The Magnificent Son-in-law
Chapter 647 - 647: No Problem With the Water
Night had fallen, but the estate rented by Bi Quan was still brightly lit.
At this moment, the father and son sat face to face inside the house.
The table was laden with delicious dishes, but neither Bi Quan nor Bi Junxian had the slightest intention to pick up their chopsticks.
Mood and appetite seem like words unrelated, but in reality, they are directly connected.
The same was true for Bi Quan and Bi Junxian; in such a dispirited mood, even if a feast was before them, it would taste like wax.
Just then, Old Lu walked in and said, "Sir, the people have been dispatched."
"Repeat to me what you promised before," Bi Quan said flatly.
Old Lu felt a chill in his heart but didn't dare to hesitate at all, replying, "I assure you, everything's secure!"
"That's good, sit down and eat," Bi Quan nodded in satisfaction, then suddenly as if remembering something, asked, "Hasn't Xie Zhuang returned yet?"
"Not yet."
"Then have someone wait for him at the door. I will not let this matter rest easily. If it turns out that Longyou Tea House is deliberately scamming me, they need to know what kind of person I, Bi Quan, am."
With that, Bi Quan sneered, "As the saying goes, even a dragon cannot suppress a local serpent, but in my eyes, this 'local serpent' Longyou Tea House is no more than a slightly larger snake."
"Yes," Old Lu agreed and went to arrange it.
About twenty minutes later, a black sedan parked in the estate's parking lot.
A man got out of the car and walked into the estate cautiously, looking around like a thief about to steal something.
However, as he took one step into the estate, a man in a suit blocked his way.
Startled, the man said with irritation, "Old Ren, you scared me to death, what are you doing here at night?"
"Brother Zhuang, come with me," he said.
Xie Zhuang frowned, "Change of day if you want to drink, I don't have time today. Move aside quickly, or it'll be trouble if the Boss sees me."
"The Boss told me to wait for you here."
Xie Zhuang's heart sank. He never expected Bi Quan to take this matter so seriously, but he knew there was no way to avoid it now.
Inside, Bi Quan directly asked, "What's the investigation result?"
"Boss, I took the tea leaves to Longyou Tea House. They were adamant there was nothing wrong with the tea. At first, I didn't believe it, but then they brewed a pot right in front of me, and it tasted quite good," Xie Zhuang said with a bitter face.
"Could it be that there's something wrong with the water used for brewing?" Old Lu suggested, "What kind of water did the people at Longyou Tea House use?"
Xie Zhuang replied without hesitation, "Just ordinary purified water."
Bi Quan didn't want to get tangled up in this anymore and sternly asked, "Who's the current boss of Longyou Tea House?"
Old Lu thought for a moment and replied, "It used to be Zhao Fengyun and Zhao Huipeng, the father and son duo. When they ran it, the tea house was called Pengyun. Later, a local tycoon took over and renamed it Longyou, and the boss seems to be called Guo Kaixuan."
"I don't care who he is; I demand a reasonable explanation for this," Bi Quan said coldly.
"Sir, calm down. Let's have Xie Zhuang brew another cup of tea. If the taste is different, that would mean Longyou Tea House is pulling tricks.
This way, we can approach them with evidence.
But if the tea tastes really nice, then it might indeed be a water quality issue."
Bi Quan insisted, "Even if it were a water issue, shouldn't they have informed us of the necessary precautions in advance?"
"Of course, they should," Old Lu said, "But before grabbing this hold on them, it's better to first determine for sure whether the problem lies in the water."
Bi Quan pondered for a moment and instructed, "Brew a cup of tea."
Xie Zhuang left as if pardoned, and before long returned with a cup of tea, using a glass cup and mineral water.
After the tea had cooled down a bit, Old Lu picked it up, not to drink but to smell, instantly detecting a fragrant aroma, completely different from last time.
Yet, Old Lu was still a bit hesitant.
Stinky tofu smells bad but tastes good; could this tea be the opposite, smelling good but tasting bad?
After all, the acidic, mixed with a strange stench tea from last time left such a huge shadow that just thinking about it made him nauseous.
"Taste it, see how it is," Bi Quan urged.
"…" Old Lu.
He blamed himself a little for foolishly picking up the cup.
"Xie Zhuang, you try it," Old Lu pushed the cup towards Xie Zhuang.
Xie Zhuang, less conflicted, took the cup and sipped, showing no significant change in expression.
Unconvinced, Old Lu grabbed the cup back and took a sip, feeling a refreshing aroma unfold over his taste buds and linger in his mouth.
"Gulp!"
As the tea went down, Old Lu felt entirely recharged.
Of course, this was largely because of the "acidic and stench" tea from before, yet, for comparison, the tea was good but not so extraordinarily so.
"Boss, it really is the water problem," Old Lu replied sincerely, "If you don't mind, you might want to taste it yourself."
Bi Quan took a sip, confusion filling his gaze—could it really be that the water was the issue?
"Xie Zhuang, brew another cup with our own water," Bi Quan said angrily, "I've drunk tea for most of my life and know what tea needs what water!"
Xie Zhuang agreed and quickly brought another cup.
Bi Quan tasted it and immediately flew into a rage, "The taste is the same! It's not a water problem. It must be Longyou Tea House playing tricks again!
The first time they gave us bad tea, seeing us coming, they switched to good tea leaves."
"But Boss, we now have no evidence, and Longyou Tea House denies everything. We're at a loss," Old Lu said, frowning.
"Who says we have no evidence?" Bi Quan's gaze shifted to Xie Zhuang, "Didn't you stash some of the tea leaves from before? That is the evidence."
"…" Xie Zhuang.
He never expected that the little bit of tea leaves he had hidden would unwittingly become what Bi Quan considered evidence.
However, that's not the real issue.
The problem is all those leaves were mixed into a big batch and brought to Longyou Tea House, not a leaf was left behind.
If the Boss found out, he surely couldn't bear the consequences.
But how could such a thing be concealed?
At that moment, Xie Zhuang felt both terrified and conflicted, wanting to confess but not daring to, gripped by fear and inner turmoil.
However, at this moment, Bi Junxian said, "Dad, stop looking. There's no problem with the tea leaves, nor the water. The issue is with the teapot."
"The teapot?" Bi Quan looked at him, puzzled, "What's the problem with the teapot?"
Bi Junxian looked pained, "Last night, I poured something into the pot..."
At this point, he seemed unable to continue.
Meanwhile, Old Lu's face turned pale, faintly guessing the answer in his heart.
