The Mage's 5 Fated Alphas (BL)
Chapter 145: A War Wolf Awakening.
Sweat dripped from his forehead.
Something was definitely wrong with him.
Moon’s heart wavered.
Then a hand pressed on his back again.
"Relax. He is alright. Draw your soul force and try to merge."
Moon relaxed upon hearing the voice. He had almost forgotten he needed to take this pressure and merge.
As soon as he tried merging with others, a flash of scenes crossed his consciousness. That was not his.
A little boy with Iron claws running through the forest and howling like a wolf.
"Awooooo!"
And the boy who clung to a big boar, fighting like he was some warlord. Yet only to be trampled. Yet again he fights back.
A cold woman sitting inside a luxury chamber, pulling out his nails as he screamed.
And a young man running through a battlefield, holding the reins like he owns the world.
A young man swam past a dark tunnel.
The scenes flashed by in just a second, one by one.
Meanwhile, Axe’s soul force rushed in like a wild tide.
Rough and cruel.
But that was not the source of his pain.
Something inside him was breaking.
He could not tell what, but he felt like he was breaking apart.
Something deep inside him was roaring and hammering his ribs, in his heart and soul.
He felt like a trapped beast.
He wanted to let it free but could not.
And a sudden pull was trying to drag his beast spirit out into the open, yet he could not get it out.
Axe knew what it was.
His wolf spirit.
His trapped wolf spirit.
He could feel it.
After this long time, he finally could feel it.
He should be happy that he felt his spirit. His soul and his wolf. Yet he could not let it out.
Lupine stood up worriedly.
Even Ghost Master stood up.
Suddenly Axe opened his eyes. His gray pupils dilated and glowed with golden light.
Nox and Ugo clenched their fists. They also stood up but did not interrupt.
This...
Wasn’t it like his wolf was awakening?
Just then the scroll trembled, and Moon bit his lips hard. He forced out his soul energy and wrapped it around Axe entirely.
The scroll rolled almost to the full.
Just a bit more and the seal would be done.
Then a burst of energy spread rapidly through the Lost Realm. Full of wolf blood and battle intent.
Moon’s own soul force rose to meet it.
The two forces collided once, then slowly twisted together inside the scroll.
Axe’s jaw tightened.
A suppressed low growl escaped his throat.
A long howl pierced through the air.
"AWOOOOOOOOOO!"
At the same time, a big phantom of a strikingly powerful war wolf suddenly burst through his back and hung in the air for just a breath.
Its silver and gray fur billowed in the void.
The pressure sent a shockwave throughout the forest and mountains.
Its gray eyes flickered with a golden glow as it looked straight at Moon. But that was just a moment.
Not even enough time to drop an eyelash once.
Then it vanished into the air, and the scroll sealed and dispersed with it.
Axe coughed up blood and dropped to the seat. Soon he lost consciousness.
Moon’s stomach dropped.
His heart went cold as he hurriedly came to Axe’s side.
He himself was almost spent, and his hands were shaking hard.
"He is alright," Lupine said, still surprised by what he saw.
He had never thought Axe’s wolf spirit would be something even more powerful than his own soul.
He was a pure divine wolf. He never took this mixed blood seriously.
But for a breath, even his soul trembled when the spirit rose high for just a moment.
’No wonder,’ he thought.
’No wonder Mooney* put so much hope in them!’
His eyes flickered between Moon and Axe.
’And this fella just bonded with this destructive spirit! He has guts. No wonder!’ Lupine was thinking silently.
So was Ghost Master.
They were pure wolves, so they could feel the full pressure that others could not.
Ugo and Nox could still feel it.
They were not shocked. They were ecstatic. They knew their chance had really come.
If they knew a soul contract could force their spirit to show up even once, they would have done it earlier.
But looking at Moon’s shaking hands, they exchanged a look and decided not to hurry.
They needed to make preparations.
They let Axe sit there for a while.
The sun was slowly rising, and night was almost gone.
"Let’s take a break. And make the contracts one by one each day. It will be too much for you at once," Xiao Hong suggested to Moon.
Moon thought for a moment. The full moon was approaching. If this could really trigger their awakening, he didn’t want to wait.
After all, his life was entangled with their awakening.
If he succeeded, his initial task for the Moon Goddess would be done.
And he could rest well.
"I will continue," he said slowly.
"What?" almost all the people screamed at once, except Bane.
"I can still contract, just after a little rest," Moon said, scratching the nape of his neck.
"No." Ugo refused.
"We are not in a hurry. Let’s rest first for a few days," Nox said, nodding.
"Are you afraid?" Moon raised his brows.
"No! Why would I be afraid? Aren’t you tired? Your soul force is depleted," Nox said aggrievedly. What was with accusing him of cowardice?
He was worried, okay?
After some arguing back and forth, they all still pushed Moon inside the cave to rest.
Then Ugo shifted Axe to the bed.
Nox went to deal with the Malong City courtyard.
.
.
Nox’s POV
He sneaked out from the gorge’s underwater exit.
It was still guarded, but from above, people couldn’t see underneath.
So this path was still safe. And no one wanted to dive in and find any hidden way. If they fell in the water, they would surely die.
Even Shadow Lord would not do something they were not sure about.
Nox went out almost without any hassle.
And made sure to erase his traces in the alpine forest.
His plan was simple.
