This further validated his theory of "one person, two legs." How could a watermelon vine grow gourds?

They were truly a match made in heaven.

Sir Skidgin, who had just been scolded harshly, respectfully bent down, picked up the fan that had fallen on the ground, and offered it with both hands.

"Misunderstanding! It's all a misunderstanding! Beautiful Miss Marie!"

His face, full of excess flesh, bloomed into a flattering chrysanthemum, and the speed at which it changed expressions left even Mr. Newcastle, who sold fire extinguishers, in awe. It was faster than the Roxey Rifle.

"... We are investigating those who don't understand the rules, worried that the vulgar content would taint your eyes. But a refined lady and gentleman like you certainly possess the ability to discern right from wrong... You two will surely understand the elegance behind the art."

He turned around and yelled at the guards who were still pretending to be blind.

"What are you standing around for? Make way quickly!"

These dogs, usually indulging with me in drinks, meat, and women, are now all looking around aimlessly when something happens!

The guards immediately made way on a wide road.

Sir Skidgin turned back to face Miss Marie, who stared with goldfish eyes, standing up straight with a look of loyalty, while gesturing for her to enter.

"Please come in; it's windy outside. As for those actors... rest assured, I'll have them caught right away! After you have appreciated it, it won't be too late for our Lord Bishop to appreciate it too."

The citizens standing outside the barrier line widened their eyes, feeling that this stage was not playing out as they had imagined.

What about the King's dignity?

This...

Isn't that wrong?

Unfortunately, Sir Skidgin didn't know what they were thinking, otherwise he would have surely "repaired" their profane minds.

Saint Sis above, poor Mr. Skidgin was just an ordinary civilian, who had luckily picked up a knight's title due to a big fire.

What qualifications did he have to be the King's face? At most, he could use the fists that civilians were skilled with to make another group of civilians forget this profane night.

Like handling a trivial household chore, Miss Marie Langbane leisurely closed the fan.

The aggressive air from earlier vanished as if it never existed, with her smoothing out of her skirt's pleats.

Subsequently, the baron's daughter raised her chin, her eyes twinkling with anticipation, like a little girl waiting for candy, looking at that "true gentleman."

Although there were no gentlemen present in the crowd, Newcastle still did not disappoint the "true lady."

He slightly bent down, bending his arm, letting the little hand with lace gloves rest in the crook of his elbow.

"Admirable courage, your bravery eclipses even this cold night, Miss Langbane... Honestly, I've never seen Sir Skidgin like this before."

"You know him?"

"Sort of... After all, I am a Campbell person who sells fire extinguishers, and he is the guardian of the Ryan people's night; we've met a few times."

"Don't associate with that rude guy in the future. I find his timid appearance annoying; after talking to him, I feel covered in the smell of turtle. You know that smell? Like moldy waterweed!"

"Yes... as you wish."

Watching the two walk towards the carpeted stairs, Sir Skidgin breathed a sigh of relief inside, while silently thanking this little brother he could no longer match.

Newcastle would not really stop associating with him, but with Mr. Newcastle's pardon, Miss Marie probably wouldn't trouble him anymore...

The two, "stuck like glue," stepped onto the red-carpeted stairs.

Just as they were about to step through the brightly lit door, Newcastle suddenly paused, instinctively looking back.

The wind on the steps was somewhat noisy; he saw people standing outside the bayonet wall, and those faces soaked in the night.

They were citizens driven out by the Royal Guard, as well as those who came to watch the commotion. They wore thin, old coats, merely standing there in silence.

Maybe Bar and Mr. Nate were also inside, Newcastle hoped they were; at least those two stone masons who understood could explain for him, that he had no choice but to wade into this muddy water.

Saint Sis above, he just wanted to sell a fire extinguisher, how did this ten thousand gold coins bring about so many troubles?

Newcastle even began to envy that fellow villager he drove away. If only someone had woken him up with a stick and driven him away when he first came...

Unfortunately, he was the first to try it, and so he had walked step by step to the door of Saint Roland Grand Theatre...

Newcastle quietly took off his hat, gave a nod of apology to the silent audience instead of a bow for apology.

Nevertheless, no one cared about the "gentleman" gesture, nor did the sweetly smiling Miss Marie beside him notice.

The silent citizens just stared at Sir Skidgin, their gazes as if burning through his dazzling uniform.

In fact, they didn't care about art, nor who was arm-in-arm with whom, but why were the Royal Guard's batons playing favorites?

"Let's go, Mr. Newcastle."

Marie gently tugged his sleeve, glanced disdainfully at the foul-smelling crowd below, and pulled him into the warm hall.

The heavy door blocked off the slightly cool evening breeze of spring, the warmth in the hall making people feel completely relaxed.
