out of his daydream and quickly turned his gaze to Hui Yi.
He saw Hui Yi, who had just been convulsing violently and foaming at the mouth, was now practically glued to the mud, but his rear end was still sticking up high, making for an extremely unseemly posture.
"What are you standing around for? Hurry up and help him up." Xiao Feng said irritably.
Lone Wolf and Hui Shiba quickly stepped forward, but as soon as they touched Hui Yi, they heard a "pop" sound. Both of them stepped back two paces as if they'd been attacked.
"Damn!"
Lone Wolf cursed, shaking his numb wrist. "He still has electricity running through him!"
"Forget whether there's electricity or not, first check if he's still breathing." Xiao Feng urged.
Hui Shiba and Lone Wolf had no choice but to approach again. Luckily, it seemed all the current had just been discharged, so they didn't get shocked this time.
Lone Wolf extended his hand to Hui Yi's nose and reported back, "He's still breathing."
"That's good." Xiao Feng sighed in relief.
Now the problem is, how do we rescue the two of them?
Xiao Feng squatted down, staring at the muddy ground beneath him, puzzled: "It looks unremarkable, so why does this mud have such strong adhesive power?"
"Perhaps it was influenced by Thunder Pattern Steel," Hui Shiba speculated. "Master once said that where extraordinary treasures exist, in a certain range nearby, there will always be anomalies.
Like beasts guarding them, or peculiar geographic conditions."
"Makes sense." Xiao Feng agreed.
With Hui Shiba's explanation, he couldn't help recalling the time he encountered a giant spider attack when retrieving Flower Vine in the caverns, which might be what is meant by beasts guarding treasures.
"Brother Feng, think quickly, I really can't hold on any longer—my back's about to snap," Hui Er said, looking distressed, with sweat dripping from his forehead.
Xiao Feng comforted him: "Alright, alright, don't worry, let me think..."
A moment later, Xiao Feng's eyes brightened, and he snapped his fingers: "Got it!"
"You came up with a solution that fast?" Lone Wolf said in surprise.
Xiao Feng smiled confidently, picked up the Thunder Pattern Steel, and scooped up some mud, doing so with ease, without any sign of difficulty.
"Brother Feng's brain really works wonders!" Hui Shiba flattered.
Xiao Feng ignored him, continuing to scoop the mud around Hui Er's hands.
Hui Er was no fool; he took the chance to extract his hands, then did the same with his legs, soon freeing himself from the mud.
Xiao Feng handed the Thunder Pattern Steel to Hui Shiba and gestured for him to mimic Xiao's actions to rescue Hui Yi too, while instructing Lone Wolf: "Find something to carry this mud, I have use for it."
"Alright." Lone Wolf agreed and went off to search for something nearby.
After rescuing Hui Yi as well, Xiao Feng said: "Let's get him to the hospital first, and assess the situation from there."
But as soon as he finished speaking, Hui Yi suddenly coughed: "Cough, cough... No, no need to go to the hospital, I'm just a bit dizzy from the shock, I'll be fine after resting for a while."
In Hui Yi's view, hospitalization would definitely be at his own expense, and he'd prefer finding Sun Shijie or Zhao Guo'an.
Furthermore, he hadn't sustained any serious injuries, so it seemed unnecessary to go to the hospital.
"Are you sure?" Xiao Feng looked at Hui Yi, who still had foam at the mouth, to confirm.
Hui Yi nodded vigorously, then unexpectedly drew strength from somewhere, grabbed hold of Xiao Feng's hand, and said with tears in his eyes: "Boss, I was wrong, I was really wrong!"
"You actually know regret?" Xiao Feng exaggeratedly replied, "With someone like you who's trained in Iron Head Skill and is hard-headed beyond comparison, how could you possibly err?"
Tears fell from Hui Yi's eyes: "Boss, I'm sincerely remorseful; I shouldn't have betrayed you intentionally before, I promise, things like that will never happen again."
Xiao Feng glanced at the Thunder Pattern Steel in Hui Shiba's hand, thinking that the shock it delivered hadn't been in vain.
He recalled a past interview with Professor Yang, the Thunder King, where a gaming-addicted teenager had entered full of bravado but cursed at Professor Yang as worthless.
Yet once inside the treatment room, Professor Yang applied his exceptional skills to "treat" him, and upon leaving, the teenager became completely subdued, endlessly apologizing to his parents, revealing the profound mastery of Professor Yang's medical practice.
Currently, Hui Yi resembled a teenager emerging from the treatment room, streaming with tears of regret.
Xiao Feng patted Hui Yi's shoulder, comforting him: "To err and then mend one's ways is virtuous beyond measure; I won't hold these trivial matters against you. If you hadn't brought it up, I would have long forgotten."
"..." Hui Yi.
Do you actually believe what you just said?
At this moment, Lone Wolf returned holding a large woven sack.
The bag appeared somewhat worn, but with the mud being dirty already, there wasn't much concern about cleanliness.
After packing all the mud into the woven sack, everyone headed toward the car.
Luckily for Hui Yi and Hui Er, the mud didn't stick to their bodies; a swipe and it fell off, or else they certainly couldn't have taken the car back.
During the walk back to the car, Hui Shiba appeared noticeably downcast.
Hui Er knowingly asked: "Little Eighteen, what's wrong?"
Hui Shiba whispered: "Second Brother, I went somewhere I shouldn't have."
Just as his words fell, dust suddenly rose from afar, and by the sound of it, several vehicles were approaching this way.
Sure enough, shortly after, three black SUVs came into view, stopping right behind Xiao Feng and his group's car.
It wasn't to provoke confrontation; it was simply that Xiao Feng's car was blocking the stone bridge in the middle, making it impossible for the three other cars to pass.
Moments later, a burly middle-aged man stepped down, yelling loudly: "Who the hell owns this damn car, move it out of the way before I smash it up!"
Lone Wolf's expression changed; he looked at Xiao Feng.
Xiao Feng nodded, signaling him to handle it.
With approval, Lone Wolf quickened his steps, striding over, and raised his voice: "Where'd this stray dog come from, making noise here? Go ahead, try smashing it!"
