"But they what?" the 2nd Heir rushed him.

"But they had a mating session that resolved their heat, soothing their pain, stabilizing their forms, and enhancing their strength." The physician shifted uneasily.

The grand hall fell into a suffocating silence.

A mate?

They had a mate?

How is this possible?

Luna clenched her fist. She had almost driven them away, but everything was messed up now that they had a chance.

Her grave voice shattered the silence. "That was a great event. Why didn’t you mention it before, Axe? We all want to see your mate. Who was she?"

Axe gave the physician a stern look, then replied calmly, "It was just an accident, and we ended up in bed. There is no bond between us."

"So, your wolf didn’t awaken?" The Alpha’s voice resounded.

"No, My Lord." Axe lowered his head.

The people around scoffed at them.

Some even voiced out their disdain, "What were we even expecting? A defect is still a defect; no miracle happens in real life."

"Where is she?" the Alpha asked.

The brothers were silent for a brief moment, then Axe lifted his eyes. "I will take her here."

The Alpha lifted his chin to go ahead. Axe stood up and looked at his brothers before going out.

That’s how Moon ended up holding a maid uniform. He was utterly devastated.

He was a Mage, although an outcast, but still, he had the pride of a Mage, at least to an outsider.

He refused to wear the dress.

Axe pinched Moon’s chin in his palm, his deep voice resonated in Moon’s ear, "You infiltrated this manor yesterday and still have demands? How are you going to explain your existence here? Be quick and just pretend to be a new maid here."

He let go of him and sat on the bed, clutching his hair.

"Seriously, who are you? Don’t tell me you are a witch. We will all die today for entangling with you, you know?"

Moon’s hand stilled on the black skirt. He looked up in surprise. "What is a witch? A dark magic?"

Axe stared at him intently. He stood up and helped Moon put on the shirt.

"Don’t pretend you know nothing, just confess to me. Maybe I can help you, or else don’t even think about escaping death."

Moon flinched. He just escaped one death, now another one is hanging over him?

He called the Moon Goddess in his mind.

’Goddess, there is a witch here? Why do they think I am a witch? Will they kill me?’

[Witches are powerful; they can use magic, though not like you, but in their eyes, your energy and attractive scent are similar to witches’ magic and hallucinatory potion.]

’Why didn’t you warn me sooner? I should have hidden my spiritual energy,’ Moon screamed in his head.

[Child, did you forget? This is your life, I am just granting you a wish, but your life still depends on how you lead it.] The goddess consoled.

Her words slapped Moon awake from his delusion. Yes, this life was his, and he needed to lead it. But the problem is, he knew nothing of this world.

He hardened his heart and wore the full dress, tied his hair in a fluid motion. When he lifted his eyes, Axe’s intense gaze clashed with his.

’Fuck! Don’t tell me Alphas can be passionate, even in the dying moment.’ He thought.

Axe held his hand and went out of the room; two guards were waiting outside to lead.

Suddenly, Moon heard a voice inside his mind.

"Just tell them you are a new maid. Still haven’t gotten a slave mark."

Moon looked in Axe’s direction, who was so calm as if nobody were speaking to him.

He tried to connect the tug in his soul; he just felt it.

"What is a slave mark?"

"You don’t know? Who are you?"

"I don’t know, really, and I am not a witch, don’t worry."

"How did you end up in the pool?"

"Transported, but not from any witch clan, rest assured."

Axe scoffed.

"Then why did you come here?"

"Random transportation," Moon answered when thinking, so, in this world, transportation arrays or talismans work?

"Your word is very untrustworthy; you know that?"

"I know, I am Moon."

Axe’s pace halted suddenly. He stared at Moon, his gaze darkening, but since the guard was watching, he controlled his rage.

"Are you kidding me? Moon? You think you can just make up a name that lame?"

Moon was bewildered. What was wrong with Moon’s name? It was his birth name granted by his Mother.

"What’s wrong with my name? Do you think your name is any good? Axe? Heh!" He taunted Axe.

"Good, keep up the spirit, we are almost there, don’t piss in your skirt later." Axe bared his teeth as he grinned.

Moon felt that smile set his skin crawling.

As they were in the last corridor approaching the grand hall, Axe became serious.

"We can’t send voice in front of Alpha. He is very powerful. He can trace the pack mark. I can only talk for our last night temporary marking, and we are close, remember you were a maid, just got here, we have nothing to do with you."

’What? What do you mean, nothing to do with me?’

Before Moon could finish, they reached the door, and Axe had already breached the threshold.

Moon’s body froze on the spot, he had a bad feeling.

The guards pushed him hard and shoved him inside the hall.

The moment his knee thudded on the floor, the pain made him flinch.

He felt the eerily silent air, and a dangerous killing intent swept past him.

He looked in the direction, and some aristocrats stood on the front left and right sides. They looked like very elite, powerful people, just like his brothers in his cultivation world.

The killing intent was coming from them.

His gaze collided squarely with them as they stared at him.

Some were surprised, some were hateful, some were just holding pure disgust.

The Alpha’s deep voice resonated in the air, "You don’t have a pack mark."

His words stifled the room’s energy. The Elders who had come to decide the fate of the defective heirs knitted their brows.

The Beta beside the Alpha came forward; his judging gaze sent a chill running down Moon’s spine.

"You aren’t one of us. You don’t have any marks." He suddenly pulled his collar down.

Leo instantly flared up and slapped the beta’s hand.

His eyes were flickering with a red glint.

"You can’t just touch our mate." His voice was raspy with suppressed anger.

Axe rubbed his forehead and shook his head in exasperation. He signaled not to say anything, but Leo was always impulsive.

The Alpha’s face darkened.

A beta member rebuked with a cold voice, "How dare you hit a beta? Did you forget you are no longer an Alpha Heir?"

Another member grumbled, "A lowly Omega, keeping you in the pack was already Alpha’s great consideration."

Nox shifted uneasily, his eyes blurred. Just yesterday, these people had to bow to them; now, they were pointing fingers at them. Strength and power can change everything.

The beta didn’t take the slap seriously. He looked straight at Leo and said every word clearly,

"She is your mate? How? Did you have any bond? Where is her mark?"

Moon trembled at their all-grumbling and vibrating voice, and the atmosphere felt chillier than in his previous life.

Still, he said slowly, deliberately shuffling to match his maid’s identity, "I- I am a new maid, I am yet to get the mark."

"Oh? So, who hired you? Take you inside?"

Moon stumbled in his words; he didn’t prepare this answer at all!

He looked at the silent brothers, who had no intention of talking for him.

He felt utterly cheated, used, and frustrated, "I don’t know them, I just came here yesterday and was cleaning Alpha heir’s room." He mumbled.

The beta didn’t ask anything more. He just smiled, then turned to the Alpha and announced loudly,

"This girl is a human, my lord may punish them accordingly for breaching the rules for taking a human inside and mating with her."

At this moment, the Rio’s cold voice echoed from the side.

"She broke into our room, or someone sent her; it has nothing to do with us. We were in an awakening ceremony with the others yesterday."

He paused, didn’t even look at Moon’s shocked eyes, and continued with utmost coldness,

"You should know we were in no state for judging who we were mating."

The grand hall erupted in laughter and chatter again.

Moon’s stomach dropped. He didn’t expect this damn Alpha would sell him out to save themselves.

What should he do now?

"Since she could soothe the defective heirs, she must have used some potion or enchanting runes. She must be a witch."

At this moment, the Luna’s sharp voice weighed down the atmosphere.
