The Magnificent Son-in-law

Chapter 1405 - 1405: Lu Lishuang's Luck Off the Charts

"Actually, I'm quite helpless too." Lu Lishuang held her forehead with slender fingers, seemingly quite troubled, and said:

"I also want to be more friendly, but I just can't control my urge to prank them. It's like having a smoking or drinking addiction; if I don't do it, I feel unsettled."

"..." Xiao Feng.

He genuinely couldn't understand why the other could speak of mischief so shamelessly.

But still, the issue had reached a point where it had to be resolved; things couldn't continue like this!

"Don't you have any personal hobbies?" Xiao Feng asked.

"I do." Lu Lishuang replied without hesitation: "Murder and robbery, looting, arson..."

Xiao Feng interrupted: "Any hobbies that are a bit more normal, more mainstream?"

"Like what?"

"Like singing, dancing, playing the piano, playing the violin, painting, calligraphy, things like that."

Lu Lishuang scoffed: "Those things are lowbrow; they don't suit my taste."

Upon hearing this, Xiao Feng couldn't help but twitch his mouth twice.

So murder and robbery, looting are considered highbrow and not lowbrow?

"Hobbies are something that can be cultivated over time. Since you don't like high art, let's try something popular." Xiao Feng said.

Lu Lishuang asked in confusion: "Popular?"

"That's right." Xiao Feng nodded slightly without explaining what 'popular' meant, and simply gestured Lu Lishuang to follow.

Without any hesitation, Lu Lishuang followed Xiao Feng downstairs to the study.

"Wait for me a moment."

Saying that, Xiao Feng turned and walked out of the study.

Lu Lishuang shrugged and cast her eyes around the study.

A sample bookshelf, writing desk, sofa, a bed, and a mahjong table — that's about all the furniture.

"Kachak!"

The door closed, and Lu Lishuang's expression suddenly changed. Her powdered fists clenched, her teeth lightly bit her lip, as if recalling something embarrassing or shameful.

Taking a deep breath, she exerted all her effort to adjust her mood. Her blush gradually faded, and her expression returned to normal.

Lu Lishuang lowered her eyes, saying to herself: "People with no weaknesses are impossible to exist in this world.

So, feigning weaknesses to hide true weaknesses is actually quite necessary…"

Before long, Xiao Feng returned with three old comrades, including Lao Ha, Lone Wolf, and Lv Ziming.

Lao Ha adjusted his hat brim and said to Lu Lishuang: "The boss let us three accompany you for a mahjong game."

"Not interested." Lu Lishuang pouted: "Besides, I don't know how to play mahjong."

Lone Wolf laughed: "If you don't know, we can teach you. Mahjong is boring when played dry, but if you're winning money, it's a whole different story."

Lv Ziming, being more practical, directly introduced the rules to Lu Lishuang, explaining nearly all of the winning strategies in mahjong.

After the rules were introduced, the four sat down at the mahjong table.

Lao Ha seemed particularly excited; this mahjong table was his purchase. In his spare time, he would find people to play a few rounds. This was considered his greatest hobby.

However, afraid that Xiao Feng would misunderstand his gambling habit, he usually played sparingly and very moderately.

This time though, he was 'playing under orders,' which made Lao Ha extremely thrilled.

He was determined to showcase his mahjong skills in front of the boss.

The button was pressed, and the mahjong tiles were automatically washed, followed by dice rolling and tile drawing.

"Beautiful, beautiful!" Lao Ha rubbed his hands, his face blooming like a chrysanthemum, wrinkles smiling out.

He looked at Xiao Feng and said: "Boss, look at my tiles; if I don't win, it's simply unjust!"

Xiao Feng walked to his side, took a glance, and found that, just as Lao Ha said, he only needed to discard one tile to listen.

"Discard the South, to avoid losing money!" Lao Ha said cheerfully, tossing a south wind tile onto the table.

Lone Wolf, seated next after him, called out "No need," and reached to draw a tile.

However, just before he could, Lu Lishuang stopped him: "Wait a moment!"

"Are you melding or konging?" Lone Wolf asked.

Lu Lishuang slowly shook her head: "Neither melding nor konging."

Lone Wolf looked at Lao Ha and Lv Ziming respectively, his brow slightly furrowed.

Neither melding nor konging, so why did you call for a pause?

However, the three didn't say anything, having to consider accommodating a novice.

Unexpectedly, Lu Lishuang pressed both ends of her mahjong tiles, revealing them, then took the south wind Lao Ha discarded into her own tiles: "According to the rules you just explained to me, it seems I've won."

"..."

For a moment, Lao Ha and the others looked at each other, as if a crow was flying overhead, making an unpleasant caw.

After confirming Lu Lishuang truly won, the four moved their tiles into the hole in the center.

Lv Ziming leaned over to Lao Ha and whispered: "Is this your doing?"

Lao Ha sighed inwardly, helplessly saying: "She's a beginner, after all; beginners tend to have good luck, like people who rarely play the lottery suddenly winning a prize."

The tiles were quickly shuffled, following the rule that the winner becomes the dealer.

Thus, the dealer's role, and the privilege of rolling the dice first, naturally shifted to Lu Lishuang.

Lu Lishuang, however, didn't rush to roll but looked at Lao Ha: "You lost to me, haven't paid me yet."

"Uh... I forgot, forgot. Once you're older, your memory isn't as good; sorry!"

Lao Ha chuckled sheepishly, pulling a one hundred note from his pocket and placing it in front of Lu Lishuang.

"Not enough." Lu Lishuang said calmly.

"Hmm?" Lao Ha furrowed his brow: "One hundred for a cannon, that was already settled."

"Yes, one hundred for a cannon is correct. But you were the dealer, and as you said, dealer wins or loses doubles, so one hundred doubled means you owe me another hundred."

"Lao Ha, don't be stingy; quickly give another hundred, let's continue playing." Lone Wolf urged.

Lao Ha hesitated for a while but eventually pulled out another hundred and placed it in front of Lu Lishuang.

As the second round began, Xiao Feng walked to Lu Lishuang's back and glanced at her tiles.

Objectively speaking, her hand was far from great, but not completely hopeless either.

Unexpectedly, within a round, Lu Lishuang relied solely on drawing to get close to winning.

Xiao Feng circled the mahjong table, checking each of Lao Ha's, Lone Wolf's, and Lv Ziming's hands. None were remotely close to winning, not even listening.

This left him amazed, as Lu Lishuang had such good luck?

Just as he thought that, Lone Wolf picked up a tile Lu Lishuang needed, ready to discard it.

"Cough cough cough cough cough..." Xiao Feng began coughing violently, interrupting Lone Wolf's action.
