The Lord Demon King is Unfathomable!
Chapter 2110 - 562: Purging the Clan (Part 3)
Or rather, "礼" in the phrase "礼后兵" (courtesy before force).
"Sometimes, I feel that Saint Sis might be dead." Edward sighed softly, blew at the floating foam in his tea cup, yet did not take a sip.
"Please don't think that way. If even you don't believe in the Holy Light, we might truly fall into a void."
Looking at Edward, who doubted his faith, Luo Yan gently advised.
Although he had been undermining Saint Sis, he didn't want to directly tear down Saint Sis's castle and kick the people here into the arms of Chaos.
The vast majority of Second Epoch problems trace back to hidden dangers laid during the First Epoch. Both transmigrators were adept at dismantling houses; one successfully tore down the Netherworld God's house, thus Hell was born. Fortunately, the other didn't succeed; if he had, it would have surely been a disaster.
However, thanks to Brother Linte giving him a Divine, Luo Yan decided not to criticize him and instead directed his criticism at his own pet.
"Perhaps," Edward smiled softly, "Your family truly serves the Holy Light, I understand your stance in advising me."
"This has nothing to do with what my family serves; the current issues of Saint Clement's Court are indeed its own, but the Academic State's problems are distinctly just the Academic State's and a separate matter from the Holy Light."
Sipping the red tea in his cup, Luo Yan's gaze sank into contemplation, then he recalled a past unrelated to the present.
"That was a long time ago. Back then, I had just arrived at the Academic State out of curiosity to test the credibility of their exams, and accidentally stumbled upon a giant cockroach."
"Oh? Was it a Demon Beast?" Prince Colin suddenly spoke up, and Edward chuckled as he asked.
"Not a Demon Beast," Luo Yan laughed, shaking his head, continuing in a casual tone, "It was a fellow who forgot his family name after gaining some wealth. For his unworthy son to pass the exam, he bribed insiders to switch out my exam paper."
"Switched out your… exam paper?" Edward looked at him in surprise, then laughed, "That guy must be having the worst luck of his life."
Luo Yan chuckled in agreement.
"Perhaps, but I feel it might not be without the Holy Light's intention; otherwise, why coincidentally did he not pick others' answers and chose Mr. Colin's?"
"You're quite magnanimous, not getting angry," Edward sincerely praised, knowing he would definitely whip the guy a few times if it were him.
"After all, I do not need an exam paper to prove my strength. However, what I want to talk about is not this incident but what happened afterward."
Luo Yan paused for a moment here, putting down his teacup, and continued to speak about what happened afterward.
It was a snowy night, thanks to this accidental mishap, he met a young man who claimed to be a poet. And then came the renowned story of Hector chasing the Prince in the snow.
The old professor not only came with the admission notice of the Academic State but also brought with him a belated 'apology,' and a remote control that made the old professor sit up straight.
Edward couldn't catch Colin's humor, frowned, and spoke.
"Did they also give you a severed head?"
"Not quite; they didn't treat me as roughly as they did you."
Luo Yan shook his head, a playful smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.
"When I arrived at Hector's office, the old professor handed me a newspaper; the front page headline was the execution ground in Dragon Watch City, where the unlucky apprentice Minos responsible for switching the papers, and the elderly exam candidate 'Marco' both knelt before the guillotine, losing their heads."
When he said this, his gaze naturally fell on the patrolling guards not far away.
"Actually, in that photo, I know one of the heads wasn't real, but that's no longer important. Firstly, I have a decent impression of Professor Hector; secondly… killing more ordinary people is meaningless, isn't it?"
Yet, despite saying that, Luo Yan hadn't truly let go of the mastermind.
The massive entity known as "Thorne Association," along with its boss Arist Thorne, ultimately fell into his hands due to other matters.
With Arist Thorne's collusion with Chaos confirmed, the Thorne Association scattered like monkeys from a fallen tree.
As for Uriel Acle, who always wore a gentle smile, by his study of "Soul Weaving Technique," he stepped over the corpses of predecessors to become the succeeding "Wise Candidate."
Looking back now, this might not necessarily be a good thing.
Although Arist was greedy, he merely consumed the resources within the Void Realm. However, Uriel… what he consumes might make even a Demon frown.
In terms of timing, Luo Yan felt Uriel should have little connection to the matters of Ryan Kingdom, because at that time, he hadn't even entered the scene.
But the cruel methods discovered at Burial Peak for dissecting, filtering, and purifying souls were intricately linked to Uriel's "Soul Weaving Technique" research.
Edward sighed lightly and said.
"There are too few noblemen as benevolent as you."
Luo Yan smiled faintly.
"Perhaps, but I don't see it that way."
"You're too modest."
"Not modest," Luo Yan shook his head gently and continued, "I've been to the Holy City. If you only look at their personal virtues, many nobles there are actually good people. They'll shed tears for a stray cat's death, they'll inquire about the well-being of their servants, they'll aid those who've fallen to the streets… In this regard, they are not inferior to your sister."
