The Lord Of Blood Hill
Chapter 745: Kicked Out of the Dungeon
Henwell is not dragged into the Abyssal realm. Instead, he arrives in a region resembling an interplanar pocket.
The place combines some restrictions of the main plane with the environment and laws of the Abyss plane.
Henwell cannot tell how large it is. As far as he can see, the ground is riddled with fissures amid spreading lava and poisonous fumes.
Contrary to his expectations, the demons do not live in the lava. They have built hive-like structures across the ground.
The sky is dim, with blue and green lightning colliding overhead.
All in all, it is a miserable place, utterly unsuitable for human life.
The Iron Rank Berserker Demon that dragged Henwell inside believes it has him on its home turf.
Its strength is enhanced here while humans face numerous restrictions. It expects an easy kill.
Its severed head now lies beneath Henwell's foot.
The Berserker Demon has badly miscalculated. This place does not restrict Henwell's combat power at all.
In fact, leaving the main plane, or perhaps merely entering this interplanar pocket, has eliminated the last remnants of the Anti-Magic Formation's influence.
Better yet, running his demonic ferryman through with a single thrust still grants Henwell the usual boost from killing a demon.
At first, the surrounding demonic creatures stare blankly at the human who has appeared from nowhere.
Then they launch a frenzied assault. Henwell unleashes the full power of both locks and uses Blade Frenzy to sweep away every monster charging at him.
It seems the entire region senses the presence of a human.
Every demon nest within sight begins to stir, from structures more than a hundred meters across to those no larger than a small room.
Henwell roars and charges headlong into the flood of demonic creatures.
Henwell loses track of time. Eventually, he stands atop a pile of corpses more than ten meters high while an endless tide of monsters surges toward him.
By now, Henwell's body has begun to change.
First, armor so dense it is almost solid covers his body, its design closely resembling his Nightwind Armor.
An exaggerated cloak trails from his back, stretching more than twenty meters and consisting entirely of flowing blood energy.
The blood-energy cloak is no decoration. It repeatedly sweeps up masses of demonic creatures, wraps around them, and consumes them completely.
A miniature dragon sometimes swims through the cloak's surface, looking remarkably like Barbarossa the Death Shadow.
The dragon phantom greedily tears into every demonic creature caught by the blood-energy cloak and devours it.
Flowing bloodred lines cover Henwell's skin. His eyes have turned completely crimson and shine with bright bloodred flames like a pair of rubies.
The blood flames on his twin swords extend more than two meters beyond the blades, making them look like red-hot irons.
Outside the interplanar pocket, monsters have stopped emerging from the Bone Teleportation Formation.
With no enemies left to fight, Alex rests both warhammers on her shoulder and crouches beside the formation, staring at it in thought.
She tightens her grip on the warhammers, then glances back at the Lady of Calamity.
After a long hesitation, Alex ultimately decides not to destroy the formation.
Alex has every reason to fear Henwell.
Ever since she first set foot on the path of extraordinary power, or indeed for as long as she can remember, she has never encountered anyone so difficult to deal with.
She also knows perfectly well that Henwell has been searching for an opportunity to kill her and her husband.
Only the Lady of Calamity's presence has kept him from acting.
On this point, Alex thinks exactly as Henwell does. Neither is willing to leave a threat unresolved.
Yet the Lady of Calamity is also the reason Alex does not destroy the formation and strand Henwell in an unknown region.
Steve is still assisting the Lady of Calamity. If Alex makes a move against Henwell now, the Lady of Calamity may immediately turn on the couple.
Most importantly, Alex cannot be sure the other side of the Bone Teleportation Formation is truly the Abyss plane.
If it fails to trap Henwell and he returns, she and Steve may have to live under false identities for a very long time.
They could flee to Abundant Continent, but if Henwell becomes determined to hunt them down, even that distance will no longer protect them.
After weighing every risk, Alex does not dare destroy the formation.
Several hours later, Alex is idly smashing the bones around her.
The teleportation formation suddenly erupts with dazzling light.
Alex instantly becomes alert, hefts her weapons, and leaps to the formation's edge.
As she tries to see what is happening, a figure shoots out of the spell formation and tumbles to the ground before her.
Henwell opens his eyes and sees Alex frozen in place with a warhammer raised over him.
He climbs to his feet. "What? Were you planning to hit me?"
Alex is bitterly disappointed to see Henwell return alive.
"I came over to see whether any corrupted creatures were coming through!"
Henwell gives her a knowing look. Only when she begins to squirm does he turn away.
His clothes are in tatters, his hair is scorched, and several wounds on his body run deep enough to expose bone.
Even so, Alex does not dare ambush him.
Henwell is in a foul mood. He thought he would be able to grind EXP for much longer.
Just when he had truly begun enjoying himself, several powerful demons appeared.
All of them were skilled Iron Rank combatants, and even Henwell needed some effort to deal with them.
Then the situation deteriorated. A Glory Rank greater demon appeared from nowhere.
The creature was excited at first, but after fighting for a while, it was stunned to discover that it could not kill Henwell.
As Henwell continued killing nearby demonic creatures and using them to recover from his injuries, the Executioner Demon came under increasing pressure.
So it tried everything it could to drive Henwell out.
Henwell, however, had decided that this was the perfect place to grind EXP and refused to leave under any circumstances.
Restricted by the Chains of Civilization, the Executioner Demon could only fight Henwell to a draw.
Henwell has now effectively entered the Glory Rank, and his combat power far exceeds that of professionals who have only recently advanced to it.
After several failed attempts to drive Henwell out alone, the Executioner Demon began calling for reinforcements.
Demons are highly territorial, so other Glory Rank demonic creatures could not reach the area quickly.
Nor would they willingly risk invading another demon's lair merely to expel a human.
With no other choice, the Executioner Demon summoned the strongest fighters in its retinue.
Only after most of its trusted followers had died and one of its horns had been severed did it finally manage to expel Henwell.
The demon immediately isolated the region and sealed the passage from inside the interplanar pocket.
The seal is only temporary, but it can reinforce the barrier from time to time and set ambushes around the passage.
If Henwell ever dares to force his way back inside, it will be fully prepared for him.
