The Mafia Lord Forgotten Bride

Chapter 16: Not his Wife

  • Next Chapter

"Miss Amie never lived with us during those five years."

The room fell silent. Even a pin drop could be heard. The loud breathing sound the soldier heard was definitely heared.

Rauf’s hand tightened in a fist.

"Then which other woman lived with us."

The guard looked like a rat drenched in water. "No one apart from Miss June." He said.

Sweat poured down his body.

Rauf stared at him, but he was barely paying attention to the guard before him.

Though he couldn’t see them but he could felt. He remembered the hand that usually carressed him. The hand that had fed him before he started trying to eat by himself.

The woman who had insisted he didn’t need a caregiver. She was there to dedicate every of her hour to him.

"Then who prepared the meal I eat."

The guard sank lower. "Miss June, sir. She always insisted the maids can’t prepare it the way you wanted and because of that, she was always busy in the kitchen, preparing your food. Sometimes, she gives to the staff too."

Rauf nodded, but as if on monotone, he continued. "Who read to me?"

"Miss June, sir. The both of you usually stay by the poolside with refreshment while she reads to you."

The more questions he answered, the more Rauf tightened his fist.

"Who took care of me? Apart from her, do some sort of caregiver come in."

Rauf already knew the answer, but he was still in the denial. He knew exactly what the guard would say even before he opened his mouth. "It was Miss June, ma. No one was allowed to enter the mansion except for your mother and sometimes the doctor to check on your health."

Slowly, Rauf stood up from his chair.

Everything was June.

Everything pointed at June.

It was no wonder Amie remained nothing but a stranger to him.

He turned to the guard, throwing his final question at him. "Then why didn’t anyone tell me my wife was June and not Amie."

The guards looked like he could piss on his body. He remained quiet, but as Henson moved closer again, he spoke.

"We were asked not to mention anything about Miss June in your presence."

Rauf felt his right eyes twitched. "Who said that? Was it Amie?"

The guard shook his head.

There was no point hiding from him anymore, he already knows every important thing. "Your mother, sir."

The silence that a complained that confusion was louder. It was so loud that Rauf could hear his heart breaking beneath.

His mother.

Why would she do that to him?

He trusted his mother above anyone else in the world, so why would she decide to pull his world apart?

He moved away from the guard, giving Henson the signal to release him.

The guard had taken the courage to confess, so he didn’t need to be punished beyond that.

June had done all that for him, and what had be done in return.

He remembered her pleading. Her tears. Her asking him to believe her. And whatever was in the paper she had thrust to him.

After every promise he had made to her. All he gave her was tears.

Slowly, he left the basement. He couldn’t even drive himself back home because of the anger radiating from him.

Colin acted as the driver, as he dropped in the the mansion.

As soon as Rauf stepped into the house, it was laughter that filled his ears.

His mother and the woman he had thought was his wife were seated together as if they hadn’t planned to destroy his world.

Immediately, Amie saw him. She came towards him with a hug.

Rauf allowed it.

He didn’t push her away or acted like he knew anything.

If she could join hand with his mother and that snake, Samir, then they were capable of doing something to June.

He needed to continue pretending as if he had no idea she wasn’t really his wife.

Well, at least until he found his real wife.

"Are you hungry?" Amie said with a coy voice. The sort of voice she thought would make a man wet for her.

Now that she had all the information June had told her, there was no way Rauf would guess she had been missing in his life for five years.

The thought of her horrible food already made Rauf sick. "No. I’m fine. I had a lot to do at work today."

His mother perked up at that. "Come on, dear. You should stop waking more and start paying more attention to your wife." She pointed at Amie as if she was some gold she didn’t want him to kiss out on. "It’s being five years of marriage. It’s time to start having children. Don’t you want to have heirs?"

With this woman? Rauf thought. Never.

Even if she was lying dead right in front of him, he wouldn’t touch her with a pole.

"Huh, dear? You need a heir to inherit your empire."

Rauf nodded. "Of course, mother. We’re working on it."

Amie also nodded, planting herself right beside Rauf. "Mother, soon you’ll see your grandchild. We’re working on it like Rauf said."

That seemed to bring a smile to his mother lips.

Now that Rauf thought about it, whenever his mother come over, she was always talking about getting pregnant and producing a heir.

Was this their plan?

To tie him down with some kind of pregnancy, and thinking he wouldn’t divorce her and have no choice but to forgive her once he found out.

They were joking.

"Why are you smiling?" Amie asked.

Rauf shook his head. "I’m just thinking of how beautiful our daughter together will be, especially if she takes after you."

Amie was practically bursting in joy.

Was it what she was thinking.

Was he finally thinking of taking that step with her?

Rauf excused himself from their presence. Their laughter carried on in the house as his face set into a frown.

They sent away the woman he loved, only for them to be here laughing like the house belonged to them.

He shut himself in his room. Closed his eyes. And think up memories that reminded him of the woman he missed.

Meanwhile Rauf mother smile stopped as soon as he left the room.

And Amie sat with a frown. "Mother, if anyone could see now, they would think we have been intimate. Ever since Rauf got discharged front the hospital, he wouldn’t touch me."

His mother blinked in disbelief. "I didn’t believe you, and that was why I came here. Everyone knows just how much Rauf loves you. He had always had a crush on you ever since he was young. There’s no way he would ignore your body."

Amie huffed. "But, he did."

And she hated it.

She had always had an active sex life and now because of him, she hadn’t done anything in weeks.

"Well, I prepared something to help you both. If Rauf refused to touch you again. You can give him this." She pulled a small bottle from her bag. "I just need to see my grandchildren, soon."

Glad that things would finally work out the way she wanted, Amie held the glass tight.

She looked around to see if any of the staff saw them. But they knew how to make themselves scarce whenever Rauf’s mother was around.

"Thank you, mother."

She smiled. "You’re the only daughter in law I approved of." Then she hugged her tight. "Then goodbye."

Once she was gone, Amie took the bottle to her room and hide it well.

It was going to be the last minute plan, but now she still had June’s information to rely on. When Rauf realize she was the one he had lived with for five years, he would be so ashamed of himself that he would ask her for apology, Amie thought of that with a smile.

Then she changed into the sexiest lingerie she had. It had cost her a lot, but it was worth it. If only it would make Rauf looked at her the way she wanted.

She wore a bigger Robe on it and walked out of the room towards Rauf’s room.

Without knocking, she opened the door to see Rauf’s eyes were closed.

She smiled.

He was asleep.

It would only make things easier for her.

She moved closer to his bed and shrugged off her robe, remaining in the lingerie, then she touched Rauf’s chin.

His hand shot up to hold her, as his eyes opened and his sharp gaze pinned her to where she was.

Amie chocked.

"What are you doing here?"

She blinked the way she usually does. "Just wanted to surprise my husband."

Rauf continued staring at her blankly. "I hate surprises."

Amie blinked I’m confusion. "Yeah, I know. But, I just thought to cheer up your mood."

"But, I have something else that you’ll like."

Bored, Rauf asked. "What?"

Amie almost grinned. It was time she unleashed that secret weapon June had told her.

She settled herself on the bed beside Rauf, then cracked her fingers as if to get herself in action.

Then suddenly, she lunges at Rauf, tickling both of his side.

Rauf remained immobile. He stared at her as if she was insane.

He remembered he had clearly told his wife he hated to be tickled.

What was the purpose of a forced laugh, if he couldn’t let out a genuine laughter.

Seeing that Amie was staring at her, a frown was starting to settled in her face.

Rauf cursed inwardly. He couldn’t let her know, he already know she was a fake.

Then he forced himself to laugh. It was the most uncomfortable laughter in his life.

But with everything happening, he had just one thought in mind.

He needed to find his wife.
