Morning light crept through the thinning frost barrier in pale, watery shafts.

Arthur woke first. Seraphina lay half on top of him, silver hair spilled across his chest, one bare leg tangled with his.

The torn remnants of her white-and-gold robes served as the only bedding. In sleep the arrogant set of her face had softened.

She looked younger. Almost approachable.

The Eros Codex pulsed once against his side, warm and insistent.

He knew what that meant.

Seraphina stirred. Golden eyes opened, unfocused for a second, then sharpened as memory returned.

She did not pull away immediately. That alone said more than any confession.

"You are still here," she murmured.

"Observant."

She made a quiet, offended sound and pushed herself up on one elbow. The movement dragged her bare skin across his.

Both of them felt it. Heat flickered back to life without permission. Seraphina’s gaze dropped to his mouth, then lower, then back up.

Pride warred with the evidence of the night still sticky on her thighs.

"This was supposed to be a moment of weakness," she said.

"It can be another one."

She stared at him. Then she swung a leg over his hips and sank down onto his cock in one slow, deliberate motion.

Both of them exhaled hard.

There was no frantic anger left. No desperate clash of dominance.

Seraphina braced her hands on his chest and began to move with focused, rolling hips, taking him deep on every stroke.

Morning light caught the faint glow under her skin. Residual holy mana sparked wherever their bodies met, reacting to the growing intensity.

Arthur gripped her waist and met her rhythm. The wet sound of their joining filled the small cave. Seraphina’s breathing turned uneven.

She leaned forward, silver hair forming a curtain around their faces, and kissed him—slower than the night before, but no less hungry.

"You are still insufferable," she panted against his mouth.

"And you are still riding me."

She bit his lower lip in retaliation and started moving harder.

The Codex grew hotter against his ribs. Arthur felt the familiar pressure of a high-tier print beginning to form—deeper and denser than anything Frost Sovereign or Dreamweaver had required.

Seraphina’s mana was vast, structured, ancient in a way that pressed against the edges of his awareness like sunlight through stained glass.

He sat up, wrapped both arms around her, and thrust upward. Seraphina cried out, head falling back. Her breasts bounced with every impact. The golden light in her eyes flared brighter.

"Arthur—"

"I know."

The print resonance peaked.

Seraphina’s back arched as a second climax tore through her.

Her inner walls clamped down hard, pulsing around him in strong waves. The surge of her release carried something far larger than simple pleasure.

Raw Tier 9 structure flooded the connection—holy law, purifying radiance, absolute authority over light and judgment. The Eros Codex drank it greedily.

Arthur groaned and followed her over the edge, burying himself deep and spilling inside her while the black book against his side burned like a brand.

Text etched itself across a previously empty page in clean, decisive lines of gold-tinged script.

[ABILITY ACQUIRED: AEGIS OF THE MORNING STAR]

[SOURCE: SERAPHINA, SAINTESS-ELECT]

[TIER: 9]

[MASTERY: 28%]

[DURATION: PERMANENT]

[SLOT 4/7 FILLED]

The pressure in his pathways settled with a final, resonant click.

Seraphina collapsed forward against his chest, trembling. For a long moment the only sound was their ragged breathing and the soft drip of meltwater from the weakening ice wall.

She lifted her head slowly.

"What did you just do?"

Arthur met her glowing eyes. There was no point lying. Not after this.

"My Grimoire copies. Permanently, under the right conditions. You just became my third."

Silence stretched.

Seraphina’s expression cycled through shock, outrage, calculation, and something more complicated underneath. She did not pull off him. That fact was not lost on either of them.

"You stole from me," she said. The words lacked their usual divine venom.

"I printed what the bond made available. There’s a difference."

She stared at him for another long second. Then she exhaled and rested her forehead against his.

"If the Church ever learns of this, they will declare you anathema and hunt you to the ends of the continent."

"Then we make sure they do not learn of it."

Seraphina was quiet. Her fingers traced an idle line across his collarbone, almost unconsciously.

"This changes the arrangement," she said at last. "I will not pretend last night—and this morning—did not happen. But in public I am still the Saintess-Elect. You are still the specialist who extracted me from Equinox. Nothing more."

"Agreed."

"And if you ever use my own power against the Church—"

"I won’t."

She studied his face, searching for deception. Whatever she found there seemed to satisfy her enough.

She lifted off him with a soft, oversensitive sound and began gathering the ruined pieces of her robes.

The ceremonial silk was beyond repair. Arthur handed her the heavy grey cloak without comment.

She took it and wrapped it around herself, covering the evidence of the night.

They dismantled the frost barrier together.

Cold canyon air rushed in. The tracking beasts were long gone. In the distance the first haze of the Beastkin capital stained the horizon.

The walk back was different.

They did not bicker with the same sharp hostility. The silence between them had weight now—shared heat, shared secrets, and the quiet awareness of a permanent bond neither had planned for.

When the terrain grew steep Arthur offered a hand without speaking. Seraphina hesitated, then took it.

Her palm was warm. She did not let go immediately when the path leveled.

By midday the outer watchtowers of the capital came into view.

Seraphina paused at the final ridge and looked down at the sprawling city. The grey cloak hid her silver hair and ruined finery. From a distance she could have been any traveler.

"When we enter the gates I will contact the Church’s local representatives," she said. "They will want a full report. You will be compensated for the extraction and the escort. After that..."

"After that we pretend the cave did not happen."

She glanced at him sideways. The golden light in her eyes was softer than it had been in the canyon.

"We pretend in public," she corrected quietly. "Do not assume that means I will ignore the bond entirely. You carry a piece of my Grimoire now. That makes you my responsibility. And my problem."

Arthur almost smiled.

"I can live with being your problem, Your Holiness."

Seraphina’s mouth tightened, but the expression lacked real heat. She pulled the hood of the cloak lower and started down the final slope toward the city.

Arthur followed.

The Eros Codex rested against his ribs, third permanent seal warm and stable beside Frost Sovereign and Dreamweaver.

Aegis of the Morning Star sat at twenty-eight percent mastery—already vast, already waiting to be refined.

Behind them the Whispering Canyons kept their secrets.

Ahead, the Beastkin capital and the next phase of the mission waited.

And somewhere between the two of them, a complicated, fiercely guarded connection had taken root in the dark of a forgotten cave—one neither the Church nor Equinox could be allowed to see.
