Chapter 220: Chapter 220 Finally Busted

_Rowena’s POV_

The lead surgeon looked at me as if I had just claimed I could turn water into wine, but the steady shining blue calibration lights on Kristy’s new limb proved I wasn’t exaggerating.

Brielle stood near the back of the room, her eyes wide with a horrifying mix of panic, jealousy, and defeat. She realized her time was running out. She grabbed her mother’s arm, pulling Mrs. Logan behind a pillar.

"Mother, you have to do something!" Brielle whispered frantically, her voice trembling so hard her teeth nearly chattered. "She’s going to ruin us! Look at how everyone is staring at her! You need to use your political influence right now. Tell the elders her device is unsafe, tell them she cheated, tell them anything!"

Mrs. Logan looked at her daughter’s pale, sweat slicked face, her own eyes narrowing in realization. "Brielle... did you really copy her work? Is that piece of smoking junk really yours?"

"It doesn’t matter whose it was!" Brielle hissed desperately, clutching her mother’s sleeve. "If you don’t step in and turn the council against her right this second, Alaric will throw us out of the inner circle! My reputation will be completely dead!"

Mrs. Logan swallowed hard, her jaw tightening. She smoothed down her expensive coat, put on her most arrogant noble expression, and stepped out from behind the pillar.

"Hold on just one moment!" Mrs. Logan shouted, her voice ringing across the hallway. The crowd of elders stopped whispering and turned toward her. She pointed an angry finger directly at me. "Do not be fooled by this girl’s flashy tricks! It is obvious what happened here today. Rowena deliberately brought a broken, dangerous device to sabotage my daughter’s presentation and put Lady Kristy’s life in danger just so she could swoop in at the last second and play the savior!"

A few of the older, traditional elders shifted uncomfortably, murmuring among themselves.

I didn’t lose my temper, I didn’t raise my voice. I simply let out a low, amused breath and turned around to face Mrs. Logan and Brielle.

"A sabotage, Mrs. Logan?" I asked, my voice dangerously calm as I took three slow, deliberate steps toward them. "That is a very heavy accusation to throw around in front of the Alpha King and the entire pack council."

"It is the truth!" Brielle chimed in, finding a tiny burst of fake courage now that her mother was standing beside her. "You deliberately switched the blue prints! You knew my medical team was reviewing high level designs, and you planted a faulty model to disgrace my family!"

"Is that so, Dr. Logan?" I asked, stopping right in front of her. The cold, unyielding power in my eyes made Brielle flinch, her fake courage instantly evaporating. "You stand here claiming to be a master of biomechanics, claiming that the smoking piece of metal currently sitting in the bin was your original, brilliant creation."

"It was my design!" Brielle lied, raising her chin stubbornly. "I spent weeks in my study calculating every single joint!"

"Wonderful," I said, a victorious smile spreading across my face. "Then as a master doctor who personally calculated every single joint, you should have no trouble explaining the basic mechanics of your own creation to the medical board right now."

I turned toward the lead surgeon and gestured to the white display board on the wall. "Doctor, please hand Dr. Brielle a marker."

The surgeon, thoroughly intrigued and secretly annoyed by Brielle’s previous arrogance, immediately handed a black dry erase marker straight to Brielle.

Brielle stared at the marker in her hand as if it were a venomous snake. Her fingers trembled violently.

"Go ahead, Dr. Logan," I said, stepping back and folding my arms over my chest. "Show the Alpha King and the council elders the mathematical equation you used to balance the secondary pressure in that knee joint. It should be very simple for someone who spent weeks calculating it."

The entire room went dead silent. Dozens of high ranking elders, surgeons, and council members leaned forward, their eyes locked entirely on Brielle. Alaric stood beside my bench, his dark eyes cold and piercing as he stared down the woman who had claimed to be his aunt’s savior.

Brielle’s mouth opened, but not a single sound came out. Sweat began to bead along her hairline.

"I... well, the equation is proprietary family research," Brielle stammered, her voice squeaking pathetically. "I am not obligated to draw it out in front of....."

"You don’t know it, do you?" I cut her off, my voice dropping into a harsh tone that echoed through the room. "You don’t know the equation because you didn’t design a single millimeter of that leg. You don’t even understand the basic physics of the machine you tried to attach to a dying woman’s body.”

"That is absurd!" Mrs. Logan yelled, stepping in front of her daughter. "How dare you speak to my daughter like—"

"That’s enoigh!" Alaric’s deep, booming Alpha voice roared through the hallway, making the windows shake. The raw, terrifying pressure of his aura dropped over the room like a mountain, instantly shutting Mrs. Logan up and forcing several elders to bow their heads in instinctual fear.

Alaric took two steps forward, his deadly glare fixed entirely on Brielle. "Draw the equation, Brielle. Prove to me that you did not endanger my aunt’s life with fake expertise."

Brielle dropped the marker, It clattered loudly against the floor, rolling to a stop right at Alaric’s shoes. Tears of pure humiliation and terror finally spilled over her eyes, streaming down her pale cheeks as she shrank back against the wall.

"I... I can’t," Brielle sobbed out, her voice broken and pathetically small.

Gasps of pure horror and disgust erupted from the pack elders.

"She lied!" one elder spat out in outrage. "She faked her entire research!"

"She almost killed Lady Kristy just to win political favor!" another shouted. "What a disgraced, incompetent fraud!"

I took a slow step closer to Brielle, leaning down slightly so only she and her mother could hear my final words.

"You wanted to steal my place, Brielle," I whispered. "You wanted to stand beside Alaric as Luna Queen while looking down on me as a nobody? Pathetic. Today, every single noble in this territory sees you for exactly what you are, an incompetent fraud who nearly killed the Alpha’s aunt out of pure, pathetic greed."

Brielle covered her face with her hands, sinking down onto her knees on the cold floor, sobbing hysterically as her mother tried in vain to shield her from the disgusted glares of the entire pack council.

I straightened up, turned my back on the weeping fraud, and walked calmly toward Alaric. The crowd of nobles instantly parted for me, bowing their heads in deep, genuine respect as I passed.

Alaric looked down at me, his dark eyes filled with pride, admiration, and devotion. He reached out, taking my hand firmly in his grip, pulling me right beside his side where I belonged.
