The Luna You Betrayed Is No Longer Yours
Chapter 242 Cruel Plan
Chapter 242: Chapter 242 Cruel Plan
_Brielle’s POV_
The door clicked shut as Rowena walked out, leaving me alone in the room. I picked up my glass of milk from the side table, taking a slow sip as a triumphant smirk spread across my face.
Rowena’s problem was that she thought she was so clever with her looks and calm attitude. She thought they were all she needed in life, too bad.
But no matter how hard Rowena actually tried to act unbothered, I could always see that tiny flicker of panic in her eyes each time I struck a nerve with my words.
She knew she was losing, and watching her fight for scraps of control was the sweetest thing I had ever experienced.
The door to the room opened again without a knock. This time, Alaric’s aunt walked in.
Aunty Kristy stepped inside, wearing a rich dress and holding an expensive handbag. She was boldly flexing her new leg and it reminded me of what happened earlier. A bitter taste spread across my body but I held back my anger’s
"Well, hello," Kristy said, setting her bag down on the vanity table and clearing her old throat. "Look at you, sitting in the royal suite like a proper lady instead of rotting in a holding cell."
I didn’t bother standing up. I just leaned back against the sofa, swirling the milk in my glass. "You took long enough to get here, Aunt Kristy. I had to deal with Rowena all by myself."
Kristy let out an ugly, dramatic scoff, coming over to sit on the armchair across from me. "Don’t even speak that commoner’s name in front of me. She had the nerve to demand a blood test right in front of the elders! The sheer disrespect of that girl is appalling. But it doesn’t matter now, the test came back positive, and the council elders are practically bowing down to you."
A bitter laugh escaped my throat. "Oh, so as you?”
Kristy froze, her eyebrows pulling down into a sudden, annoyed frown. "What is that tone for, Brielle?"
"Don’t play stupid with me," I said, my voice dropping into a cold edge as I set my glass down with a loud clink against the table. "Three weeks ago, when my family’s accounts were frozen and the council stripped my father’s title, you wouldn’t even answer my private phone calls. You left me out in the cold to rot while you tried to distance yourself from the Logan name because of a small mistake. Because I couldn’t fix your leg.”
Kristy’s face flushed a deep red, but she quickly adjusted her posture, putting on a fake, motherly smile that made my stomach turn.
"I was protecting the family’s standing, Brielle. Plus you almost killed me with your prototype.” Kristy argued, waving her hand in the air like it was no big deal. "I was angry about what happened. But I forgive you now.”
"That product line was fine until Rowena came to put me down.” I snapped back.
"It doesn’t matter anymore!" Kristy cut me off, her eyes shining with pure greed as she leaned forward in her chair. "I was furious with you, Brielle. I swore I would never help you again after that humiliation and murder attempt. But the Goddess works in mysterious ways. Carrying the future Alpha heir changes everything! I forgive you for the disaster, my dear. Fully and completely."
I looked at the woman sitting across from me, fighting the urge to roll my eyes until they popped out of my head.
Forgive me? She wasn’t forgiving me because she cared about me. She was "forgiving" me because I held the ultimate golden ticket in my hands. Kristy was nothing but a pathetic, power hungry bootlicker who clung to the most powerful influence in the territory.
When Alaric was freezing my family’s assets, she treated me like toxic garbage. But the second a positive pregnancy test put me back on top, she was suddenly my most loyal supporter.
She was disgusting. Absolute scum.
"How generous of you, Aunt Kristy," I said, forcing a faint, fake smile onto my face as I leaned back against the pillows.
"Of course it is!" Kristy gushed, totally blind to the venom behind my words. "Now that the pregnancy is officially documented by the lab, the elders are forcing Alaric to unfreeze the Logan family estate by tomorrow morning! I’ve already spoken with the elder. We are going to demand that Alaric name you as his official Luna Queen within the month. A child of royal blood cannot be born out of wedlock.”
"And what about Rowena?" I asked, testing her.
"Rowena will be thrown out on the street where she belongs," Kristy spat out with pure hatred. "Alaric might throw a small temper tantrum, but he has to obey the council elders when it comes to the royal bloodline. Once you take the Luna crown, Brielle, Rowena would be nothing.”
Kristy kept rambling on and on about the upcoming council meetings, what dresses we should order for the betrothal ceremony, and how she was going to personally oversee the re-decorating of the Luna wing in the packhouse.
She sat there looking so proud, so full of herself, thinking she was the brilliant mastermind who was going to rule the territory through me maybe.
She had no idea.
She really thought that once I put that Luna crown on my head, I was going to share my power with her. She was being delusional again. So what if I almost killed her? Why would an old woman with a missing leg even want to walk again? What the hell happened to wheelchairs and crutches? She could buy a wheelchair with car tires for all we care, but no, she wanted extra because she was Alaric’s aunty.
The Alpha King’s aunty.
Once I became the Luna Queen, once Alaric was legally tied to me forever and Rowena was completely erased from this pack, Kristy was going to be the very first person I dealt with.
I was going to strip her of everything giving her ultimate confidence, crush her social standing into dust, and make her crawl on her knees for every penny of her allowance.
I was going to make her suffer so badly she would wish she had remained on Rowena’s side.
"Brielle? Are you listening to me?" Kristy’s shrill voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
I looked over at her, my sweet harmless smile widening until my cheeks dimpled.
"I hear you perfectly, Aunt Kristy," I said, my voice calm as ever. "Everything is going to be just wonderful."
