The Magnificent Son-in-law

Chapter 1244 - 1244: Bring Me My Knife

After eating three bowls of noodles, the old man burped contentedly, then thanked Lin Bingqiao profusely.

Xiao Feng watched impatiently and casually asked, "Old brother, how come at your age you can't even afford a meal?"

He was now almost certain that this old man, whose acting skills could rival the top young actors, was here for Lin Bingqiao.

The reason was simple; with his current face, he was neither Xiao Feng nor Xiao Bajia, but rather a new visage that had never appeared before, making it unlikely he'd be specifically targeted.

The fact that the other party stayed wasn't just to eat a few free bowls of noodles.

The old man's face turned gloomy as he took a deep breath, followed by a long sigh: "Alas... burp..."

"..." Xiao Feng.

"..." Lin Bingqiao.

The "burp" suddenly dispelled any sense of melancholy.

In his heart, Xiao Feng quietly deducted points from the old man's already poor performance.

The old man smiled awkwardly and said, "I actually have a son, but unfortunately he's unfilial and kicked me out of the house."

Lin Bingqiao's lip twitched twice, and her face turned odd.

What was going on today? In less than two hours, she met two expelled elders; what tiny odds would it take to encounter such a situation?

No way!

Is such a coincidence really just a coincidence?

As she hesitated, Xiao Feng asked, "What were you kicked out for, old brother?"

"It's nothing major, just that I peeked at his wife bathing... oh no, when walking past the bathroom, I glanced inside, and my son went ballistic.

Not only did he curse my lack of respect, but he also beat me up and kicked me out."

Lin Bingqiao was astounded; by that explanation, being kicked out seemed not unjust at all!

At that moment, the old man bent down, grabbed his cloth bag, and approached Lin Bingqiao, saying, "Girl, you're the kindest person I've met in six months.

As thanks, I've decided to give you my son's stolen family heirloom. Wait a moment."

He then reached into his bag, searching around.

Lin Bingqiao's eyes widened in amazement at the sight!

Stolen... stolen family heirloom?

And just then, the old man quickly pulled his hand out of the bag.

Lin Bingqiao's gaze sharpened as she realized the family heirloom was... a glimmering dagger!

Instantly, a sense of danger enveloped her.

Realizing something was amiss, Lin Bingqiao immediately retreated, but it seemed too late.

She couldn't dodge that stab!

Xiao Feng stood up leisurely, without a hint of panic on his face, ready to save her from the dagger.

However, before he could act, Lin Bingqiao flipped her wrist, with her left hand tapping her right wrist...

Almost simultaneously, the old man screamed miserably, clutching his left ear and retreating three steps.

Xiao Feng paused, then remembered Lin Bingqiao was a fierce person with needles hidden at her palm!

Though simple-minded, she was not naïve.

With this in mind, Xiao Feng made space and moved a bit farther, intending to watch the show.

To show off his "veteran actor" dedication, Xiao Feng even pretended to be panic-stricken and shouted, "There's been a murder!"

"Damn it! I'll kill you!" the old man roared, his face twisted and terrifying, with three blood streaks appearing on his ear.

It was clear that Lin Bingqiao didn't want to engage in a prolonged fight.

Using her "Hand Needle" to escape an attack, she turned and sprinted towards the road.

The old man seemed to think he couldn't catch up or that chasing someone with a knife on the street was excessively brazen; he stopped after not pursuing far, looking back at the only remaining onlooker—Xiao Feng.

"Run again, and I'll kill this old thing!"

Shouting at Lin Bingqiao's back, the old man turned and charged at Xiao Feng.

Xiao Feng felt a bit aggrieved; why did they have to drag him into their mess?

Also!

Calling someone an old thing; are you freaking young yourself?

However, out of an actor's self-respect, Xiao Feng still appeared terrified as the old man took him hostage.

His expression, actions, and gaze—all perfect!

Lin Bingqiao, who had run far away, slowed down upon hearing this, glancing back at the two old men, her face turning somewhat unsightly.

Where's that promised martial arts master?

And now someone's held hostage?

After hesitating for a long time, she decided to walk back until she was about twenty meters from the old man, and stopped coldly: "We have no grievances, why try to kill me?"

"We indeed have no grievances, but taking money to solve woes for others leaves you unlucky."

"So, are you acting on someone's orders?"

Xiao Feng was already extremely displeased with the knife at his throat and annoyed at this conversation's uselessness, so he interjected:

"Girl, the little thing behind me is certainly acting on someone's orders.

You should be considering, not who hired him, but how to solve this issue.

Moreover, don't bother asking whose orders he's following; he won't reveal it, especially not in this situation."

Lin Bingqiao nodded complexly, acknowledging Xiao Feng's remarks.

But the old man was incensed, shouting, "Who the heck are you calling little thing?"

"You just called me old thing, suggesting you're younger than me, so calling you old thing doesn't fit.

Considering you're younger, I have to call you little thing."

"You're freaking suicidal!" the old man barked, pressing the dagger down.

At this moment, the noodle shop boss poked his head out from the curtain, wanting first to have the outside table pay up to avoid an unpaid bill.

Yet, seeing the empty table enraged him instantly!

As he was about to curse, he noticed the three figures on the street.

Two old men holding each other, quite inti...mate...

No way!

That stance... and the thing that the old man outside was holding.

A hostage situation?!

Instantly angered, the noodle shop boss, seeing such happening late at night in broad daylight, couldn't tolerate it?

"Bring me my knife!" the boss shouted to the cook in the back kitchen preparing noodles.

"Boss, what's this about?"

"No chatter, just get it!"

With no choice, the cook took the knife hanging on the wall meant for slicing ribs and handed it over.

The boss turned around with the knife, finding the three tables of guests standing, looking at him in horror.

Reflecting on the tone he asked for the knife, the boss realized he must have been misunderstood and quickly apologized with a smile, "Sorry, take your time eating, everyone."

Yet under these circumstances, who dared continue dining.

Thus, the three tables hastily paid and left.

The boss became even more annoyed; though the tables paid, this was a one-time deal, and they surely wouldn't return.

Moreover, the three tables not returning was minor; but if they spread word that dining here was dangerous, wouldn't that cut off the money stream?
